As a regular we feel well-acquainted enough to give high marks for the Ruddy Duck. We have enjoyed dinner at the Duck two of the past 3 nights. We ordered different items from the menu each time...all were excellent. The servers are skilled and seek to accommodate most requests that are within reason. There is a friendly vibe to the dining area as tables fill with resort guests and Running Y residents. Great place to enjoy an excellent meal and setting, as well as the caring staff. read more

Highly recommended if you want a nice dining experience in Klamath Falls area. My wife and I were wanting something nice and decided to try the Ruddy Duck. Nice atmosphere and the view from the outside dining area is great! It was a bit cold outside and the host gave my wife a nice blanket to keep warm. She also brought over two heaters for us. The fish and chips were perfect and not overly greasy (like I've had at other places). My wife liked her smash burger, too. We will return whenever we are in the area again. read more

Gayle and I had dinner her last night with Jim and Erin. Within the Running Y resort, this is the place to dine. CONS - I had a hard time getting past all the cobwebs on the outside of the building as we sat outdoors. +/- - Food was just OK. Jim and I ordered Cobb salads of which I've had better and worse. Erin and Gayle split a steak dish of which both lost interest after awhile. I really think that this restaurant has the run on the whole town. I think this is the only restaurant in this town. Anyway, the restaurant was very nice, and the food servers were very kind too. This restaurant was very accommodating for children and for dogs very friendly. The views are amazing. We all enjoyed their menu very much. The only thing I wish that they had Was a little bit more on the menu. My husband is wanting Italian food, pasta, spaghetti. HH daily 3p-4p. Our room wasn't ready yet so we went to sit at the bar. Unbeknownst to us it was HH. Hubby and I each had a draft beer pint size. When ready to pay our tab we were told $10. Wow, weren't we surprised. You save $1 off each beer. Can't beat that. Of our five nights stay, we dropped in four times. The bartenders/servers are very attentive and personable. One day we ordered HH fries. Many different dipping sauces to choose from. I went with ranch. The fries are seasoned. Our last day we did HH food. Hubby & I shared the cheeseburger served on a pretzel bun. Got a side of tots with it. The burger patty itself was warm but overall the burger lukewarm because the bun isn't toasted. And it's already dressed for you with lettuce tomato and onion which are cold. Also ordered the California flatbread at the suggestion of the server. That was excellent. Topped with grilled chicken, red bell peppers, and cubes of avocado and drizzled with a sauce. The restaurant is convenient if you don't want to drive into town which is a 7 mile drive from the resort. This restaurant is inside the Running Y Lodge. It looks upscale on arrival, however, the tables were all dusty, the chairs needed wiped, and the floor swept. We were there at 11:30 on a Tuesday with only 1 other table. Plenty of time to tidy up. We ordered the fish and chips ( their signature item according to the menu) Definitely not in house prepped. My girlfriend had pork katsu, which was served over a bowl of rice and without any vegetable. She said she'd had better pork katsu from the deli at Safeway. Really bad. Front side service was good, but it took the kitchen over 30 minutes to make a house salad, the blue cheese dressing was delicious. Then it took nearly an hour for the steak to come out. Had the ribeye steak, it was just ok, it was $42, but was like a sizzler steak. The mashed potatoes were not very good, over whipped and like glue, needed some milk or butter to make them less stiff. My patty melt had very little grilled onions, a small prefab patty on it and small marbled rye bread. Not impressive for the price. My husband enjoyed his fish tacos, though there was more iceberg lettuce than fish. This is listed as one of the best resturants in klamath falls. However when I was here there were understaffed and the food was not great. If you have a good server trust their recommendations because they hear quickly when something is off. And at the here things can be way off. We disregarded this once and ordered a rib eye which ended up being mealy and fatty with no favor. For now I avoid making the trip this far out unless I want good outdoor searing in nice weather. read more

