The moment I walked in the dirty shirt lady was rude ! My husband and I had never been there before and after reading the reviews we decided to try it. I asked a question about a sandwich and was told to read the menu... okay I did but still had a question! So I decided to go to a different sandwich since I was unable to get my questions answered. We ordered our sandwiches and drinks but they were working on the drink fountain and only had bottles of drinks in a cooler ( refrigerator) I asked for sugar free and was told they had a can that wasn't in the cooler so I said ok Went to a table, waiting for our sandwiches and when she delivered them I asked for a cup of ice since the drink was lukewarm at best. You would of thought I asked her to do something so crazy ... I even offered to pay for it! After a comment under her breath she leaves and returned moments later and literally can't walk to the table and tries to hand me the cup from behind my husband's head..... sad thing is the sandwiches were dam good but we will never step back in the place. There are sandwiches shops. There are bad sandwiches shops. Then there's this place. We met Victor and he seems like a gem of a human. However, this place peaked during the Reagan era. I order what I thought would be a normal sandwich but what arrived on my plate was more bologna than I think any individual should ever experience at one time. Stopped in while in town for business. This place is a dump, but it did have a certain collegiate charm (it's right next to UK-Murray). Reminded me of places I'd go in college when I needed a good local sandwich and when I had a few dollars in my pocket. Place looks like it's been here since about 1982, not sure exactly when it opened. Probably has the same furnishings, though. Incredibly uncomfortable bench chairs which sit too low, unless maybe you're 6'7" or taller. I was lucky enough to score one of the more "normal" chairs. Old, faded posters on the wall, most in Spanish, which is curious because I didn't really see anything Mexican on main wall-menu (you order at counter) but maybe I just missed it. Dining area is by the "game room," which apparently consists of half-a-dozen vintage arcade games, all shut off and stored next to restrooms--maybe to make more room for seating? Now on to the food--that's the good thing (aside from the hole-in-the wall charm, of course). "All meats are cut fresh and prepared in house," the helpful person working the counter proffered. She recommend a sandwich off the "Victor's Favorites" section. I ordered the large Cheesesteak Deluxe, which comes with beef, provelone, "special sauce," parmesan, and mushrooms. I was pleasantly surprised. The quality of the hoagir-type italian bread roll was very fresh and good, the portions were there, beef was good. The "special sauce" was pretty much marinara, so that combined with parmesan made it taste morr or less like an Italian Cheesesteak. I would have preferred to have fresh sliced mushrooms, rather than canned, but no big deal. Unless I was trying to impress someone with atmosphere, I would definitely go back, if I wanted a good, super-casual but quality sandwich. Super casual. read more

Victor's is awesome. Any kind of sandwich you could want they will make for you and it will be huge. The sides and appetizers are also great. I recommend the mushroom potato skins with sour cream. In my early 20s, I was going to school in Murray. I had 3 jobs, Victor's being one of them. Even though he was not always the nicest man to work for, he put out a quality sandwich. Even after I couldn't handle working there (I hope they got rid of that God-aweful, smelly Victorman costume), I still went in for the sandwiches and the sweet smile from his wife who helped him run the place. Even living in a culinary power-house city like New Orleans, I still miss the Cuban sandwich with bacon. Like a heart-attack in a bun but so amazingly good. read more

The service was terrible! The daughter of the owner took my order and she had a foul expression on her face when I walked in. It was like I was in her way. I looked at the time and it was only 2:33 in the afternoon. I ordered a footlong Italian sub, and it tasted flat! Put on too much lettuce and did not add pickles and not enough tomotoes. This place has an INSANE selection of sandwiches! They have tacos and pizza too. The pricing is fantastic in contrast with the size of the sandwiches and the quality. Highly recommend this place for anybody looking for a classic "Italian sub shop" meal :) read more

I was really looking forward to eating here because I had heard good things. Well I won't be going back. First of all this is not the place to get nachos - try getting them at a Mexican restaurant or something because these were like gas station nachos. Gas station nachos might have been better. I got the barbecue chicken sub. She did not ask me what I wanted on it so I just assumed it came with your standard lettuce tomato or whatever. The only thing it came with was like a whole bottle of barbecue sauce on it. It saturated the bread so badly that if I had eaten it I would have had to use a fork. Lots of selections for meet and dairy eaters here, but I cam'r eat dairy or red meat and my husband doesn't eat meat at all. There was almost NOTHING on the menu we could eat. I could have excused that in exchange for some decent customer service. Unfortunately, the woman taking our orders was incredibly rude. She would even serve us a cup of tap water over selling us bottled water. All that being said, the ingredients were fresh and it was a good white bread (no other options).
