Good selection but way to big servings. My wife I usually share a breakfast. Good food good service

I usually love to eat breakfast here but today I was served my coffee & just a little later my meal. Kins R, my waitress asked if I needed anything else and I asked her to refill my coffee. She took my cup and went back to the kitchen. About a few minutes later, without my coffee refill I turned back to the kitchen and she was standing in some kind of meeting. In about 5-10 minutes, she finally returns to the bar with my coffee. I had no drink to go with my breakfast. Usually they have coffee available on the bar. This is the worst service I ever had here and I use to come in a least once a week. I only tipped her 10% because I received no explanation or apology for not returning with my drink. I usually tip 30% or above here as they have great bartenders but today was very disappointing. read more

Went for brunch and it was delicious. If you go on the weekend, make sure to utilize their Waitlist service. We did not have to wait long and service was quick. We ended up getting... ‍Pride Takes Flight Mimosas || Blackberry Lavender + Blue Orange + Peach Bellini + Strawberry Thyme Crawfish + Grits Benedict || Fried Grit Cake topped with Poached Eggs + Louisiana Crawfish Cream Sauce + Chives Peaches + Cream Seasonal Beignets || New Orleans-style Beignets with Vanilla Cheesecake + Peach Compote topped with Whiskey Cream Sauce + Whipped Cream + Cinnamon Graham Crumble read more

Got online on waitlist and still had to wait significant time to get table (but it was Saturday). Drinks were excellent. Bloody Mary prepared New Orleans way, with horseradish. My wife loved the brandy milk punch. Waiter was attentive and pleasant. Food however was VERY late in coming. Once it finally arrived my Midas was stone cold. Clear problem in kitchen They made me a new plate but my wife had already finished hers by the time mine came. Food was good but not outstanding. We may not have ordered well as some diners meals around us looked great Space is ample and noise level OK. They comped mine at least and apologized profusely. Worth trying again but will order differently. read more

The servers we had were twins, and their service was stellar.I had the trifecta, and my daughters had the tacos, French toast, and fresh fruit. The food was cooked to perfection. The atmosphere was relatively relaxing. The indoor lighting is great for meetings and discussions. read more

Everything was tasty but it would be much more enjoyable for me if salt and sugar were scaled down a notch. I'm sure it may be perfect for some but a bit too intense for me, personally. My favorite was the loaded tater tots (on the salty side for me). The place was inviting and staff was friendly. read more

Ruby Sunshine Homewood - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Birmingham, Alabama

This place was amazing! I hopped on Yelp to find a good brunch spot in Birmingham (I was visiting a friend over the weekend) and settled on Ruby Sunshine. We went Monday morning and there was no wait. I think on the weekends it's packed so be prepared. We got a nice spot on the very large patio and it was perfect. Service was quick and our server was very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful with suggestions. I got the biscuits and gravy and added on the sweet heat style fried chicken. It was amazing! I wish I could eat this everyday! So savory. The bacon was cooked to perfection and the chicken was so crispy and good. Just the right amount of breading. I also tried some of their cold brew iced coffee and it was great! Will definitely visit again next time I'm in Birmingham. I highly recommend this place! read more

Everything about this place is awesome! The chicken and French toast bites is my absolute favorite

I brought my kids to have brunch this morning (because if I have to cook one more time over this winter break- I might lose it). We got to the restaurant and were glad it was open since it's new years. They were super busy! We were told that we would have a 30 minute wait. No biggie! There was not really anywhere to wait though so we headed back to the car to wait. We were seated sooner than 30 minutes. I ordered a boozy iced coffee that was suggested by our server and it was good, but not great. Definitely what I expected though. We went to order our food and I wanted shrimp and grits- she let me know that the grits were super runny today... such a bummer. So I ordered the shrimp Benedict instead. It was good. But not something to write home about and was cold by the time I got it. It tasted good though. My son got beignets (we are from NOLA and used to cafe du monde). These aren't as fluffy or puffed as those, but still tasted good. My daughter loved her food (kids breakfast plate). All in all, we would definitely come back and try some different things. The restaurant definitely has a great feel although I did not see any other kids in there. read more