We came here for breakfast. The food portions were large and the servers were very nice and helpful. I ordered the scramble with bacon and all the veggies. They didn't skimp on any ingredients! The only thing is that it was a bit too salty. So was our other meal of eggs and bacon. It would be great if they could reduce the salt a bit. They offer both inside and outside dining. I'm sensitive that I'm judging this place after only having a modest snack and a beer, but I was compelled to write this review based upon the cleanliness of its outdoor patio (or lack there of). This is a beautiful setting. The bar and interiors are beautiful. The view off the outdoor patio is spectacular. But the concrete pavers and seat cushions were covered with spilled ketchup and other food substances. It was gross and reminded me of my fraternity. This is a high end property and to not have a regular cleaning/pressure washing regiment tells me this restaurant is poorly managed. If I owned this property, this operator or manager would be fired. So why 2 stars and not 1 star, our server was great and the food was pretty good. Ruddy Duck you need thorough cleaning, and then an ongoing cleaning regiment to meet the lofty market perception of the Running Y. read more

We had a terrible experience at ruddy Duck. We were staying at one of the vacation units and went there just once for dinner. We had a play to attend, so we gave ourselves plenty of time just in case restaurant is busy and food may take a while. Once we got there, it was fairly empty. We were seated right away. The problems started after we put in our order. It took one hour for the food to arrive. That was after we asked the hostess to go check on our food. We couldn't even get our server's attention. He mostly ignored us the whole evening. Of course the food did not come in the usual order either, I got my soup after my entree. The food was so-so. My food was very salty, my son's pasta had no salt. The sirloin steak was ok but it was not a $42 steak! Margherita Flatbread was the one item that no one complained. The cocktails were also ok. Paying for the food was as slow as getting the food. Our server was standing at a computer station about 15feet away from us, facing towards our table. But we just couldn't get his attention to bring us the check. I then asked another server, who told him that we were asking for our check, and he still ignored it. After another 5 minutes, I had to walk to the bar and ask them to get us our check so we can pay and not be late to our play. The hostess had to go get our server from the kitchen. The cherry on the top was, she was inside telling him that I was pissed and laughing while repeating what I said: "It is the worst service I ever got". The door opened at the exact wrong time and I saw this happen. As they were laughing inside, she noticed that the door was open and stopped but it was too late. So for the first time ever, I left a restaurant without tipping. I didn't like doing that, but the hostess laughing about it rather than taking it seriously was the final drop in the bucket. We left the resort already but even if we were staying longer I wouldn't be back at this establishment. read more

We had dinner and breakfast here, only stayed for one night. Not sure why the reviews aren't the greatest. We were seated promptly, had water and someone helping us immediately with drinks and menus. We had the Tuscan pasta and coq au vin with cocktails. The food and service were absolutely fantastic and delicious. My cocktail wasn't very good because the person was distracted talking to people for a long time. Breakfast was just as great, got seated and helped very quickly. It is the weekend of my nephew's graduation. Ruddy Duck has a beautiful ambience, lodge design and very immaculate. Our reserved table for 8 had been given away earlier to a group who wanted to move inside. We had to wait a half hour for out reservation. They made good and provided two free appetizers which were very tasty...charcuterie board and chicken wings. The board was our favorite...cheeses, peppers, meats, jam. All very good. We had salmon, beef pasta, fettuccini Alfredo with large shrimp, chicken piccata. The beef pasta came out and had way more fat than meat. It was as if the meat had been shaved off and put aside. But again they made good, we sent it back and when it came back out the meat was very tender and was amazing. Fettuccini was also sent back because it was cold. We heard some of the cooks were new and they were short staffed. I gave four stars because they really tried, and we had a good experience, ultimately good food and again a beautiful restaurant We all said we would definitely come back but confirm our reservation about a half hour before The staff was very apologetic and made our graduation celebration a wonderful experience read more

