Prepare for at least 3 hours all in. Good food but genuinely one of the most poorly managed restaurants ever... so much that it made the food almost not worth it. Even with a reservation you will be waiting 30+ minutes to sit plus another hour to get your food (quite literally, we timed 58 minutes). They're likely understaffed and undertrained. To top it off our server didn't speak English well enough to understand our order. However, the staff, even while dealing with extremely frustrated customers, were overall nice and seemed to be trying their best. Unless management trains the staff a bit better on the logistics and hire more cooks/waiters instead of a live DJ, not worth the visit. read more

We were a party of two, sat on the patio and waited more than an hour for our food while the owner consistently berated the staff. Our breakfast dishes were quite good, but given the horrendous attitude of the the owner -- and her absolute despicable behavior toward our server -- who was lovely, I will never return. Extremely cute space in a neighborhood. Spacious outdoor seating and a beautiful indoor space. I had the American breakfast for $14 and a black coffee for $3.99 . I think that is too much for a black coffee. The meal with Italian Sausage and scrambled eggs came with potatoes that were grilled a yummy.. Went with some friends for brunch today. The food was pretty good. Everything was tasty and the potatoes were excellent! The gluten free waffle was delicious and had good consistency. The staff was very friendly BUT the service was absolutely terrible. It was not busy and still took us 20 minutes to get our drinks (I didn't even get a water after asking 3 times) and the food took another 30-45 minutes. The waitress we had checked on us a total of 3 times and didn't come check on us when we got our food and had to be told my the manager we were ready to check out. The entire visit took about 2 hours between waiting on food and drinks. Granted, our waitress did say she was new and I do think she was trying her best. Overall, I know they are a new business in the community and I would love to give them another chance when they're more established. read more

I came here for brunch on Saturday and from beginning to end it was just a complete disorganized mess. While some team members like the hostess and new bartender were caring and kind, the rest of the staff did not impress me. It took 20 mins to place my order and another 30 mins to get our drinks. When I asked if they could check on my coffee the other server couldn't find my order. Additionally, when I was brought my coffee it was made with regular milk too instead of dairy free for my disclosed allergy. I'm very lucky I asked to triple check before tasting it. This is so concerning for people with more severe allergies - please do not trust this place to be safe for you. At the time we arrived there were limited croissants so I was sure to order one to go right away, but they did not put one aside for us and when the check came they were all out. This was disappointing yet unsurprising given the lack of organization in the entire restaurant. When we received our chicken and waffles - both my boyfriends and my chicken wings looked breaded so completely differently. I could see there was someone expediting the food but clearly they did not have consistency or quality control standards. The food was overall good, not extraordinary, flavor wise but the service convinced me I'd never go back. And to top it off, we never received our side of potatoes and the server didn't apologize for that or for the croissant. He also did not offer any solutions or to comp any part of our meal to try and redeem the lackluster experience. When we went to leave the bathrooms were out of soap (typical) and I overheard another table complain for waiting over an hour to receive their food. Additionally, another server followed us out and asked us to close out as if we were dining and dashing. This server was not our main server so I don't understand why she thought that was appropriate as we had closed our tab 10 mins prior and paid. I expect so much more for this business and there needs to be serious improvements. The owners and managers do not care about the service industry standard and I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Your customers deserve better, the community deserves so much better. read more

Great neighborhood brunch spot! The menu had something for everyone, the Bloody Mary was great and there was a fun DJ on Sunday afternoon.

This place has the potential for good things. But the kitchen needs help-as in hire more people. We waited almost 45 minutes for our food. My breakfast burrito that was supposed to have bacon, sausage and potatoes in it was just sausage cheese and egg. The bartender was very nice and did a great job. I could not see any sight of a manager helping the staff and from the looks on everyone's faces- they had all been waiting a long time. If I didn't have restaurant background and understand that they are doing the best they can, I would have been upset at the wait. To the owners: spend money on labor or you won't last a year. Food was barely 3 stars-- service was 5 because it wasn't her fault. read more