This weeks brunch edition was at the Homewood location. Although they were fairly crowded, we were put on the wait list with a wait of about 20 to 25 minutes. Our server Katie was personable and prompt with our drink orders. We ordered the fried green tomatoes and candied bacon to start. The tomatoes were pretty good! I think the bacon was overpriced for what we received. Nothing really candied or spectacular about it. I ordered the seasonal mimosa flight for $20. My flight was placed on the table with no explanation of exactly what seasonal flavors they were so it led to a guessing game between my husband and me. Although creative on the seasonal pairings, they were very sweet and tasted like they had very little champagne and a lot of syrup. My husband had the chicken and biscuits, chicken was crispy and had a good flavor. I ordered the crawfish benny. The picture I saw online was somewhat deceiving because what I received did not have as much crawfish as the picture but it was a good flavored sauce. The grit cakes were a little thick for my tastes but the poached egg did a good job of rounding out the dish. read more

One of the best brunch places in town. They have an amazing variety of egg benedict and they also have alcohol for those who want it. Be aware that there are a limited parking spacing so you may need to park and walk. There is handicap spaces so you can bring friends and family who have mobility. You can make reservations early with Yelp and pay with you phone inside. read more

Great service. The food is always delicious. This location is the best out of all the other ones in the area. The cooks do a fantastic job. This place is hoping in the morning. Make sure to text head and get on the list if you plan on eating here on the weekends. I personally recommend the breakfast tacos. read more

I've been trying to come here for months, and finally got to recently visit. Boy, did it not disappoint. The menu is extremely robust, with plenty of brunch and lunch options, no matter your taste. I had the fried chicken biscuit sliders, and everything about the meal was delectable. I recommend getting a side of their spicy honey sauce to eat with your biscuit. I got the Big Easy Mimosa, and it was fresh, delicious, and a generous serving. We sat on the outdoor patio, which was delightful. Service was impeccable, and their COVID protocol includes both a QR-code menu and payment option, which was convenient and easy. Ruby Sunshine is a must-visit for Birmingham brunch locations. read more

Went for a Sunday brunch to ruby sunshine. We had tried to eat at their sister location in New Orleans and it was a 2 hour wait. There was about a 45 minute wait when we arrived and said we would wait it out. Well it was definitely worth the wait. The food gas fabulous and it was all so good. We enjoyed the drinks as well. I normally wouldn't go with a shrimp omelet, but I'm glad I did. We will definitely be coming back here often. read more

We just moved to birmingham and this place was recommended to us, we loved it! The mimosa flight was delicious and a great experience. The French toast bites were super good, we tried the eggs Benedict trifecta and it was amazing! We loved the unique flavors over the normal ham and sauce. The staff were super friendly and the vibe of the restaurant was great.. We will for sure be coming back, this is our favorite breakfast spot. read more

The food is absolutely amazing. Two things I would change: coffee doesn't have much taste (or any at all) and biscuits are way too big which results in an uneven baking and a little undercook of the inside. Nothing critical since you have plenty just by eating the top read more

Great brunch place with lots of options. I would highly recommend the good morning sunshine for your cocktail choice!

We managed to beat the crowd one rainy day during the holiday break. The parking lot is small and this place does typically stay packed. There are other parking options in the area. The interior is cheery and bright with some NOLA inspo decor. There is plenty of seating on either sides of the bar with a cute outdoor space as well. (Basically same set up as Bartaco). The menu is quite impressive - ranging from sugar loaded options, omelettes, pancakes, specialties and a la cart to name a few. I ordered from the Lighter Fare section- skinny migas. It was delicious, I got the egg scrambled hard and it came with avocadoes, tortillas, onions, spinach, tomatoes and pepper jack cheese! Tasty combo! I ordered a side of grits, breakfast potatoes and fruit. What can I say, I like variety! I will be back to try other options! read more

Service was good, the food was okay -- nothing too crazy. I asked for scrambled eggs with cheese and they came out looking more like a fried egg, but I didn't expect too much. The French toast bites were good, but extremely sweet and you only get 2 pieces of bacon $1/per piece. My boyfriend's chicken and French toast (bites) though were delicious! His fried chicken was full of flavor, slightly spicy, which I loved and the French toast bites in his came without the icing -- so not as sweet. A good place, but get the chicken and French toast, skip the French toast bites (too sweet). read more

