I ordered the papas con chorizo over the phone. The order was ready pretty quickly, and the lady I spoke with was very nice. The price was fair, especially considering it was a pretty big burrito. When I placed the order, the lady asked over the phone if I wanted to add beans. I said yes because I figured the beans would help keep the burrito from being too dry. Unfortunately, there ended up being so many beans that they completely overpowered everything else. I couldn't taste the egg at all, and I could barely taste the chorizo and potatoes. It honestly ended up tasting more like a bean burrito than papas con chorizo. For me, the food was probably a 1-star experience. On the positive side, the service was good, the order was ready quickly, the price was fair, and the burrito was a good size. I also liked that they had their different salsas available with little containers, so I could grab them without having to ask. Overall, I'd give the experience 3 stars. I would probably give them another try and order the papas con chorizo without the beans next time, because I'd like to see how it tastes when the ingredients aren't overpowered by the beans. read more

DANG! I had just changed the oil in my car and need something quick and I was so happy to stop by El Sitio. I ordered their asada burrito with avocado and cheese! Their Jamaica also tasted incredibly fresh and helped balance the savory with sweet. Once I took a bite out of this burrito, I couldn't stop. El Sitio - This coastal Mexican food spot was such a great find. I ordered the zucchini tacos and they were absolutely delicious fresh, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. You can really taste the care that goes into the ingredients. Beyond the food, I really appreciated the atmosphere. As someone who isn't of Mexican descent, the posters on the walls were surprisingly educational and added so much depth to the experience. For delicious and authentic Mexican food, El Sitio is not fancy, but always ideal. In Santa Barbara, along with their East Side and San Roque locations, they have two spots in Goleta. One on Fairview Avenue next to McDonalds, and another one exit up and across Hwy 101 from the CostCo and Home Depot Shopping Center. I have to say I have visited them all and enjoy them equally. I have started many a morning with their selection of Breakfast Burritos, and for lunch I usually dive into their Soft Tacos, Quesadillas, Burritos and Tortas. Their selection of specialty meats is incredible. My favorites being their Chorizo, Adobado Mixto, Carnitas, and Chili Verde. They do have a selection of shrimp and fish specialty items, definitely on the list to try. And don't forget their crispy chips and delicious selection of Salsas. They do have seating areas, which are comfy cozy, but I am used to ordering it all to be picked up to enjoy at home or work. read more

Not knowing that El Sitio had a Goleta location after my last three years living in town, I'm glad to know it exists for the next three years or so! The exterior is nondescript but inside it's a cute, family-run, local chain. If you read the descriptions of the multiple pictures on the wall inside, you'll learn that El Sitio is the name of the small agricultural town in Mexico the owners come from. The colorful wooden chairs with heart cut outs and the chili pepper posters rating mild to spicy may also catch your eye. Simply walk up to the counter and place your order with the friendly staff. Know that if you go with a Torta (Mexican "sandwich"), you won't be disappointed! It is truly legit being on a bolillo (french bread roll) and filled with your choice of meat, topped with cheese, onions, tomato, jalapeño, lettuce, mustard, and sour cream. It's quite the deal given the size for the price! They also offer some other unexpected menu options I haven't seen at many other Mexican joints in town. This includes Brochetas (chicken, beef or shrimp skewers), Tacos de Choriqueso (sausage and cheese tacos), and Seafood Quesadillas. Vegetarians will also rejoice over their selection of Tacos de Rajas (pasilla peppers with onion), Calabacita (squash), or Chile Suizo (pasilla peppers with cheese), and Veggie quesadillas. You'll also be happy to know they don't use lard but instead 100% vegetable oil! From the flavor of their food, I never would have known! I do wish they didn't charge extra for chips, however, they do have an assortment of fresh, complimentary, homemade salsas, along with unlimited chopped cilantro, cilantro and onions, and whole jalapeños. I've been coming more often for their shrimp burrito. It comes with chips and they have a good selection of salsas. They have indoor and outdoor seating, I usually come with my dog so we chill outside. The staff is always smiling and kind. WRONG! We ordered the chorizo breakfast burrito and a bowl of menudo. The chorizo burrito was nothing but 1 spoon full of chorizo filled with a shit ton of beans. Basically a bean burrito... for $8. So my judgement is based on the fact that we didn't get to taste the actual chorizo bc it seemed like there wasn't any in there and we only tasted the beans instead... not worth it. The menudo wasn't any better. It tasted like tripe in some oily plain broth ... No flavors. We squeezed a bunch of lemons and it got slightly better. Staff was nice. They were pretty busy. By the other reviews I'm guessing a regular carne asada burrito would have been better... we messd up by getting breakfast burritos. read more

