I'm in love with this rug store. It's beautiful, feels like an art galaxy. The owner Abi and staff are super helpful and really have a key eye for design. I thought I'd like the traditional rugs, but ended up falling in love with this modern art rug (in my photo). The quality and skill it takes to make these rugs are exceptional. I need to win the husband lotto so I can buy a rug for every room in my house. We stopped by here on the way back from a trip to San Raphael. The lady found out that they were open for business so we decided to make a detour the Solano part of Berkley. These guys had a wonderful shop with lots of natural light and very clean. They also had wonderful rugs hung around that were so but beautiful but obviously pricey. When we came in, we were helped out immediately and they laid out a bunch of rugs that were within the color scheme and size that we were looking for. We had been to Istanbul so we were a bit familiar with the whole carpet buying process. We are so happy with our new carpet and it fits nicely into our living room space. We've had it for more than 2 days now and we just stop and stare at this wonderful piece that we received. The younger guy brought out the carpet to the car and was nothing but super nice. After choosing a few rugs we were interested in, we got to see them all together laid out in the expansive showroom. We just had a great experience buying some rugs!!! Can you believe it! No sleazy, smelly, non understandable rug sales person that bullshit you all the way to the bank. Instead when we arrived at Ruby's Rugs we got offered coffee, tea or water, and all the the help we got was so genuine without pressure! From start to finish, our experience at Ruby Rugs was fantastic. Since the store opened on Solano Avenue a year or so ago, we have often stopped to look through the glass to admire the incredible selection of high quality rugs on exhibit in the beautiful display space. When we finally got serious, and actually entered the store, we were even more impressed at the quality of the materials and the workmanship in their carpets, and at the wide selection of both traditional and modern designs. The 100% silk carpets were particularly stunning. Although we made no commitment to purchase anything, Abi, the owner, offered to bring a selection of rugs to our home so we could see how they would work in different rooms. The results of this visit surprised us and we were able to find three rugs that completely transformed the rooms we placed them in. We expected to focus on traditional patterns, but wound up with a gorgeous modern design for our bedroom, and an amazing traditional carpet for the more formal area of the house. We really enjoyed the interactions with Abi and Zerevan throughout our discussions with them, and benefitted from their knowledge and design skills as we made our selections. From the moment we stepped inside the gorgeous gallery, Abi was friendly, approachable, knowledgeable, warm and extremely helpful. He patiently went through a beautiful mound of top quality wool and silk rugs, letting us take our time in choosing. And when we couldn't decide between so many rich options, he offered to bring several of them over (that very day), to see how they looked in our space. Today was a big day for me. I bought a rug for much more than I had anticipated. But I realized that to get the quality I wanted, including design, materials, and color, I would have to pay for it. My experience at Ruby Rugs made this process easy. Suzanne and her assistant helped me figure out what I wanted in my new price range. They personally flipped the large rugs over one by one in the large pile, so I could see them. They let me take my time. When I had picked about seven, Suzanne sent them to me, so I could study them on their site. Later, I asked for her to give me prices on about seven others. When I had confirmed my picks, Suzanne and two helpers came to my house the next day at no charge and put them down on my floor one by one. They were enthusiastic and helpful throughout, even patient with my fussiness over squaring up the rug and placing the furniture at the exact right angle. I recently purchased a new beautiful rug from Abi at the newly opened Ruby Rugs. They have a beautiful selection of rugs and the customer service was unprecedented. While it is easy to select a rug in a large shop that you like, you never know how it will look in your room with your furniture until you put it there. I had about 6 favorites, and Abi selected a couple more, then he brought them all to my home to look at- no strings attached. We moved the furniture and tried out each rug. Some of my favorites did not look as good in the room as I had hoped, and the one I picked looked fantastic. This was an excellent service to have when you are paying so much for a quality rug. I recently was shopping for new rugs, I did an extensive search of all the greater Bay Area and on line . I found the most variety and the most exquisite rugs at Ruby Rugs on Solano Ave in Berkeley. This store makes you feel like you are in an art gallery . Abi the owner and his assistant were extremely helpful and friendly. They flipped a million tugs for me and never acted like I was wasting their time .I picked a large variety of rugs and then Abi insisted that he bring the rugs to my house so that I could really see how they worked with the furniture etc in my home , this really was a helpful tool . Again Abi and his assistant could not have been more pleasant and helpful plus with a good eye for design. I bought two rugs from them , they are both beautiful and unique. I couldn't recommend Ruby Rugs any higher , it's a lovely store with a beautiful variety of merchandise and the service was impeccable. I will definitely go there again when rug shopping .
