We stopped by here on the way back from a trip to San Raphael. The lady found out that they were open for business so we decided to make a detour the Solano part of Berkley. These guys had a wonderful shop with lots of natural light and very clean. They also had wonderful rugs hung around that were so but beautiful but obviously pricey. When we came in, we were helped out immediately and they laid out a bunch of rugs that were within the color scheme and size that we were looking for. We had been to Istanbul so we were a bit familiar with the whole carpet buying process. We are so happy with our new carpet and it fits nicely into our living room space. We've had it for more than 2 days now and we just stop and stare at this wonderful piece that we received. The younger guy brought out the carpet to the car and was nothing but super nice. If you're interested in great rugs and and even better service, then come check these guys out!

We had a wonderful experience viewing the rugs at this shop (which feels like an art gallery). They really look striking in person -- photographs do not do them justice. After choosing a few rugs we were interested in, we got to see them all together laid out in the expansive showroom. We were served tea and got to spend a lot of time with the rugs, studying them from different angles, sitting on them, etc. We're extremely happy with our choice. If you are looking for a very special rug then this is a great place to go.

Suzanne at Ruby rugs did a great job of helping us find a modern rug we liked. She brought the rugs to our home and helped us with her design sense. The quality and variety of their rugs were outstanding, and their customer service was great. We would definitely buy another rug from Ruby Rugs.

The rug we picked for our living room. It's hard to do it justice in a photo.

What a great place! When we first walked in, the entire store feels like an art gallery displaying the finest of rugs. The lighting is beautiful and calls out the best of the rugs on displa The owner and sales associates are very knowledgeable and are happy to share how the rug supply chain works (most wholesale deals are made in Germany). We came twice and finally settled on probably 10 rugs to try for our living room. The owner is also an interior designer. When he walked into our living room, he immediate picked up the rug we would end up deciding on. The entire process felt genuine and honest: we didn't end up with the most expensive rug, but rather the one that fit the best. It's not a cheap place by any stretch, but you clearly get what you pay for: an amazing rug!

This our beautiful new rug!

We got a great rug at Ruby! Great quality, beautiful rugs. Super helpful sales people willing to go through about 100 rugs with us. They took our four favorites down to our house so we could see them in our space and even moved the furniture around so we could see what it would look like.

We were told by our good friend to see Ruby Rugs before deciding on anything elsewhere. We are so glad we did! The rug is absolutely beautiful and perfect for my office. But most important, and most impressive was the care, patience, above-and-beyond customer service we experienced with Abi and his assistant. They took their time to show us all the rug options, laying our favorites out on a spacious and well-lit floor, and coming immediately to my office in San Francisco to let us see the rug in place before our final decision. Once we decided, the care continued with their careful measure and fitting of the under-mat (included in the price), exact placement on the floor, and a final hand-smoothing of the rug so that it placed perfectly and beautifully. All of this was done with genuine warmth and kindness. Thank you so much. It was a pleasure to do business with both of you and we are happy to spread the word! Audrey

And--we can confidently say, now that we've had our first for almost two years--these rugs are also very durable! They hide dirt amazingly well, disguise spills, and so far we don't see any wear on our first rug despite it being in a high traffic area. I'm sure these rugs will show their age over time, but that will only add to their appeal. We also love the rug pads Noor and Sons use. They have just the right amount of give underfoot and do not slide at all on our wood, and now linoleum, floors. The custom cut rug pads alone lend so much value to shopping with Noor and Sons. The quality of the first rug has made us confident to go for a second, this time for the kitchen. We tried out nine different rugs at home in a variety of sizes and colors. Noor helped us pick out the rug we ultimately choose and kept us within budget. The rug lends a lot of warmth to our otherwise no-frills apartment kitchen. The size is also super versatile and we think it will look great wherever we move next.

We've had a great experience with Access Rugs! We were introduced at the Alameda Antiques Fair…read morewhere we met the owner Ata who helped us find the perfect 8x10 rug for our bedroom. It is a beautiful design and quality and really brings the room together. We reached back out for Access Rug's cleaning services after we purchased a vintage Heriz rug from Facebook Marketplace and realized it smelled like wet dog after getting it home. They explained the whole rug cleaning process to us and how he would ensure the 40 year old rug was preserved through the process. He came and picked it up and was very communicative throughout the process. The rug took a few extra days to dry than expected, and Ata was so apologetic and even offered to bring us a loaner rug because we had family coming into town!! Totally above and beyond! He then came and dropped the rug back off and it looks and smells fantastic. We trust Access Rugs for any of our rug needs in the future.

They also helped to move furniture for pick up and return. The rugs were well cleaned, and the fringe on some of the rugs was not damaged. Some business people are only "nice" until they grow their business, and then you no longer matter. My gut tells me that is not the case here. They will get my business again.

