SUPER good food!! A rare find in La habra with great service! The interior design is just incredible

I had no idea that inside Ruby Red's is like going on a vacation and being on a ship. The windows outside make the place look closed but inside is so nice. Each booth has a beautiful water view in the "window." The service was amazing and made our brunch enjoyable. The breakfast menu is large. I had the pulled pork Benedict. The meat had just enough sauce and it was on a round, thick toasted bread that looked like a muffin. We also got 3 different pancakes: blueberry compote (it was yummy but the blue food coloring in the fruit cream was a bit too blue), lemon with coconut (my fav) and banana foster. I would have preferred more natural cream with no artificial coloring as they tasted really good. My friend ordered the pastrami with over easy eggs. It was pretty meaty and good too. Will definitely be back to try the bbq ribs and other menu items.

Was here on Mother's Day. This restaurant has a western vibe-from the windows down to the ceilings all have a southern glam to it. Service is very warm and friendly. We got the Banana Foster Pancakes, which were fluffy and had a nice banana flavor. Next, was the assorted meats and brisket loaded fries. The meat was tender and had the right amount of seasoning, and the hot links had a nice snap to it. I recommend getting the cream of corn. The portions were nice and big. Overall, food was great!

Second time here, from decor to the meat is fire . Service is good too. Both times there was a full house but no wait. So I can't truly call it a hidden gem even though it seems like it. Definitely a good place for a date or bday celebration. Need I say I'll be back?

Food was really good! Portions were very generous. The place is so cute and nice. Very roadhouse like. To finish off the cookies were baked to order and warm. Amazing, servers were nice and friendly too.

Great BBQ spot right in our backyard!!! Owner of the restaurant helped us out. It was surprisingly busy for a Thursday afternoon. We ordered the following: Shared a 2 meat combo with the Mrs. We opted for double Brisket sides of Mac & Cheese and a potato salad. $46.99. Ian wanted Brisket so he got himself a Texan Sandwich with Waffle Fries as his side. $23.99. Brisket was delicious! It was soo juicy, tender and melt in our mouth!! (+1) Ian devoured his Brisket sandwich. He was a teenager on a mission. Haha. (+1) Peach cobbler was decadent. Mrs. and I loved the fresh fruit in the dish! (+1) Mac & Cheese tastes home made and hearty. Potato Salad was light and savory. Price might appear a tad bit high BUT the portion, flavor and taste make it worth it! All and all it was a great lunch! We will be back. You guys should definitely try this restaurant out.

Tonight my wife and I celebrated our birthdays together at our favorite BBQ place. It was a wonderful night. Kevin always greets us with a friendly smile. We were seated in the Mahogany table. Britian was our server. She was incredible. She really took care of us and had such a sweet spirit about her. The food as always is cook to perfection and the presentation is conversation stopping. Thank you Steve, Kevin, especially Britian for making our birthdays that much more extraordinary and the entire Ruby Red's BBQ family. It truly is our home away from home.

This review is for breakfast only. We got a postcard from this restaurant we have never tried offering BOGO for breakfast which is my favorite meal. So we had to go. The interior is like a West World saloon. The breakfast choices were many for such a small place. You could see inside the kitchen a little and based how organized and spotless it is, couple with the ambitious menu items like Benedicts, predesigned omelets, and beignets, I knew we were in for a treat. I ordered the biscuits and gravy, fried green tomatoes, bacon and eggs plate. I had to as it was the only dish on the menu that featured southern gravy. When it came out I got really excited. The scrambled eggs and bacon looked standard. The tomatoes were perfectly golden brown and looked thick like crab cakes. The B&G platter was enormous - just the way I like it. The biscuits were completely covered with spotty chunky gravy. I believe it was smoked ham in a gravy that is housemade with sausage base. The biscuits underneath were the pan style cake-like biscuits and not the flaky buttermilk kind, but they were very good. The eggs were uniformly yellow and soft scrambled. The bacon was fully rendered but not crisp. Many people like their scrambled eggs soft and their bacon chewy, so no problem here. Just note to order "well done" for both next time if that's what you like. My dining partner ordered the brisket breakfast with pancake. Again, multiple plates - enough for two people - came out. The eggs were perfectly medium. The potatoes were expertly cubed, deep fried, then roasted with onions and two colors of bell peppers. Someone forgot to season them but after I salted them, they were perfect. The mound of brisket was impressive - at least half a pound of gorgeous beef with two bbq sauces on the side. The brisket tasted of smoke right away - I like beef forward then smoke aftertaste but I've been to Texas a lot. This is still very good and 10/10 for Orange County. The pancake brought back memories of the bran muffin from Claim Jumper. I could taste the buckwheat, or is it molasses, in the pancake? Whipped butter and maple syrup on the side in its own dishes instead of a sticky dispenser. Nice touch. The cooks, our server and the proprietor of this beautiful restaurant make me glad they sent that postcard. I will be back soon for sure. The leftovers we took home made two more meals so I would say even the pricing is right.

