Food wasn't anything special. The booth seats were torn and shabby. The service is obviously catered to the locals who go there frequently. Thing is, I live here now, and could be a repeat customer if the waitress was available to ask how I was doing. I had a burger that was REALLY messy and the bun soggy - and I couldn't flag her down for a napkin. I know she saw me because she had my bill the very second I finished my last bite. Most customers looked like the red cult anyway, so there are plenty of other places to patronize. I eat out at least once a week. Two stars because I didn't die, but I won't be back. read more

Stopped by there today. I should have known better. Every time I've gone there the food was ok at best and service was bad. No different today. Had a the deli lunch special. Chicken soup was awful. I told waitress I didn't want it. She offered fries instead. I said ok. Fries sat up in the shelf where the cooked placed them for five minutes while the waitress stood talking to a table behind me the entire time. When she walked away from the table I told her to nevermind the fries. She said they were ready. I told her they had been ready five minutes ago. I was already done eating my sandwich and I'm sure the fries were cold. There is no excuse for this kind of service. That's it. I won't go back there again read more

I actually really like this place. It is an old diner. It has been here for a very long time and it has barely changed. The food is diner style and it is good 90% of the time. It's kinda like any black bear diner or Denny's. You pretty much get what you expect. Would I be excited to go back? Not really. Was it convenient and did its job of getting me fed. Yes :-) Food was under seasoned and bland, but a little hot sauce and added black pepper helped. I sat in a booth next to windows and the window sill had not been cleaned in a very long time. We had great salads, mine was a grilled shrimp on spinach and my wife had a chicken Cesar. We had appetizers of sautéed mushrooms and jalapeño poppers. Our server Carlie was great, very attentive and brought us water when asked, checked in just the right amount time. Since we were staying next door at a motel we also got an additional 10% discount. I started out with the chicken noodle soup, which was actually very good. I then ordered the sirloin steak... and I have to say I was very underwhelmed. The steak was dry and tough to cut, I had to drench it in A1 sauce unfortunately. I ordered it with the mushrooms and steak, and both of them were cold. The mashed potatoes had no flavor, and were in desperate need for garlic salt!! Too bad though because the restaurant itself was super nice. I'm pretty disappointed. read more

Standard diner fare. Food was a bit on the salty side. I ordered the hot roast beef w/ mashed potatoes, and 1-pass salad bar. On the plus side, the potatoes were real. On the downside, I could have saved myself $2.50 on the salad bar, because it was pretty sad; a basic side salad would have been pretty much the same with no extra charge. We were late arrivals into town staying at the hotel next door. We walked in 45 minutes before closing and you could tell they were a bit bummed being it was close to closing time. They were still very accommodating to us, especially after we said we were just wanted a beer and a piece of pie. While enjoying our pie and beer a situation occurred with a customer who was trying to swindle a free meal by complaining it wasn't cooked correctly or something of the sorts. He made a scene when they asked him to leave and said he had never been so disrespected in his entire life. The girls working there handled the ordeal very well. Being from Vallejo CA, this behavior does not phase us at all. But the staff approached us, apologized profusely and said our $15.00 bill was on the house. We refused to take the generous offer and left a $20 on the table. I hope they don't have to continually encounter people like that all the time. We used to frequent here. Food was on par. Service was reliable and mostly consistent... and tonight happened. So I asked for lemon pepper chicken breast. Comes with soup or salad, veggie and choice of potatoe. I asked for mushrooms to replace veggie and was presented with no other options. My hubs asked for chicken fried steak. Without hesitation, he said he'd like a salad (comes with meal). I asked if I could also get a salad (comes with meal) and was told "I'll have to ask about that." In the meantime she's tending to two active tables. And we have no utensils. Hubs got up to get his salad then proceeded to hunt for a fork, no luck. She comes around by accident, he flags her down to get a fork. In the meantime I'm still waiting for her "answer" because I didn't want to cause a scene, nor did Inget an "answer" about the salad. Nothing. Get our meal. What I got was great, but not what I asked for (remember, I asked to replace veggies with mushrooms). My hubs got his chicken fried steak with veggies, and the waitress wrote down the salad as a side. While I'm waiting to hopefully rectify (or make amends) with the situation, she's on her cell phone, texting in front of the cook. I will say, food was amazing but the structure was horrendous. For Mother's Day, my son got my mother and I a gift certificate for dinner. We went with my mom's best friend as well. We both got the fillet mignon and it was superb. My mother's friend had a pasta dish. All of the food was excellent and waitstaff was very educated about the specials and took great care of us while we were there. I recommend you make reservations for special occasions or holidays. The prices are a bit steep, but overall worth it. My only slightly negative comment would be that when you order a glass of wine, they pour less than half of a glass, which is a bit disappointing in light of the prices. read more

This was the most depressing restaurant ever. The waitress was trying her best , but the cool was just such a bully. He would just destroy her everytime she turned in an order. I.e. you should have written steak medium not medium steak.... the whole place could hear him verbally abusing the help. this old guy need to be ran out of town. Rice pilaf is not white rice with diced carrots and peas sprinkled in. My steak tasted like it came out of the freezer and was defrosted in the microwave. This place is trash. read more

We decided it was time for good and red rooster was on the same property as the hotel we were staying at. We said let's give it a try. They staff was friendly and treated us when we entered. There was a large menu choice and reasonable prices. Our food was well prepared and tasty. If looking for something similar after a long drive, this is the place. Since I'm a sucker for a deal, I took the next-door motels offer of trying Red Roosters for 10% off the bill...just show my motel key. I ordered the $7....2 pancakes, 1 egg, 1 bacon and coffee item that was listed on the menu. When paying, and showing my motel key, the waitress told me that they won't give a 10% discount because it's a "special offer" even though it's a regular printed item on the regular menu and not even the "special of the day." What's the motel staff supposed to do? Tell customers about every restaurant offering 10% off except when they get to the Red Rooster always state the disclaimer: "But the exception is the Red Rooster next door where some items on the menu are excluded from this crazy unheard of 10% off offer." Ok fine... No 70 cent discount applied, so therefore no $2 tip to that same cashier/waitress and I'll never eat there again. I hope they can do the math. read more

We were staying at Days Inn next door. I had both breakfast and dinner there. Breakfast was decent - only 6.50 for eggs, ham, country potatos, and toast. You would pay 2x that down in the Bay Area. Had senior special for dinner - New York steak and it was poor - tough and tasteless - it was 12.50 and included soup, vegetables, and potatos. But it really was only a little bit better than a tv dinner. Wine was good though - a full glass of merlot for 3.50 - normally you pay upwards of 10 bucks in one of those hoity toity places in Cali. It was pretty tasteless except for the over abundance of pepper and this kind of yellow stuff mixed in, turns out the yellow stuff is the chicken flavoring from Top Ramen and it's in the gravy. This place I feel is barley surviving off of the hotel customers seating is Terri or one or two worker is all you got and they running around and not the nicest at all, seems more focused on the bar end. There's a lot to love about the Red Rooster. I, for one will visit again every time I come through Klamath. If you're in search of exactly the same cookie cutter chain restaurant/lounge just keep going.
