They really stepped it up a notch at Ruby Thai Kitchen inside the food court at Oakridge Mall in South San Jose. Cashiers are friendly. I only remember the place as a takeout foods fast foods. They actually have Beef Rib Bone Noodle Soup $17.59 and Mango Coconut Pudding $5.00 here. I had a spicy bowl and the beef rib bone was huge! Meat was softer and more tender than crockpot style meats. It may taste a bit bland, but ok. Dip it into the hoisin chili sauce and sprinkle the lime juice. This one meat can feed 2-3 people. I can only finish 1/3 of it and was very full. Mifun noodles were good. Decent for food court selections. Soup wasn't too salty. Vegetables were plentiful. Honestly, I didn't expect to eat a large beef rib bone today, but wow, it's huge! Mango coconut pudding was on the watery and softer texture side, but delicious to drink. Staffs were nice people. It's good to see improvements here. I would try other noodle soups if convenient. It's not my regular spot or preference for eating out, but for food court quality, their foods don't taste bad here. If you're looking for huge portions in one order to feed a few people, they definitely have huge portions for noodle soups. It's hard to judge a familiar spot by the cover. My lunch was decent, so maybe 3.6-3.7 stars for review? I'll leave a 3 for now, but noodle soups are worth exploring. It still lacks standard good restaurant quality in a way, but no complaints. Overall, I'm satisfied for food court vibes.

Combo 2 (Lomein, Fried Rice, Grilled BBQ Chicken, Bang-Bang Chicken)

Wanted to stop by the mall food court because we were hungry. Got the Combo 2 with lo mein, fried rice, grilled chicken and bang bang chicken. As a person who's not a fan of Panda Express, I wasn't expecting much from a place that pretty much operates like a Panda Express but I was pretty impressed. The 2 chicken entrees we chose were not dry at all. The grilled chicken was my favorite, tasted good and moist. The bang bang chicken is a fried chicken with sauce and I typically expect those to be dry on the inside but nope! That one was perfectly juicy as well! I might have gotten lucky with a fresh batch but I was very impressed. Nothing to note about the fried rice and noodles. They were both ok. If I was ever hungry at the mall again, I would come back for the grilled chicken again

01/22/26 stopped by to try something new. Glad I did. We ordered the beef noodle soup and a won ton noodle soup. Both of them very good. The price to portion was good. Staff very nice. Cooking stations looked clean. One thing I like about ordering soups at a food court restaurant is soups are made to order and are fresh. You get it hot. Better than food sitting in containers under a heat lamp or over hot water. The dining area is maintained by the mall. Depending on when you come it can be very busy. I would recommend this place.

My brother and I have been going here forever. The food is always 100%. The service is has always been intentive. I love their noodles and their chicken.

Look at that and try to tell me that doesn't look f***ing mouthwatering.

Why the hell does this place have 3 stars right now? That's ridiculous. I was there the other day and they practically saved my life. I'm health conscious and that whole food court is effed for people like me----except for Ruby Thai Kitchen! While the Apple Store system was down and I had a choice to either sit in two hours of traffic going back to Santa Cruz or wait and get some food, I walk by, and the restaurant next to Ruby tries to entice me with a sample of some meat. I said I am a vegan and asked if they had anything with tofu. The man at Ruby said "we have tofu" and pointed to not just one, not just two, not even just three, but a whole bunch of vegan options. I ended up going with a soup, which was very impressive for what was technically fast food. The tofu was divine. Honestly it was surprising. I also enjoyed the fried plantains. I went back to the Apple Store less hangry and satisfied. Thank you for having actual vegan options. What is wrong with all these other restaurants and chains? More and more people are leaning toward ethical diets that don't involve breeding, torturing, and ruthlessly murdering animals so fat people can get fatter. Yes, I said it. I hope you all enjoy my candid comment.

Order 2 plates when I got the food and I was eating it there was a piece of metal in one of the plates. This is a health hazard they need to be more careful I will not be returning ever

Love this place as my new default go to for Asian food at the mall. The line for chicken teriyaki is way too lunch during peak meal times, but Ruby Thai has short lines that serve their customers well with quality food and service. What I ordered: -Lo Mein: Not too oily noodles, but could use more seasoning since it was on the dry side. -Mango Chicken: An absolute banger in their meat options. It's a customer favorite all around with its crunchy, tender meat. -Lemongrass Shrimp: Be advised that this menu item has an added fee since shrimp is a premium, but the seasoning was so well done on the shrimp. Mellow flavor from the lemongrass and crispy from the golden battered shrimp.