We had a group of 10 for our belated "holiday" dinner celebration at Ruby Red recently. Food was great, we ordered the "feast" and the accompanying sides. Our server Amanda was great and very helpful! The protein portion of our meal was very generous but "made from scratch" sides were much smaller for the amount of people at our table. One of our friends had been to Ruby Red several times and recommended this place to our group. I loved the salon ambiance there and thought it was befitting to the Ghost Town area of Knott's Berry Farm. Overall it was a satisfying visit. Looking for to my next visit here!

I had seen this restaurant before from the outside, but had never tried it. From the outside, you have no idea how different it looks inside! I would describe visiting this restaurant as an amazing immersive experience! The moment you step inside you are no longer in south cal! They have plenty of parking nearby and have their host(ess) right at the entrance. They have 2 main seating areas and a bar top. These areas have booths which include screens displaying sceneries or stand alone tables. Even the restrooms are on theme! The tables are super unique and some have a plaque which shows the type of wood it was made out of. They offer brunch and dinner menus. We have only tried their menu, but brunch looks interesting. The staff were super helpful on both occasions that we have visited and service was great. On our first visit we went for a combo with 3 meats and 2 sides. We LOVED everything we tried! We had brisket, sausage links and ribs. When you get the combo, you get the different sauces which are all very unique on their own way. My favourite was the hot one. For the sides, the chilli was amazing with brisket in it! The potato salad was very refreshing. We added the cornbread which was really good as dessert. Overall it was such a great first experience that we had to be back! We came back for a small meal so we decided to share the brisket French fries and they were AMAZING! We did ask for an extra sauce as we felt like we wanted more. Because we had shared that, I had room for dessert and ordered the beignets. They were big and tasty. This restaurant also has frequent customer club so don't forget to sign up and earn points for your visit! They also have a senior menu for brunch which is really reasonably priced. Keep in mind they do not open Monday and Tuesday. I can't wait to be back and try other stuff!

First time here. The food was very good my favorite was the larger rib & sweet butter! Brisket salad was perfect. The service was great very attentive & fast. The decor was so old school cowboy. Perfect for a messy cute rib date. Definitely recommend! . The only thing is NO cocktails .

This restaurant transports you visually to an old saloon in Texas. Great decor and terrific service. The food was outstanding especially the brisket and rib (both pork and beef). What an amazing experience. Highly recommend and would come back multiple times.

Great presentation and adorable interior decor. Prices feel a little high, and I wish there were more options beyond the sandwiches for meals; a menu more like Lucille's would be appreciated. This is La Habra best kept secret. We love the decor, the service, and great food. We've been here for lunch, dinner and recently discovered they serve breakfast. We have made this our new breakfast spot after we drop off the kids at school. This is the perfect spot to get breakfast then head out to Sprouts and Trader Joe's for the week. Definitely recommend the food and ambience. read more

The place had a cool country aesthetic. Our server was friendly and provided good service. I ordered the Sweet Pig, and I'd say that was some of the best pulled pork I've had in a while! I put their Spicy Red sauce on top of it which made it even better! Had waffle fries on the side, and with my only reference being Chick-Fil-A's waffle fries, I thought the ones I had at Ruby Red's were better . Finished the meal with delicious peach cobbler . Shop in area seen the restaurant and took a look at reviews and i wasn't impressed, but OMG this place has good food great atmosphere and people serving you. I'm so impressed with it and glad we decided to try it out. The decor is western but so nicely done. The BBQ brisket sliders and waffle fries are delicious and I also had a little taste of the potato salad. The serving of meat is an abundance. I'm telling you this is a great casual place with good food. You must try at least once and decide for yourself. read more

