I love the food they just keep messing up our to- go order so many times that we had to stop ordering. The girl was rude when I told her the first time. They don't answer the phone to let them know the orders are wrong. Too bad. Amazing salsa. read more

It's a good clean Mexican food place. It's not your taqueria style affair but the clean, americanized mexican food we all come to love. The burritos are good and the full on dishes with rice and beans are excellent. The service has always been amiable and I like the horchata. We go to Rudy's here or in Santa Barbara for lunch sometimes. The burritos are pretty good size and never complain about the serving size. read more

Too bad the customer service here is so poor. The crispy tacos are great, but when you stand at the cashier without being acknowledged.... Then another staff members comes on shift and answers the phone taking their order. Thanks goodness we have SO many taco places in stand. A simple hello was all that was needed. read more

Sorry for the one star review. Your food is actually pretty good. However, you close at 9 PM, my friend and I walked in at 8:42 PM only to be greeted by a young woman who said last orders were at 8:45. She agreed to take our order, but told us we could not eat in the restaurant. Pretty sad. I suggest you change your hours considering you're off the 101 freeway. Posterior view read more

A great place to grab a quick snack or burrito. My fiance and I stopped by to grab a quick taco before heading to Carp State Beach. He ordered the pollo asado and I the rolled potato tacos. We really loved the different salsas and sauces they had to choose from. It was also nice to sit outside in the warm heat and enjoy our cervesas! I am normally one to shoot down the idea of eating mexican food in a suburban strip mall but I was really glad we stopped by. And it wasn't pricey at all! read more

Overall the food is fine but the place is dirty, sticky floor, leftovers on the tables, booth seats really dirty. The staff is very busy on their phones showing each other things that make each other laugh. I always feel as if I'm interrupting and just shouldn't be there. Good thing for me is there are half a dozen other Mexican restaurants in town! read more

Horrible service and food. I ordered two enchilada's (one cheese and one chicken). The cheese wasn't even melted when I got back to my office. The chicken tasted old. There a lot of places to eat in town, if they want to stay in business they should shape up read more

I used to go here every Tuesday for taco Tuesday, not any longer. Evidently they complain to yelp about any negative complaint, this used to be a good place not anymore that is just my opinion hopefully they will be a good place again. read more

Very disappointing with multiple aspects including authenticity, flavor, service and general appearance of restaurant. Food was bland. Wait staff and counter staff were uninterested in customers. Staff members had their kids and extended family's using the restaurant as a day care ! Noisy and distracting. Consider going across street to Taco Grande whet they deliver on good Mexican food with nice service ! read more

It was okay. Ordered takeout, kind of weird on the containers they used, like a Dixie bowl and foil??? Strange. I ordered the chicken tostado.... And I liked it.. A little on the greasy side to the tostada but the shredded chicken and the rest of it was pretty good. The price on the hand was pretty up there but I understand... It's Santa Barbara, everything is pricey. read more

Terrible bland food. Soft taquitos like they were made on the microwave. Very disappointed. I won't be eating here again.

We were looking for someplace that we could get a bunch of food to feed the family and friends after the gathering for our girls 8th birthday beach bash. The f-in-law said Rudy's! Great food all around, didn't have a bad thing! inexpensive and a ton of food!! Highly recommend when in Carp. read more

Each plate freshly made. Salsa bar that was wonderful !!!! Discovered by accident but will be my go to stop when driving to LA and beyond read more

Rudys - Beef taco & cheese enchilada (my way of judging a restaurant's overall taste quality, the basics) - Mexican Near Me - Carpinteria, California

The workers do not want to be there. They never answer the phone. If you expect to show up 30 minutes before they close don't bother they will already be closing up shop putting the chairs on the tables in a hurry to leave. read more

Rudys - The tacos taste great but the appearance is not so great - Mexican Near Me - Carpinteria, California

Read the reviews before i tried this place. Saw mixed reviews. Also was recommended by a couple locals for the best Mexican food. Not the best! The carne asada had a very bland taste. Nothing really stands out about this place. They only have three menus in the whole establishment. If they where smart they would put them by the door and restock when needed. Salsa bar is very good, but you can't eat salsa for dinner. My buddy said the best thing about this place, is that Taco Bell is in the same parking lot. read more

Food is awful brought my family and flavorwise is just plane no flavor. Place is just a random NOT WORTH if you come as a tourist, you want to make sure you eat in a great place when coming here. Dissatisfied read more

I had lunch here at this little Mexican Reataurant called Ruby's and boy was I pleased! The portions are big, but more than that the quality of food is awesome. Fresh crispy chicken tacos with rice and beans were out of this world! Its worth the wait for this little gem of a restaurant. My husabd and I loved it. He had the Chummychungas and man that was huge!! I couldnt finsh my taco combo plate it was too big! I will most definitely come back here when I'm in town. Thank you Ruby's read more

good area - easy to find service was good food tasted standard read more

Not sure why they only average 3 stars! Was in a time crunch so stopped in for a quick bite to eat. The service was quick and friendly! The chicken burrito was boom and they offered a number of different salsas and add-ons you could take to go. read more

I'm quite picky when it comes to breakfast burritos and Rudy's didn't disappoint. I highly recommend the chorizo bb.

Friendly service. Delicious chili verse burrito. Good selection of salsas. Huge servings for a "side" of chips and guacamole. And beer. Ice cold beer waiting for you at the cash register when you order. read more

They got my simple order of beef and cheese tacos wrong THREE separate times. Wait staff were nice about it.

