We had a table of five three people ordered just coffee. The server said they added a 20% tip for a large party. I usually leave at least a 20% tip....I just thought this was crazy. This was my first and last visit to this restaurant. I had never heard of it and was excited to try it so I drove 45 minutes each way to make the visit with my daughter in a wheelchair. The tables are not that accessible to begin with and rather small so we had to sit in a booth. The space is open and modern so that was a plus! The food and service was horrifying to say the least. The waiter took my drink order and it took nearly 45 minutes to get a mimosa and a latte. He didn't come back to take my food order or come ask how the experience was going. The only food item that was good was the biscuit and peach jam. The wings were not cleaned properly. The wings need to be cleaned, soaked in kosher salt, and re-rinsed before putting the seasoning on them. The eggs were not scrambled softly but fried too hard for my daughter to eat. We both love food & clean our plates but we left it on the plate at the table. I'm very disappointed in the food and service...I would've been happy if this was an upscale soup kitchen where you could pay by donation only. read more

On a whim we decided to check out this place and were SOOOO glad we did! Food and drink options are great and also somewhat limited, which I actually appreciate. Service was spectacular too. We are looking forward to returning soon for happy hour and brunch again! So glad it's close to us and don't have to drive all the way across town . They also have a pretty good patio, nicely covered by a canopy. Bet it would be great to sit out there in the evening. read more

We have come here around 10-12 times and our experience has been pretty consistent. The food is very good and the staff are very friendly without exception. Our major gripe is how long it takes to get food and drinks. No matter how busy it is, you'd better set aside 2-1/2 hours if you plan on eating in. As others have commented, you might request a pastry that you can see in the case, and by the time your server gets around to getting it, it'll be gone. The seating is comfy, the style is nice and the weekend DJ is good, if a little loud. read more

We've been to this place twice. The first time it had just opened and seemed to be badly understaffed. It took a very, very long time to get service or food. Once it arrived, the food was okay but not worth the wait. The second time we tried it, things had improved. We had a competent waiter and the food was decent but again it took a long time. I think understaffing may still be a problem or management is struggling to work out the kinks. I hope they succeed. Another pleasant breakfast and brunch venue nearby would be good for the neighborhood. read more

Had an awesome brunch here with friends from out of town. Food was excellent! Between the five of us, we tried several items and even had a highly customized request that was handled with ease. The entire staff made us feel like family and the whole experience was outstanding. The vibe is cool with the MCM decor and bright, relaxing space. There was even a dj playing by the time we were leaving. Prices were more than reasonable: green juices are half the price of any juice bar and the full espresso bar is more reasonable than most cafes. 100% recommend even though I'd like to keep it a secret so it doesn't get too crowded or develop long waits. read more

Okay the first thing you need to know is the pastries are separate. I believe you could order them to the table, but technically it's a separate thing. You most likely want to order these ahead and pick them up. They are delicious and they are why I'm giving it a four star instead of a three star for the business as a whole. As far as Ruby's good shoes, the concept of the restaurant and the menu are wonderful. The kitchen was clearly overwhelmed as the burrito ordered was missing one of the three ingredients that's supposed to come inside and their "green chili" was actually quite red because of so many tomatoes. If a burrito is to have egg meat and potatoes, you'd think it would have potatoes however the two burritos ordered were both missing them at our table and the table directly next to us. The mushroom chicken and waffles is probably quite good if you order comes out right when it's finished and it doesn't sit the mushrooms in my meal had soaked in every ounce of oil and were quite tough to eat. The breading was good. The concept is amazing. The waffle I ordered was the vanilla waffle and it was also probably quite good. Had it been warm however it cooled by the time I received it and it was OK at best. They also forgot to bring the butter and syrup so I had to wait on that making it be even colder. I'm sure than it had been. The restaurant does not seem to be equipped to handle that many people as the seat seating as arranged quite strangely there was a 14 top at the time we were there, and we had gotten our drinks and food food before they did which would have made me think it would've come out warm however it did not . There were many things it seemed that we heard people order that were not on the menu or weren't going to be available for another week or so so that would've been nice to know going in. I'd say maybe order this to take home if you're close, definitely get the pastries and maybe we'll give this one another shot. read more