Let's start with positive, outside seating has a beautiful view and dog friendly. I wouldn't say this is a destination place to seek out the cuisine but more of a necessity of the only place on the ranch. Our take-out experience was perfect when we arrived after a long day of traveling. Cassidy assisted me, and everything was hot and on point. Kudos for adding in chocolate cake for my sons birthday at no charge. We went to the patio everyday for lunch. Views were great and accommodating for our dog. Food was average but not dismal. Items were forgotten and finally showed up. Yes, much room for improvement but that is where management needs to step in and identify the problem. They could have an epic spot and opportunity for more revenue. I will be going back in a month and let's hope I can have an updated review. read more

Dinner on the 8th of February. There were 3 of us. Having drinks and ordered the charcuterie board. It was well presented and tasty. Decided to go ahead and order dinner. 2 of us had the salmon, my husband ordered the rib eye. Waitress asked hissteak was to be cooked, I then, asked her to please inform the kitchen to please cook or salmon medium (as most cooks need reminded you don't need to cook fish well done!). Entrées came out and the fish was brutalized. We both got the tail piece and both were cooked the same... over done. I had the Waitress it and took it home for the dogs. I had dinner here the fish and chips are excellent and as you can see in the picture not the usual coating. They could easily be a coast restaurant and be considered some of the best on the coast. Breakfast was equally good I forgot to take a picture of my ranch scramble burrito, but it was also really good. Others have complained about service and I found that to be excellent. Both times I was in the restaurant was off perk times. Looks to me like they've fixed the service issues others have complained about. read more

To be honest, one of the bright spots of the Running Y Ranch is the Ruddy Duck Restaurant. Normally, eateries attached to hotels/resorts are hit-or-miss. After having dinner and breakfast there, it's a hit! The Ruddy Duck has an indoor and outdoor section, which is great because of the scenic views that the Running Y has makes dining that much better of an experience. Though, I must say that I highly recommend dining indoors at night. More on that in a second. The inside is nice and cozy, with not a ton of décor, so it is a tad dull. Personally, not a deal-breaker for me since I'm more about the food. But something to keep in mind if your looking for an atmospheric restaurant. Regardless though, the staff does a great job keeping the inside clean. In short, there are tables, the bar and some TVs. Comes in handy if you're wanting to keep tabs on sports while on your visit. The outside is stunning, whether it be day or night. The patio is adorned with comfortable tables, patio furniture and some fireplaces. Taking full advantage of the scenic area that they are blessed with. But that's where it kind of ends in terms of a pleasant experience. So before I complain here, I fully acknowledge that the Ruddy Duck is nestled in an area of nature and that is bound to attract plenty of insects. My complaint isn't the bugs, my complaint is the amount of dead bugs on the furniture, particularly. Again, I'm sure the staff does clean them as much as possible, but for something like this, the furniture should be swapped out for cushions that won't collect the carcasses of insects. It's not exactly something you want to see when eating. Food: So what kept me wanting to come back is the food. Something to consider, in the Klamath Falls area, there isn't a ton of options. You literally need to drive 15 miles just to get to a Jack-In-The-Box. Being so secluded, and wanting a good meal, this is a great option. To put things into perspective, we stood there for about three days, only ate their twice because of the constant traveling. More times than not, I would have preferred to eat there. But what are the options? Love their Bison Burger, it was a little small, but burger was tasty and the fries were nice and crispy. There quite a few appetizers to choose from too. Their breakfasts are pretty solid. Highly recommend eating the omelets on the metal tables outside overlooking the scenic grassy areas. Looks beautiful and made me feel at peace being there. Last thing is the drinks. They are a little strong, which is great because you actually feel like it is worth the money. While the drinks aren't insta-worthy or exotic, they are still tasty when you want to drink a bit. Staff: The staff at the Ruddy Duck was very attentive and was more than happy to make suggestions. Kept the inside really clean and liked to joke around. I like that kind of experience. Price: Keeping in mind the location and the product you receive, I thought the price was fair. You can have more affordable dining experiences elsewhere, but it probably won't be as good. This basically comes down to budgeting. This isn't overly expensive at all. Just something to keep in mind. Overall: Truthfully, my favorite part of my stay at the Running Y Ranch was dining here. While, I don't know if I'll ever stay there again, if I do, I will certainly make an effort to dine there more. read more

