Perfect stop on Lake Barkley. Good menu assortment with the fries and burgers leading the way.

A quick search revealed that Greg's Grill was nearby and highly rated, so we made our way there just in time for lunch. As we waited to order, the man in front of us said "The pineapple milkshake is great! If you like milkshakes, you have to get the one here." Sold to the Yelper in line! When my turn came, I ordered a bacon burger, baked beans, and a pineapple milkshake. My husband went with a bacon cheeseburger, fries, and a Pepsi. We had to wait about 10 minutes, but that told me the food was being made fresh. Once it was on our table, we dug right in. What a delicious burger! Flavorful, juicy, and just the right size for lunch. We both enjoyed our orders. The pineapple milkshake was fresh and had great flavor - just be sure to grab a spoon for the large pieces of pineapple in it that done fit through the straw. It was a hot day and the flies swarmed around our delicious smelling food outside, so we ate quickly before heading on our way. If you're in the LBL area, add Greg's Grill to your list of places to visit!

We had been here over the summer, and stopped by with our daughter to share the experience. Service is always good, and some of the food is great. It seemed like the 1 inch porkchop was not as good as the gigantic one I had last time, but I coykd be crazy. My husband woukd say I was crazy, so there is that. My daughter loved her fish. The mashed potatoes with white gravy were so good, I ate those first. Hubby asked for a garden salad with salmon. He got a spinach salad with salmon. Our server brought it out and offered to have it remade, but the salad looked wonderful and he really enjoyed it. Kudos to the chef for standing his ground haha. We were too full for dessert. Highly recommend, for the experience and the cute period clothing. Get reservations though! We have to wait over an hour on our first visit. We made reservations the 2nd time and we're seated within 10 minutes.

Another option was the soup and salad bar. White bean soup was like wallpaper paste. Broccoli soup was just as pasty but green. Neither had any flavor. Salad bar had bare minimals. Soup bowls were either a tiny butter dish or a ramekin. When I asked for a soup bowl the waitress pointed to my 2 choices. We shared a club sandwich which was ok. Went for breakfast the next day because the nearest town is 20 minutes away. Breakfast buffet was poor so we ordered off the menu. My traditional breakfast was fair. Ham steak was the highlight of my meal. Never got the potatoes that came with my plate. Also a first for me. Got the heal or end of the bread. Whole place is closed next year for major renovations. We arrived at Kenlake State Park for a weekend get away and after a long drive this restaurant hit the spot. My husband ordered the mushroom Swiss burger and was pleasantly surprised. The cheeseburger came well dressed and huge. The food was hot and delicious. The salad bar was mediocre, it did not have very many vegetables on the bar and that was disappointing.

I didn't take any photos during that trip for this review and since everything about Harper House said, "Come on back and get some more." we decided to get back up there for another round. Reservations were for 7pm and we got there a tad early, but were seated promptly and probably right at 7pm...I wasn't checking my watch. We started off with a basket of their fried pickles (last time we started with the Group Grazing Board, but we had more in our party). They came out from the kitchen quickly and there's a really good portion for the price. They weren't as crispy as they could be, but they were really tasty. They came with a house made ranch dipping sauce that was just what we expected...ranch sauce. They did bring out some of their house cornbread as well with strawberry butter. I'm not a fan of cornbread all in all unless it comes in muffin form with cheese and jalapenos to eat with some pinto beans...but this was good. Had a hint of sweetness to it as well, which went well with the strawberry butter. My wife ordered the 7oz center cut filet mignon but she subsituted the mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts for Harper House Mac-n-Cheese and Crispy Red Potatoes. Initially, the filet came out slightly underdone, but they quickly made it right. She really liked it, said that it was exactly what a filet should be...and the peppercorn demi glaze made it that much better. I ordered the ribeye and kept the sides as is (baked potato & thin cut crispy onion strings). This was a super flavorful cut with an insanely rich, bold flavor and just the right amount of fat marbled throughout the cut. If you live right there in Cadiz and haven't been to Harper House, head over there to grab a bite. If you live down I24, you owe it to yourself to make the 30 minute drive and give it a shot. It's well worth the trip.

Mine was over priced watery potatoes pie. We got cornbread Togo and cheese cake to replace fried pickles that never came. Plus 10 in coupons for future use.
