We stayed virtually next door to this place. in September 2023. Having seen some of the reviews I would agree that service is NOT a high point, or strength of the restaurant. Food, however, was very good, otherwise after the first visit would not have gone back a second time. Be aware you will likely require a more patient attitude and expectation. Can't fully explain why it was so slow. It did seem at various times there was no one on the floor. But, as to food, it was very good. We wanted a breakfast and unlike when at home fully indulge in this meal when vacationing. Pancakes, or waffles, butter and syrup aplenty. The pancakes and waffles were of excellent quality and cooked as we asked. The meats was also very good. Fresh coffee was an issue at times because like virtually all restaurants they sever coffee in very small cups. My guess is they feel they are saving a penny or 2 on not serving as much coffee, but then figure into the equation how often someone on the wait staff has to make a trip to that table, doesn't that cost more than a slightly larger cup? As can be expected if you read this I recommend it for quality of food, but it's going to be slow. read more

This place has an amazing laid back atmosphere. You can sit inside out front or on the back. They also have indoor dining. Depending on the weather I recommend outside. They don't take reservations, but you can go to the web site and put your name on the waitlist. The staff here are super friendly. Our waiter Oliver was amazing super helpful, checked on us often, and very knowledgeable of the menu. The drinks are delicious. The food here is amazing, seasoned to perfection. Not Worth the Hype Tried Ruby Sunshine after a friend's recommendation. Service was friendly and the place was clean. Sweet tea was super sweet (great if that's your thing). I ordered the shrimp and grits--unfortunately, it was swimming in a heavy rosemary butter sauce that overwhelmed the dish. No real flavor balance, just greasy and unappetizing. The Ruby in Charleston is awesome but not as good the one in Charlotte. They make a killer bloody Maria for brunch on weekend. Service horrible. Like really horrible. Let me break it down for you. First I had a problem with the QR code for the parking not working. I went inside and the host told me to park in a different spot. I did and the same thing happened. I went back inside but the host was no where to be found. I waited for about 10 minutes and went looking for a worker. She was sitting in the back on her phone. She ended up helping me with the parking . She then left and said the host would help me. Such a fun brunch/breakfast spot and would definitely be my go to place for mimosas. Their mimosa flight was delicious, perfect size and great price. They had a lot menu items and I loved that you could change up what you would want to order by paring different foods and substituting items. They had tons of eggs benedict choices. I've given them 3 tries and there's always something wrong. First they didn't have what I wanted and I didn't know it until I ordered. Then I tried to order something else and the side I wanted wasn't available so I went for the potatoes which came out old and cold. Service was ok. I bumped this to 5 because the server and the service was fantastic. We had a group of 13 and they did a great job with our group. Everyone was happy with their food. The food was mediocre and lacking flavor. Don't waste your time on the beignets they unfortunately tasted like nothing. The place looked cute outside but basic inside. My utensils were sticky and my server was slow so I just had to clean it myself. The French toast bites were crispy as hell. Like why? Why is French toast crispy. The only breakfast place that was open after New Year's Eve in old Charleston and thank God for their bright red umbrellas to indicate they were open for business! It's a classic southern Bruncherie with all the staples and fixings, but better! I am generally not a huge brunch person anymore, but really enjoyed my mimosa and eggs benedict here. I love coming here. The food is delicious and the staff are always friendly and have good energy. They have both inside and outdoor seating, and 2 bars. I like their mimosa tasting flight but I do wish it was more with juice rather than blue Curacao. Overall the drinks are pretty strong. I love their fusion of southern and typical Louisiana staple foods. Their fried green tomatoes are delicious as is their stuffed french toast! You have to come hungry because its no place for a "light" breakfast. I really appreciate the early morning hours (open at 7am) prompt seating, polite/friendly staff, refills on water and coffee. We enjoyed the indulgent French Toast bites starter with the coffee. There's a cream cheese icing and a delightful caramel dipping sauce. The booth was comfy, clean, and bright. The menu was a tiny bit pricey, but I was not sorry to spend a little more than usual for a pleasant dining experience. This place near the waterfront must be new or something, because they were not very busy around noon, yet their food was absolutely fabulous and well-priced. We were looking for a brunch/lunch place after a stroll along the park and the rainbow houses, and we happened upon this restaurant. Our family of 4 ordered a french toast bites appetizer, the costa rican, biscuits and gravy, and "the trifecta," which is one of each of their signature eggs benedict dishes. I got to try some of each, since we're fans of eating family-style. Everything was so good - the trifecta was super filling and it was easy to appreciate the unique aspects of each eggs benny when eating them side by side. My sister, who usually refuses to eat french toast, loved the ones we ordered, since they were soft and pillow-y and irresistably brioche. The eggs and gravy weren't anything to write home about, but the portion was large. The food was ok but I was extremely uncomfortable where I sat because random kitchen staff kept walking past us which made it very unappealing to me. The menu selection was also ok. I got the chicken strawberries & French toast which again was ok but It was so dark I'm not sure whether it was a little burnt, over cooked or they were just using old grease which I hate. Three of us ate here on St. Patty's day. The burger--I think the food was very good and nicely done. 10/10 The Classic French Toast-- it was good right amount of serving size, i got a side of grits and it was delicious 8/10. The service was good! We liked our server. We came during the brunch hour on St. Patty's day so it was super busy and did take over 30 minutes to order and a while for our food, but we were patient considering the circumstances. We were so hungry by the time the food came we forgot to take a photo of it! Lol The bathroom could use some attention especially on busy days like this where a lot of people are visiting, but understand how it can slip through the cracks during rush hours.