Restaurant food was the worst, complete with "delicious" iceberg lettuce, "appetizing" bean paste, "wondrous" flour tortilla. After eating, day old leftover chipoltle chips served to detoxify our bodies. Thanks Rudy's. Worst Mexican Restaurant NA. ( ° °) read more

Long time Rudy's customer in SB and Goleta (before they closed), and have always had very pleasant experiences. Not today! Stopped by Rudy's on my way to LA this morning (Carpinteria) and ordered a #1 chorizo, egg, and potato burrito with a side of beans. The beans, complimentary chips and salsa bar were very good; however, the burrito was horrible. Big cheese blob on one end, hard (raw) potatoes, eggs, and NO chorizo (really). Cut the burrito open, showed the cashier, and said I paid $11 for this? She didn't seem to care; it also appeared the cook was paying much more attention to music than food and customers. Very disappointed. read more

Hey owner, your restaurant sucks. The one on montecito it's is better. I had a torta cubana and the torta wasn't toasted on the grill with butter and the ham wasn't cut from a ham hank it was yucky sand which meat. Wtf, you're gonna carry the name maybe try to do it right. Do yourself a favor Santa Barbara go to the one on montecito this place is just shitty. read more

Good food, friendly people and supporting local business. Give it a try, the food was delicious.

Does not close at 9... they close whenever the cooks decide its time. Came around 8:54 and they were done for night and closed up. If 9 does not work then change the hours to 8:30 annoying waste of time read more

So the food was decent, but I probably wouldn't go back there for the simple reason that while I was eating their chicken burrito, I really wanted a burrito from the liquor store down the street. (Thankfully, my hubby surprised me with one a few days later). It's pretty sad, when you're at one restaurant, but the food inspires you to crave another. I know the liquor store is not sit down, but the burritos taste a whole lost fresher. read more

Worst customer service ever. The minute you walk in the door, The guy that was at the counter disappeared in the back room, which was about three feet away. Then when I got another person's attention, She treated me like I was a nuisance. read more

Good quick carne Assad's burritos and Chicken tacos for lunch! Easy to find. Close to 101 freeway.

I want to start off by saying that I am a Carp resident and loved Rudys until this past year. We have tried this place 3 times and each time received food that I was embarrassed to give my family. Old grease used . Tasteless rice with canned bean taste. Guak was grocery store tub quality. My sons hamburger was a frozen patty. This is so sad. We loved the way it was a year ago. Please change back!!!! read more

I came here after being told they serve great Mexican food from local friends. I tried a couple of carne asada soft tacos. It was just a lot of meat in a tortilla. No onion or cilantro etc. There was lettuce and tomato under the tacos, but it looked old and unappetizing. And the taste was subpar. I did like the selection at the salsa bar. My search for a local favorite Mexican food spot continues read more

Food was average, below average for Cali Poor service Disturbing part was that they had 1 high chair. The high chair was in use by a family sitting in the restaurant that was not eating. They were finishing as I was ordering. The family ended up being a relative or friend because one of the waitresses sat with them for 20 minutes and was still there when we left. Not having a high chair for a 13 month old makes it difficult. Also I had shoulder surgery and was in a sling struggling trying to eat and feed her. Basically I only have use of my left right now. Disrespectful, selfish move not catering to a patrons. We left no tip. But here's a tip now, don't go there. read more

The one star isn't for the food because I haven't eaten here...it's for the customer service. A group of us from work are doing field work in the area and a few of us went for lunch here. One of my coworkers ordered food and purchased a drink for me since I brought my lunch and we ate outside. I asked to use the restroom and she said "No it's for customers only." I explained to her my situation and it still didn't matter. I know it may be petty but seriously? This is one of the top places that my coworkers eat at when we're in town. I know where I WON'T be going to eat from now on! Fortunately Pee Bee and Jays let me use theirs even though I didn't purchase anything from them. read more

Fajita bowl was top-notch. Genuine Mexican food, instead of Chipotle (which is fine, for chain food, but can't beat the real thing!)

Bit torn on this review. Their food is a bit greasy. They use too much cheese. Their burritos are not very good. Taco tuesday I suppose is pretty great. Their crunchy chicken or crunchy beef tacos are enormous and pretty tasty. Salsas are average. Stop using so much cheese. If they had a bit cleaner place and cut down on the grease this might be a higher score. As is the crunchy tacos are the only thing worth getting. Use less cheese. 2.8/5 my brother says try the crunchy beef taco and remove 3/4 of the cheese. read more

We wanted some authentic Mexican grub, but got something more akin to Taco Bell. Portions were big, but also entirely flavorless. We got a couple combo burritos with steak and pork and a sopas with chicken. The burritos were giant, but also very dry, and with very little veggies. The guac inside didn't taste fresh, and the pork in particular was rock hard. The sopas were were greasy, and the chicken was dry and tasteless. Service was very nice however, and there was good wifi, just ask for the password. Definitely not the best choice around, especially when there's so many other places around. read more

Quality is going downhill fast. Instead of doing things to increase clientele during what appears to be a hardship for the restaurant, they are cost cutting. You now have to pay extra for salsa, which is now extra watered down. Portions are shrinking. I have been coming here at least 3 times a month for the last 6 years & am very disappointed. I have always been a huge advocate of the restaurant until now. read more

Good price , good food. Customer service needs attention. Something has changed in past 3-6 months ! Debit card accepted , outdoor seating minimal, small place , best for take out ...if you still want to try. WE REALLY USED TO LIKE THIS PLACE ... DONT KNOW WHAT HAPPENED. read more

Called in a order only to get "what do you want" instead of "hey this is rudys" or what would you like. I was so shocked I ordered in under 15 seconds she was rushing thru. So when I went to get it she didn't even get my name and had to guess which order to go was mine. It was only 9.32 and I gave her a 20 and she only gave me 10 back and I was in disbelief as she walked away so I just wanted to leave and not be in there any longer.. Bad service by far. Never again.. read more
