I have to say first off, that the coffee was the best that I've ever had in my entire life (68 yrs)!! I believe that it was the owner that gave me the name of it, very kind :) The server, Michael, and other folks that worked there were also very nice, and Michael was a good server. I had the country ham, biscuits and gravy, and fried hashbrowns with onions and cheese on top. The b's & g's had to be heated a bit, but overall, it was good. I'd definitely go back there and eat again. I loved the local-yocal feel to it!

I especially liked the mustard sauce with the brisket. The coleslaw is really fresh tasting as well. There was a large group of us at noon on Thursday/ We were easily seated and received lots of attention from our waitress and one of the owners. Very friendly, casual, and welcoming atmosphere. It's a bit of a drive from Paris, but well worth it. Some of the folks in my group ordered dessert and raved about the banana pudding and the TX trash pie. I was too full to think about dessert. I'll definitely be back.

Now someone said they have a good cheese burger, but we tried the 1/4 rib basket & smoked Turkey..baked beans & slaw. The beans need help. They were sweet like syrup but they need a new recipe. The slaw was ok but needed something, kinda sweet but again not much flavor. The smoked Turkey & ribs were just average. Would not get any of those things again. The toast was just white toast, toasted instead of Texas toast. No butter. It was a no for us, but I heard they have good brisket? We sat outside. It was nice they have picnic tables & an area for bands to play. Cute mom & pop with friendly charm.

I sat at the bar and had a couple beers. For appetizers, I asked the bartender what she liked the best. Based on her recommendations, I ordered the Pub Pretzels with Beer Cheese along with the Buffalo Ranch Chicken Dip with Tortilla Chips and Celery. Typical bar food. The Pub Pretzels and Beer Cheese looked and tasted like Auntie Anne's brand. Not bad. The Buffalo Ranch Chicken Dip was served in a disposable container. It was good, but, very mild, not spicy at all. Could have used more heat. They have an area for live music. I'm sure this place is packed when school is in session. It is next to campus. Several TV's to watch sports.

While playing is undeniably fun, expect a chaotic sea of 20-plus teams crowding the room--it is, quite frankly, a bit of a mess. The bar itself offers a respectable tap list with a pretty good beer selection on hand, anchoring what is otherwise a typical, unpretentious bar-food ambience. The kitchen, however, faltered on execution. Venturing into the black and blue salad, I ordered my steak medium-rare--though a seasoned veteran seated next to me wisely advised going rare. I should have listened; the meat arrived thoroughly overcooked, missing the mark entirely. Still, the salad itself was reasonably good, buoyed by a very interesting dressing. Between the disorganized trivia stampede and the culinary misfire, it's an establishment that ultimately falls short of a strong recommendation.

As someone who grew up in a rural community outside a small town, I have a deep love and appreciation for restaurants like The Pond! The staff was amazing and friendly! We had 7 of us in our party. We were seated very quickly. We were tended to with care. When looking at the menu, I was surprised (in a very good way) at the prices. The amount of food you get for the price beats any place I've eaten in the city, for sure! I ordered the fried shrimp dinner which comes with the fried shrimp, a choice of a baked potato, fries? Or potato wedges. It also comes with slaw, white beans, and hush puppies. I chose to go with a loaded baked potato. The shrimp I got was AMAZING! It wasn't the dinky little shrimps you get at big chain restaurants. These were big plump shrimps. That loaded baked potato was also delicious! I'm pretty sure I inhaled it. I'm a sucker for a good slaw and I could have eaten a large bowl of it. I'm not one who particularly likes white beans or hush puppies, so I didn't try those. I got flu after the slaw, potato, and just half of my shrimp. I was a bit disappointed because I didn't get to try their desserts. I am looking forward to visiting The Pond again on my next visit!