This is an awesome treasure in the middle of Homewood. It has such a great vibe. We went for breakfast because we wanted something out of the ordinary and memorable. Boy did we find it! I started my meal with a bloody Mary made with bacon infused vodka. The drinks were flowing rapidly from the bar even at 930 a.m. and you could tell the bartenders were having a good time. For our entrees we had the corned beef Benedict and the pancakes with bacon and praline pecans inside. These two dishes are easily some of the best breakfast meals I have had. The staff was high energy, so friendly and helpful. This place is 5 stars all the way. We will be back!! read more

This is one of my favorite places to come for brunch. Even though the parking is very limited I seem to still go back. The staff is really great. They have options of seating inside and outside when weather permits. Today I sat at the bar. I ordered from the Nola Pickelball Menu. I had the seasonal beignets with the roasted sweet potatoes with a hot coffee. This was very good. My to go to place never disappoints! read more

So I visited Ruby Sunshine today for a Galantine Day with my mom and it was fantastic. I had the sweet heat chicken and French toast bites and just say they were delicious. My waiter was very knowledgeable of the menu choices and recommended items to my mom who is a very picky eater. Overall my experience was wonderful from the food being fresh and on time , to the setting of the restaurant being well cleaned and managed. Even though Covid 19 isn't as prevalent as it was 2 years ago the restaurant does a great job of keeping the restaurant clean and even having an option for to-go or outside seating. read more

This is one of my favorite brunch places! I usually build my own omelette, but their breakfast tacos are also delicious. I have also tried their french toast bites and they were the perfect sweetness. They have many options for vegetarians, and accommodate other dietary restrictions. They also have both sweet and savory options to pick from. They are very quick to seat you and also have a waitlist that you could join before arriving there. There is also indoor/outdoor seating options! The waitress and hostess were both very nice. The ambience overall was very enjoyable and the service was good. read more

Peacemaker ($16) w/ Chicken St. Charles & Boogaloo Eggs Benedict: If I could give six stars, then this place would more than deserve it. Let me just start with the fact that the Eggs Benedict's here is on another level. First, they have such variety because you can get the peacemaker (which is what I got) that mix-and-matches any two Benedict's! I got the Chicken St. Charles and Boogaloo for $16 and would highly highly recommend the Chicken St. Charles. I absolutely hate dry biscuits but the biscuits they used were so flavorful and the perfect substitute for the original muffins. Took a day trip from Atlanta to Birmingham one Sunday and decided to check out Ruby Sunshine after searching on Yelp for a good brunch spot. Needless to say, I'm so happy we went here!! I got the catfish and grits, and oh my gosh, it was so good. The grits were buttery and the perfect consistency. The catfish was flavorful and very filling!! The biscuit was also delicious (but way too massive to finish). I forgot what exactly the butter/spread is, but it was basically like honey butter and it's a must try! I loved this cute little brunch spot! The waiting list from YELP worked well and when we arrived it was time to be seated. The food was good, and the House purée mimosa was delicious. I even purchased a T-shirt! The wait... we waited.. and waited until finally I told our waitress that we arrived before a lot of people who was being served their food. I honestly think they forgot so I forgive. Our waitress was really pleasant about this as well. You check out at the table when you're done so you can head out soon after. This is the perfect place for a delicious brunch! I went on Saturday morning around 10 am and it was pretty busy with a 1 - 1 hr 15 min wait (but it was worth it!) My mother and I were instantly seated once I received the notification that our table was ready. Our waitress, Tori, was absolutely the best!! She was very patient (since it was our first time there) and suggested some great options! We both ordered the trifecta, and split orders of the French toast batons and the pig candy bacon. We really enjoyed the variety of flavors that the trifecta offers! The biscuits are so thick and fluffy. The French toast and pig candy bacon were crispy and flavorful! Food was "ok"... what I ordered didn't look like the picture that I saw online. Maybe I caught the chef on a bad day, but the poached egg was well done, and that kind of defeats the purpose of having something with the name of Benedict in it. But I will try again when I get back in town.. Heard the food was awesome so I'll give it a second chance. Didn't take a picture... sorry but was in a rush to catch a flight read more

From service to food, my family and I thoroughly enjoyed everything about this small, Homewood gem. Pancakes weee thick and fluffy, absolutely to die for, the kid's lil champion was the perfect plate for my picky 3year old, and my shrimp and grits were creamy and absolutely packed with flavor. The atmosphere was lowkey but had a nice rustic interior and our server was fast, kind, and knowledgeable. This is definitely our new go-to for a great brunch! read more
