Once again no pics ‍. We have eaten dinner here a few times while visiting my daughter at Murray State. She absolutely loves the place and I find it a solid four. But is the best Mexican I've had in Murray. Will certainly be back. This place is not just near campus, it's practically on campus. Good solid Mexican cuisine. We've been here a couple times and enjoyed both visits. Restaurant is clean, up to date, and an obvious popular stop for the students at Murray State. I had the carne asada tacos and my wife had the veggie fajita. Both were excellent and the vegetables were fresh. Will definitely be back. Bonus points for having Sol Cervesa. read more

Went in while in town on business, ate at a different Mexican place last night that was pretty good, and this one actually got a slightly better Yelp ratings, so I was excited. So far, I'm not quite sure why the ratings were higher. I'm sitting at a sticky table, and they seriously need to step up their house salsa game. It was too tomato-y, had too much black pepper, and was generally just "canned & bland" tasting. Tried ordering 3 types of my favorite tequilas--Hornitos, Jimador, and Cazadores, (not exclusive tequilas, by any means) but the guy said they didn't have any of them, just 4 types of tequila, one of which was Jose Cuervo. 4 tequilas only? En serio? So, I got a shot of Don Julio and a Pacifico beer. Food-wise, the menu was very cookie-cutter, standard Mexican fare. I remembered thinking I had seen other Don Sol locations in other towns, so maybe they are franchise. Definitely no "Mom & Pop" charm here.(Here's where it gets a little better)--I ordered the Pollo Chorizo, which was tasty. Never had a Mexican place put whole strips of bacon on anything, but hey, it was good. Requisite rice & beans was also very good, and the corn tortillas tasted like quality, as well. Ordered a flan for dessert, which was very good as well. So, the food was good. Would have gone 4 stars on this one, but the lackluster salsa, tequila selection, and uninspired menu kept the score down. Decent place, that's about all. read more

I ate here on Sunday with my best friend. I've been here once before and had a great experience but it has been awhile. Sunday I ordered the half price queso dip to start and ordered the pollo con chorizo for my entree. It was super delicious! It came with rice and beans that were fresh and great quality. The only thing that was kind of odd was then chicken/chorizo was topped with two pieces of bacon, odd but good. Unfortunately I was so hungry, I didn't get a picture!! My friend really enjoyed her meal as well! The restaurant was super clean and the staff was friendly and helpful. They also offer great specials throughout the week! Bottom line though, a typical Mexican restaurant...chips and salsa up front, a menu full of combo meals and ala' cart items typically found in a midwest America Mexican restaurant. Don Sol is so good. Where do I start? First off I'm a vegetarian. They have so many choices for me and a variety of vegetables you don't normally see. Plus they have so many things for my husband who is not a vegetarian. You get a good bang for your buck. I always have so much left over that I get two more meals out of it. We have eaten there twice. The food is mediocre and the chips are thick and tasteless. The salsa was good. We had fajitas one time and they came out on a regular plate instead of a cast iron skillet so they were no longer sizzling hot. We recently moved to the area, and this was the first Mexican place we tried. It was delicious, and has been the several times we have been since. The only downside is the consistent long wait, no matter what time you go. I always get the beef enchilada and taco with rice and beans. We have also tried the taco salad, the chimichangas, and a handful of other things and there have been little complaints. The salsa is good.
