Can't give a zero...one star is being too generous. Service: as a family of 7 it can already be difficult to find a place that will serve us in a timely fashion. We were told a one hour-an hour and 15 min. Wait, with 3 littles we trudged through, in the 92 degree heat with humidity, it's not easy. But at the one hour mark, I checked in and they said 30-35 more min. After 40 more min. We got a text to be seated outside. We saw a table inside ready, and they said, the outside was ready first. They refused to let us sit inside, WITH 4 CHILDREN. And then proceeded to tell us our only option was to wait another 15-20 min. Unacceptable. I've been to Ruby Slipper in Louisiana and have loved their service so hospitable and helpful. This place is trash. Run by people who don't care about the customers that they serve. Drive the 3 hr drive to Louisiana, where southern hospitality is a real thing. read more

Pancakes, French Toast, Breakfast Tacos, and a Breakfast Sandwich (which they can gave me on a hamburger bun instead of a biscuit.... Which was the reason I ordered it in the first place)- all average at very best. Nobody in my family of 6 cleaned their plate. And there were tables around us that had uneaten food as well- like people just got up and left without eating. The only upside was our waiter was pleasant and the restaurant is roomy. Before visiting Pensacola I was searching for someplace that would serve banana foster whether it was a dessert or breakfast I found this great hidden gem in Ruby Slipper Cafe located in downtown Pensacola as many times as I've visited I have never been here and I am so glad that I did the service was amazing from the hostess to the waitress very attentive provided informative information about their menu items fast and very efficient. I opted for the banana foster French toast amazing buttery silky full of flavor sweetness but not overly sweet the bacon was cooked to perfection crispy but not too crispy, He opted for the southern breakfast which consisted of Eggs anyway you like it, grits, Biscuit or toast of your choosing & Bacon everything came out extremely fast fresh and hot I also got the mimosa flight, I was kind of expecting a little bit more from the flight but it wasn't bad definitely will be coming back a few more times before I leave in the next month read more

The service was good and the inside was nice. We ordered the French toast bites as an appetizer and it was delicious. I got the Florentine omelet with spinach and mushrooms and a side salad with a biscuit. The side salad was good. The biscuit was kind of chewy. The omelet was tasty, had lots of cheesy. 4.5 stars. Ruby Slipper is a chain w/ nine locations in Louisiana; two in Alabama; & this one in Florida. The fleet will soon expand into Destin, FL. The Pensacola hours are 7:30 AM to 2 PM weekdays & until 3 PM weekends. Hungry patrons can join the Wait List via YELP or @ the host/hostess stand. Sit inside or choose to sit outside (w/ or w/o a canine.) Parking is street side & free. Definitely a quality establishment! We had friendly, excellent service w/ Jesse. Our food was VERY GOOD. And the dining area was large & appeared clean. However, our introduction to this restaurant could have been better; with two staffers behind the bar & one near the host/hostess stand, not one of them greeted us as we entered. There was awkward silence until I tired of waiting & asked if we should seat ourselves. If I had been in a less-than-stellar mood that morning, I would have suggested we leave to eat elsewhere. Thankfully, Jesse & the food saved the day! He answered our food & general restaurant questions then made food recommendations. We were happy to learn that we could order any two Eggs Benedicts for $16; the savings is known as "The Peacemaker." I highly recommend it for those who like to sample & share. (FYI: Don't look under your egg & hollandaise for an English Muffin; Benedicts here are prepared w/ biscuits.) We decided to split three entrees (SEE PICS); our favorite was the one Jesse suggested-- the HOT HONEY HAM & GREEN EGGS (Benedict) @ $16. It was on the Winter Specials Menu, & it was DELICIOUS w/ its sweet cornbread base & collards-- just a PHENOMENAL Benedict. (NOTE: $1 of each Winter Specials dish goes to a local food bank.) The EGGS BLACKSTONE (Benedict) @ $14 consisted of Applewood-smoked Bacon w/ grilled tomato. It was very good. Our final choice was the BANANAS FOSTERS FRENCH TOAST PAIN PERDU w/ rum flambeed bananas & raisins @ $13. OH, my goodness! Such a GREAT dish. The only alteration I would make to it would be to place the syrup on the side. We took 3/4 of the entree home for the next day, & would have preferred to not have the toast sit in syrup overnight. We ordered a side of Grits w/ Swiss & a side of Grits w/ Pepper Jack. Although they were flavorful (especially the latter) & both cooked well, realizing a slice of cheese was simply melted on top of each was anticlimactic-- definitely not creative recipes. We'll likely try a different side upon a subsequent visit. HAPPY HOUR is daily from opening until 10 AM, so my friend ordered a $10 Bacon Bloody Mary, which cost her just $5. It was tangy-- very good. (It won an area 2021 award for BEST Blood Mary.) There are a total of 11 alcoholic drinks on the menu, as well as bottled & canned beer. There are 3 items in the KIDS'S SECTION: Egg, Bacon, & Toast; Pancake (two varieties) w/ Bacon; & a Burger or Fried Chicken Slider w/ Fries. Each is $5. A Ruby Slipper beside an entree marks a Signature Dish. There's a "Pancake of the Day"-- ask your server for the daily offering. There are 13 side items on the menu, as well as Pure Maple Syrup, Bacon Onion Jam, & Cane Syrup Butter. There are 9 "Sweet Spot" offerings that are served w/ a side of Applewood Bacon. (My Bananas Foster French Toast was one of them.) Sign up for the new RUBY REWARDS program to take advantage of special offers via email. Need an entree that is GLUTEN-FREE or VEGETARIAN?