Absolutely love El Sitio! When I want an authentic Mexican meal, I don't need servers or nice tables or anything but good flavored meat, a delicious tortilla and an arrangement of tasty sauces. I don't come here for the atmosphere or any other, but service is fast and efficient, food is great and I'm always happy with what I receive. One of the reasons I absolutely love El sitio and crave it often is because they grill or "toast" their burritos. Another reason is because they don't put pineapples in their adobado (which is tradition I know.. but I don't like mixing savory and sweet, FIGHT ME). A classic asada buritto is also delicious. Grilling the tortilla gives it a nice crunchy feel along with the soft and chewy goodness on the inside. Not many places do this and they do it well. Love the choriqueso and raja tacos! Carne asada burrito is my fave with cheese. The burrito is so big i always have left overs for the next day. They have a very tiny salsa bar with spicy tomatillo, mild red sauce, pico de gallo, and roasted jalapeños. It was ready when I walked in. The person who rang me up was super nice, too. We ordered one torta de asada, one burrito adobada, and some tacos de asada. We agreed that everything was delicious! Love this place primarily because I think I had the best burrito there. They accommodated my request and made a burrito out of one of their tacos. I would suggest asking for little rice and beans because they oftentimes overload on those in the burrito. Horchata was good. The salsa selection is great, they also have fresh grilled jalapeños/serranos? on the side. The chips are good, not too greasy. The employees are very kind, and the burritos are huge. Maybe a spoon or the cream container broke and fell in there somehow and it's not their fault. But no I went back and the supervisor was very rude. I showed her the burrito and the plastic and she rolled her eyes and said they don't have anything with white plastic there so it couldn't have been in the burrito. She then said "well what do you want. Another burrito?" NO at this point I was beyond upset by her response and denial so I asked for a refund. She then kept on repeating on how they don't have any sort of plastic anywhere there so she doesn't know. I asked for a refund again, I didn't care that she doesn't have that plastic there because regardless it came in my burrito and was pretty painful. I didn't go to argue or anything just an apology and refund but no I got treated like as if I was making this up for some reason. She eventually agreed to a refund and then kept on muttering on how that plastic isn't even from there and they'll have to check cameras. Lady that's great to hear! I wasn't feeling the magic here. Nor had I felt the magic in coming here several times over several years. I ordered two tacos from the cheapish menu, my friend got two tacos from the cheapish menu, and he also got a hortchata. $14. That's not very hole-in-the-wall cheapish, and this is definitely not a linen service kind of place. Think taco stand with plastic tables that just happen to have a permanent roof overhead. The cheapish menu offers simple beef, pork, or vegetable tacos, and are in the $2.80 range. Pay $5-7, and you get a more interesting meat concoction and *three* tortillas. The lunch combo, which I did not get, is about $9. The burrito options might be the better way to go, they are around $6 with a wide selection of meat fillings. We felt underwhelmed. The salsa selection was slim pickings, although they did have whole roasted small chiles and I hadn't seen that at other taquerieas in Old Town. I got a taco chuleta and taco de rajas. They were fine, I'm here to tell the tale, but if given the option of places in Old Town Goleta, I would probably dine elsewhere. Cash only. Ordered a chili verde burrito which was tasty but seemed to lack spice and chili; the pork was pretty tender and tasty. Pretty big burrito for the money so I was happy with it. I love El Sitio so much - pretty sure they are my favorite Mexican restaurant in Goleta and Santa Barbara. The Adobada Mixto is the BOMB, seriously the best plate of deliciousness I have experienced (hot mix of mushrooms, poblano peppers, cheese, and adobada with fresh hot tortillas for making your own tacos - add their medium spicy pico de gallo salsa and you are in for a treat.