The service is excellent no matter which server. The food is very good and the pastries are grand. The ambiance is great if you avoid the DJ Hour. The music was too loud when we were there then. Eaten there twice, although the food was good, service was not. The 2nd visit was loaded with drama as an issue between staff and management brought the police. Each time my order was delayed and involved several visits by different servers to correct. My second visit I gave up and left as 30 minutes after my order was taken I was informed that my order was not available. I'll give it one more chance, but I'm not optimistic. Went for lunch today, I was really excited to try the food since I've had their pasties before. We got there at noon and there was not a lot of people there. It seemed like there was only one waiter there running around helping people, the place was not really full and he was doing his best to help and take care of everyone. When I looked around it looked like there were three more staff members there but they were not really helping him. Our food took close to an hour and I think we got it because I asked what the ETA was, drinks also took a while to get to our table (no alcoholic drinks). I wish I could have ate my food there but I had to leave after waiting an hour, so I decided to get a box and take it to go, food was ok when I was able to eat it. I had high hopes and wanted to go back for weekend brunch but after this I don't think I'll do that I can only imagine how long the wait is when it's really packed in there... read more

We had a large party so we understood that it might take a little longer for service, but it was extraordinarily slow. It took 45 minutes to get our order in. Some of us ordered plain coffees and didn't get them until we were leaving an hour and a half later. I got a half cup of coffee for $4. The server rolled his eyes when someone asked for green chili on the side. The medium steak was raw and my over medium eggs had raw egg white in them. The server added a 20% tip for large parties but didn't tell us about it and didn't show us the bill to pay so we accidentally tipped twice. Came in they weren't busy at all I chose the vanilla waffles they came back 20 minutes later and asked again I once again chose the waffles. 28 minutes later I finally just asked to check out and get it to go. I get home to eat them and it was French toast. Was extremely unhappy with the outcome and I still paid full price for it. I visited Ruby's Good Shoes for the first time today and absolutely loved it. I ordered the California eggs benedict, which came with perfectly seasoned smashed baby potatoes instead of traditional hash browns. Everything was fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented. The space itself is a real standout: bright and sunny thanks to its southern exposure, with a clean, unfussy design and a mid-century modern feel--polished concrete floors, warm wood, and exposed beams. There's plenty of seating, including a beautiful long communal table and a full bar. I'd originally planned to go to another great Park Hill venue, Honey Hill, to get some work done, but it was packed, so I decided to try Ruby's--and I'm so glad I did. I'm looking forward to exploring more of unusual menu items and sampling the pastries (there is a stellar croissanterie operating on site). But first, I'll be trying the advertised early-bird breakfast special--two eggs, pancakes, and choice of meat for $8--a steal at a place like this. Ruby's Good Shoes is a lovely spot, and I hope more people discover it. read more

Ginger our server was great! Coffee took to long to make no dedicated person efficiently working as a barista! The owner didn't help when others needed the help no one was buying drinks but she just was talking behind the bar oblivious to the restaurants flow of of customers around the space. This was a huge disappointment. Wanna start by saying the female bartender was fantastic and the only good thing I have to say about my visit today. She was out running food and taking great care of the bar and making the cocktails at the same time. She was super friendly and had no issues with her. The guy working behind the bar I have no idea what he is there for. Didn't say one word to us the whole time we were there. I'm guessing he has read some mixologist books and isn't a real bartender. Glorified glass polisher at the most. Feel bad for the female bartender being stuck working a Saturday morning with him. The two coffee bar drinks we ordered took forever but were delicious once they arrived. Maybe this place needs to order more mugs so they can keep up with the amount of drinks being ordered. We ordered food and waited almost 40 minutes for nothing to come out. Multiple tables around us that came in after had all received their food. Asked the male bartend to cancel are order and cash us out. He wasn't able to do that and the poor female bartender working had to come over and do it. Again this lady was working her butt off around the restaurant. Management was none existent and this over all was a really bad brunch experience. I've been to Ruby's Good Shoes twice in the past two weeks. As a resident in the neighborhood I like to support small businesses that open in the Park Hill/Central Park area. Unfortunately, I've not had the greatest experiences at this restaurant. The food has been good (I've had the Breakfast Burrito and the California Benedict) and the staff is very friendly. However, on my first visit I ordered a California Benedict and the server came back to tell me that none of the Benedicts were available that day, so instead I ordered a Breakfast Burrito. On my second visit I asked if I could have a glass of wine, and the server had to check to see if they served wine. The server came back and told me the wine "hadn't arrived yet," so I ordered a Bloody Mary instead. I was told twice by the server that my drink was on its way (my friend, in the meantime, had already finished the drink he ordered). At the end of the meal (I was able to order the California Benedict that day!) my drink still hadn't arrived, and I was asked if I'd like to order something else. Though the ambiance and food (when you can get it) is good, the service is slow, and the servers could use a crash course on the menu, including the beverages. I'd still like to give this neighborhood restaurant a another try (three strikes and they're out, however!), but I think I'll wait another month or so to go back in order to give this business a chance to work out the kinks. read more