I contacted Mohammad because I had three Oriental rugs that badly needed cleaning, and one of them…read morewas damaged by moths. Mohammad was very easy to work with and did a wonderful job. The Persian rug, which is the highest-quality rug, came out really beautiful and looks brand new. So did my larger Afghani tribal rug. The rug with the moth damage was the lowest quality of the three and the oldest of the three. It is also an Afghani tribal rug. Mohammad offered me choices and did not pressure me to spend a lot of money on having it re-woven; I would have spent a lot more than the rug was worth. Even though that rug is not super high quality, I have always liked the colors and the pattern, and he was able to patch it at a reasonable cost, and I put the damaged area under some furniture so it doesn't show. The patches are strong and will protect the rug from further damage in that area. Mohammad also gave me a good explanation of how to care for these rugs. Following that advice years ago would likely have protected the smaller Afghani tribal rug from damage, and I will definitely have the rugs washed and cleaned more often in the future. I found Mohammad to be knowledgeable and fair, easy to work with, and to provide a great service. He has a deep knowledge and appreciation of Oriental rugs and he seems to genuinely care about being fair to the customer as well as about doing a good job.

Absolutely fell in love with this place! Just recently…read morepurchased our first home and it's wooden floors throughout, so wanted to bring a bit of soul to the living room and decided on a rug. Husband and I went looking for one and visited quite a few different places but this place stood out. The selection is vast in colours and sizes and the seller was a true gentleman. We had no idea there was so much to consider when choosing a rug and he was patient and gave us lots of information. He showed us different styles/patterns until we narrowed down to ones that matched our personalities. He asked and listened to our answers regarding what style of room we wanted to create and our personal style and tastes. (We wanted deep rich reds/Victorian) and didn't waste time showing us rugs that didn't fit who we are. We wasn't pressured nor made to feel like idiots for not knowing anything about rugs. We left with his words in mind and looked again at our living room space. Two days later we went back and knew exactly what we wanted. The gentleman was so welcoming and we got straight to it. We are now the proud owners of a hand woven wool Pakistani Bokhara pattern rug (thank you for sharing your knowledge as I had no idea!) prices are reasonable depending on what you want, the size and the make but he will guide you through it all. Thank you for your services, you have helped us make a house a home. We shall return when we come to decorate the dining room, bedrooms etc....!

The name "Claremont Rug Company" almost seems a misnomer; in fact what they are selling are art…read moreworks for the floor. A visit to their beautiful gallery in north Oakland is like being in a bazaar in ancient Persia. This is one of the premier sources for true antique Persian rugs in the U.S. and we are fortunate to have them in the Bay Area. It is important to emphasize that this is not the place to go for the kind of new Persian-design rugs which can be found in most rug stores. With the current international sanctions on imports from Iran, these new rugs are woven in Pakistan, India or China, can be of reasonable quality and relatively inexpensive and may be all you need. But if you are interested in the real thing - antique hand knotted Persian rugs (at least 80 years old) with stunning natural vegetable dye colors in excellent condition - Claremont Rug Company is the place to go. The experience of visiting their gallery is unlike a visit to a typical rug showroom where a salesman will pull back a corner of each rug in a large pile of rugs in the approximate size range you are looking for. At Claremont Rug Company you are strongly advised to make an appointment so that you have the gallery to yourself. You most likely will be greeted by Jan David Winitz, the very personable owner. He is a longtime collector and extremely knowledgeable on all types of Persian rugs. After determining the correct size, Mr. Winitz will use his uncanny color sense to pick out rugs to show from his vast inventory. With his crew, Mr. Winitz lays out each rug so that you can view it in the whole from all sides. In this way my wife and I found three good prospects for each of the rooms where we needed rugs. We left the gallery with excellent pictures and descriptions of each of the rugs. There was absolutely no high-pressure salesmanship whatsoever. After a few days, when we determined that we wanted to take the next step, we called to make an appointment to have the rugs shown in our home. Mr. Winitz and his crew then came to our home and patiently laid out each prospective rug in its intended place. After we had chosen the rugs we wanted to purchase, they were taken away for cleaning and minor repairs and then returned and installed complete with padding. Claremont Rug Company obviously represents the very top of the rug market. These fine old rugs are not inexpensive, but we felt the prices for the rugs we purchased were reasonable given their extremely high quality and excellent condition and that we therefore absolutely got high value for the amount we paid. In addition, the whole selection and purchasing experience was very pleasant and satisfying, which is not always the case in buying rugs. If you are in the market for the very best ancient Persian rugs, we would highly recommend Claremont Rug Company. Even if you are not currently in the market, but just like the look of these beautiful works of art, you should get their brochures or catalog. Christine Winitz, Jan's wife and a collector herself, puts these together and they are true works of art on their own.