I usually mostly get food from Ruby Thai Kitchen when I'm at the mall, either at Westfield Oakridge or Great Mall. They're usually the same in terms of quality/taste and quantity. I get the fried fish and the Singapore noodles. They're both pretty delicious. I like the shrimps too. The curry chicken is another entre to try! The Thai Iced Tea never disappoints. Overall, a good place for a quick grab and go!

Lemon garlic shrimp never disappoints! One of my favorite food stands at Oakridge! The Singapore vermicelli noodles are very good too! Although I don't recommend the pad Thai, too little flavor for me.

Mango chicken combination plate. Chicken good. Noodles terrible and cold. Fried rice was average. 2 out of 5 stars.

The pad Thai tasted like vomit and the panang chicken tasted like lemon pledge. NASTY AF.

Well the risk paid off as all my picky family members enjoyed EVERY dish. Admittedly I am pretty shocked. We ordered: Crispy Fried Calamari: deep fried, chunky tender pieces of calamari that was perfectly portioned for our smaller group Tom Yum Fried Rice: fragrantly fried with a good lemongrass flavor Hat Yai Fried Chicken: light crisp outside and oh so tender and not dry on the inside. Southern Pad Thai: ok Must Be Thai. You get us. This is the first place to live up to my family's level of spice. There is a reason it is marked "SS" on the menu representing "Seriously Spicy". Kiddo and I loved it. NSFCP (Not Safe for Canto Parents) however lol. Overall, we really loved the variety of the regional Thai dishes, flavors, and textures. Can't wait to go back. Hoag Me:

The panaeng curry was flavorful and heavy. It looked small but made me full quite fast. I had to take leftovers. The pork itself was okay it was a bit overcooked :o The thai tea was alright i've had better and it was a bit warm. The vegetable pad thai was perfect. Noodles were chewy and very saucy. I would definitely come back to get this and add a bit more spice as well.

We ordered the roti, crispy pork belly, sausage, Laos style papaya salad, and a khao soi to share between 3 people. All of the food was absolutely delicious but we felt like the portions were a little small for the price. The pork belly and sausage were both ~ $23 and didn't come with as many pieces as we thought it would. This was some of the crispiest roti I've ever had! I loved the curry dipping sauce on the side and the nice crunch of the cucumbers. The pork belly was slightly overcooked, a little hard but the flavors were great! The sausage tasted house made, it had a great tang to it and I loved the variety of dipping sauce. We ordered extra spicy/hot for the Laos papaya salad but it was definitely medium. The khao soi was very comforting on a cold day and the broth was rich and creamy. I'd definitely come back if I was in the area!

Everything tasted just okay, very mediocre overall. The Pad See Ew had a weird bitter aftertaste that made it hard to enjoy. The Pad Thai was also disappointing; the noodles were clumped together and lacked flavor. We didn't finish either dishes. For the price, I expected much better quality and taste. Probably wouldn't come back.

I need to start off by saying I never had good vegetarian food. I hate vegetarian food. I am a meat…read moreeater and need it for every meal. Fox Tale Fermentation is a small place like a Japanese ramen shop. My high school classmate suggestion this place and I thought she was vegetarian. I asked her why this place; she wanted to try it out but she's a meat eater. I'm down to try new places so we went. When we went, it was really crowded for a Thursday dinner time. A lady saw my cane and offer her table to sit at so I felt seen. You pretty much order at the front counter; you pour your own water. Front counter was so nice to us as we try to order. We got the funk salad and kombucha. We didn't order a lot because we wanted to try the place. When we got to our table, it was near the door. Our funk salad came and it was hefty mf. It was a bowl of salad all right. So you know how I said earlier that I don't like vegetarian food? OMG I was amazed. The best salad I've eaten. The vinaigrette was so good; it was citrusy. My salad was cut into small pieces so it wasn't big that I need to cut it. The sweet potato was sauteed. The princess sauerkraut was so good. I don't like sauerkraut at all but it was divine. I never tried kombucha because I thought it was dirt tea. I was wrong. It has the fermented taste and I never knew. After trying it, it's not something I would order again. I liked how I was eating "healthy" food after I ate bad yesterday. I don't have that bad bloated feeling. It's very wheelchair friendly and restroom is unisex. The restroom is clean. The establishment is clean. I would go here again if I have a vegetarian visitor. This place rocks!

I thought this place couldn't get any better and it did!…read more I was here on a Saturday night around 7 pm and Fox Tale was very busy but we managed to find a table fairly quickly. The food took a little longer than usual to come out but that was normal considering how busy they were. Our order included the Funk Bowl and Funky Nachos, these are our go-to's because they're so good and filling. This time around we decided to also try the Otoño tacos, this is officially my favorite dish here and I'm hoping it never goes away! The ingredients in this dish work perfectly together and the crema is absolutely delicious, I would definitely buy a jar of this if I could.