We ate here the first night of our stay at the Running Y Ranch Resort. I would suggest making a reservation. We were told by the front desk staff at the hotel that we wouldn't need one, but dinner was packed. They were luckily able to fit us in though. The menu had JUST changed that day and they hadn't printed the changes yet. They were also out of a few things on the menu like the New York Strip, which is what I would have ordered. Instead I got the Rib Eye and my husband got the salmon. We both liked our dishes, but they weren't great. My steak was slightly overcooked - not a dealbreaker or anything, but just didn't have a ton of flavor. Even the bleu cheese butter didn't add much flavor to it unfortunately. The service was really slow, but there was only one waiter. He was working his butt off - it wasn't his fault, but I think we waited about 45 minutes for our food to come out of the kitchen. Again, the waiter was a good waiter, he was just overworked serving everyone in the restaurant, including the outside guests. He did give us some great tips for the area though, since we were heading to Portland next and we took his advice to drive through the Umpqua National Forest and stop at the falls which was GREAT advice (it's gorgeous). I don't imagine a time when we'd be out that way again, and I'd give it a second shot if we were, but wouldn't be a regular customer there. read more

The atmosphere is quite nice and with ample waitstaff and bartenders my hopes were high. Moderate dinner menu selections with a narrow range of protein selections likely do to the remoteness of the area. I would have liked more of a choice than steak, pork and the two fish dishes but I get it. We ordered and one member of our party had particular deductions from his selection (hold the roll and swap the blu cheese butter for regular butter as a steak topping). When the plates arrived, it was obvious that the butter was indeed the blu cheese butter and questioning the server she stated "I did it myself" ok......45 seconds later another staff member brings us the normal butter. Oh and the potatoes were absent from his dish as well, guess the back of the house was confused or communication dropped somewhere. The rest of the plates were lack-luster at best. Soggy fish n chips, boring and insipid scampi, the pineapple pork chops were moist and cooked well but still needed some pizzaz. All in all, if in a bind, a good place to belly up to the bar and grab some apps and a beverage but maybe hit up the Indian restaurant 100 yards away for a better dining experience. read more

The egg dish was barely adequate but coffee was cold and the tomato juice was warm. We were asked twice by people besides our waiter if we needed anything! One comment specifically..... I have NEVER been in a restaurant that had sooo many people walk right past the maitre' de desk AND the sign that said wait to be seated and stroll onto the outside patio just expecting to grab a table!! Even slightly harrassed the wait staff and maitre' de to get them a table outside!! All were very politely walked back inside to explain there was no seating available outside! Again, RESERVATIONS! Means even though a table is empty doesn't mean it's yours! There are people arriving that took the time to think ahead and RESERVE a table!! Comfortable inside sitting with a beautiful outside patio adorned with fire tables and an incredible view. So what the problem...policy! There is no service on the patio! Why? Why do I have to continually walk in to order food and drinks? Why would you not have service on your own patio? When you order food to consume on the patio, they don't serve it on plates. It's all in to go boxes!?! Why? I just wanted to join your restaurant, on your own patio, and enjoy a meal. Also, simple things like bread is provided in the restaurant with you meal; however, if you order it on the patio with your meal it is extra!?!? As for the food...the jalapeño mac and cheese was really good, and the skirt steak was over cooked. The food was good, but disappointed that a steak could not be cooked to order. Stayed at Running Y Ranch Resort and ate here for dinner & breakfast. Dinner was delicious however our medium rare steak was seriously over cooked, much closer to well done. Breakfast was less than spectacular. Coffee was cold, food mediocre but the biggest complaint would be that one entree was never put in. By the time the kids were ready to go, as they finished their plates, my breakfast arrived. Potatoes were somehow cold and undercooked and the poached eggs were rather watery.