Despite having a reservation, there was a long line out the door when we arrived. There didn't appear to be a clear system in place-- the hostess was managing seating with what looked like a handwritten notebook, which added to the confusion. When we were finally seated, we were taken to a large communal table in the middle of the floor. Communal seating was not what I had in mind for a Saturday brunch date. The chairs were extremely close together, making private conversation nearly impossible. Ultimately, we decided to leave because it felt too close for comfort. This establishment should clearly advertise its seating arrangements, as communal seating is not appealing or suitable for all guests. read more

Extremely cute space in a neighborhood. Spacious outdoor seating and a beautiful indoor space. I had the American breakfast for $14 and a black coffee for $3.99 . I think that is too much for a black coffee. The meal with Italian Sausage and scrambled eggs came with potatoes that were grilled a yummy.. We were a party of two, sat on the patio and waited more than an hour for our food while the owner consistently berated the staff. Our breakfast dishes were quite good, but given the horrendous attitude of the the owner -- and her absolute despicable behavior toward our server -- who was lovely, I will never return. While we were there, at least one server walked out, and out server threatened to do the same. I don't blame them; the owner is truly cruel. read more

I came here for brunch on Saturday and from beginning to end it was just a complete disorganized mess. While some team members like the hostess and new bartender were caring and kind, the rest of the staff did not impress me. It took 20 mins to place my order and another 30 mins to get our drinks. When I asked if they could check on my coffee the other server couldn't find my order. Additionally, when I was brought my coffee it was made with regular milk too instead of dairy free for my disclosed allergy. I'm very lucky I asked to triple check before tasting it. This is so concerning for people with more severe allergies - please do not trust this place to be safe for you. At the time we arrived there were limited croissants so I was sure to order one to go right away, but they did not put one aside for us and when the check came they were all out. This was disappointing yet unsurprising given the lack of organization in the entire restaurant. When we received our chicken and waffles - both my boyfriends and my chicken wings looked breaded so completely differently. I could see there was someone expediting the food but clearly they did not have consistency or quality control standards. The food was overall good, not extraordinary, flavor wise but the service convinced me I'd never go back. And to top it off, we never received our side of potatoes and the server didn't apologize for that or for the croissant. He also did not offer any solutions or to comp any part of our meal to try and redeem the lackluster experience. When we went to leave the bathrooms were out of soap (typical) and I overheard another table complain for waiting over an hour to receive their food. Additionally, another server followed us out and asked us to close out as if we were dining and dashing. This server was not our main server so I don't understand why she thought that was appropriate as we had closed our tab 10 mins prior and paid. I expect so much more for this business and there needs to be serious improvements. The owners and managers do not care about the service industry standard and I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Your customers deserve better, the community deserves so much better. read more

Excellent food! I loved the vegan options. The vegan sausage is amazing and the biscuits incredibly yummy. And the fresh made blueberry jam was a wonderful complement to the biscuits. I ate a few spoonfuls all by itself. The owner was wonderful. The staff very friendly and attentive. I also enjoyed the rich flavor of my latte before my meal came. No complaints at all. And to top it off the brought out a cinnamon roll with a candle to acknowledge and celebrate the matriarch of my family's 97th birthday. Just a wonderful experience! Prepare for at least 3 hours all in. Good food but genuinely one of the most poorly managed restaurants ever... so much that it made the food almost not worth it. Even with a reservation you will be waiting 30+ minutes to sit plus another hour to get your food (quite literally, we timed 58 minutes). They're likely understaffed and undertrained. To top it off our server didn't speak English well enough to understand our order. However, the staff, even while dealing with extremely frustrated customers, were overall nice and seemed to be trying their best. Unless management trains the staff a bit better on the logistics and hire more cooks/waiters instead of a live DJ, not worth the visit. read more

Went with some friends for brunch today. The food was pretty good. Everything was tasty and the potatoes were excellent! The gluten free waffle was delicious and had good consistency. The staff was very friendly BUT the service was absolutely terrible. It was not busy and still took us 20 minutes to get our drinks (I didn't even get a water after asking 3 times) and the food took another 30-45 minutes. The waitress we had checked on us a total of 3 times and didn't come check on us when we got our food and had to be told my the manager we were ready to check out. The entire visit took about 2 hours between waiting on food and drinks. Granted, our waitress did say she was new and I do think she was trying her best. Overall, I know they are a new business in the community and I would love to give them another chance when they're more established. read more