I ordered the ribs which they only have on Fridays and Saturdays, and they were already out on a Friday evening. There were only 6 tables with customers and 4 wait staff. It took almost an hour to get our food. We were a party of three but they only brought 2 plates out and asked us if we were missing something. They forgot the third entree, the sauces, one of the side dishes was on a different plate. They had to ask what the order was and which sauces we ordered. By the time the sauces came out, I was pretty much done with my food. The refills took so long they forgot what they were refilling. The booth next to us seemed to have similar problems since the waitress was asking questions and apologizing. You could see the frustration on everyone's faces waiting for their food. The hostess was correcting the waitresses bc of all the mistakes but basically just stood at the podium most of the time on her phone. The only time something came quickly was when they brought the check and she hovered over me trying to see how much of a tip she would get. The food was okay but on the salty side. Definitely NOT worth the wait. Just go to Smoke and Fire BBQ on Whittier Blvd if you want to avoid a frustrating experience. At least they remember what you order and you get your food on time. read more

Pleasant casual sit down restaurant. Two adults and a young teen girl, shared The Platter (for 2) and there was plenty of food for all, especially meat. Started with Pig Candy, which was flavorful, but could have been a little crispier. Sat evening, moderately busy, but no wait. Had a fantastic meal! Our server Kevin was quick, efficient and informative. He was on top of it and we had the best experience. You NEED to try the smoked chicken breast with Alabama sauce! It's amazing! Salt potatoes and corn bread rounded out our meal. Please do not forget to try the beignets as a sweet treat to complete your meal. Comes with choice of dipping sauce. If u could give this establishment a zero I will but unfortunately I can't bad customer service came in on my break Wich is 1 hour long before placing the order I ask how long they said about 10 minutes it wasn't 10 it was more that 40 minutes still didn't get my food had to get to work I was mad n hungry what a waist of time waiting for my food mind u I try to talk to a manager they said there isn't one in the restaurant I never knew a restaurant can be run with out a manager in duty poor service will never be back again read more

Walked in to place an order to go, 35 minutes later our order was ready, decided to check order once outside, missing chicken salad sandwich! Went back into restaurant and it took only 3 minutes to get it but why did it take so long the first time? Yes there were other items, 2 sliders with prepared meat & brisket fries The taste of the food was really the problem! The chicken salad sandwich was just shredded chicken with no seasonings, no mayo just a sliver of tomato and wilted lettuce! The Rueben slider was one piece of meat. The brisket beans were overheated and tasted like they sat in the pot all day! This was our third attempt at giving this restaurant a chance... Never again! We are sticking with Smoke and Fire on Whittier Blvd! 100% better! read more

Ruby Red's BBQ left a truly sour taste in our mouths tonight. We arrived around 7 PM and were told the wait would be approximately 20 minutes. Fast forward to 7:38 PM, and another group was informed they were next in line, with the excuse that the kitchen was backed up and they didn't want to seat people without food ready. The fact that numerous patrons were standing around suggests their preference was for us to stand for an hour rather than offer even a semblance of hospitality by seating us and perhaps offering a drink. To add insult to injury, our group was completely ignored during this explanation to the other party. That other group was finally seated around 7:48 PM, and we were supposedly next. Then, at a staggering 7:55 PM - after a full 55 minutes of waiting - an employee emerged to inform us that they only had one rack of ribs left and no other meat options. My husband understandably exclaimed, "We've been waiting for 50 minutes?!" to which the employee simply replied, "Yeah, sorry guys." The handling of this situation was abysmal. Basic hospitality dictates that when a significant error like this occurs, an establishment should attempt to rectify it. A simple "We sincerely apologize for the extended wait and our kitchen issues; please accept a complimentary appetizer/drink/future discount" would have gone a long way. Instead, we were met with a dismissive "sorry." Furthermore, the lack of inventory awareness is baffling. How does a BBQ restaurant not know the quantity of their main offerings? Knowing they were running low on food, especially after experiencing kitchen delays, should have prompted them to inform waiting customers much earlier. This would have saved everyone valuable time and prevented the immense frustration we experienced. Based solely on this shocking lack of service and basic operational awareness, I cannot recommend Ruby Red's BBQ. There are plenty of other establishments in the area that understand the importance of customer service and efficient management. Save yourself the wasted time and disappointment. read more

wow, it is hard to describe the magnificence of Ruby Red's bbq. i came in tonight with my family and we were visiting from Arizona and for a friday night I cannot believe the place was not slam packed with a line out the door. RUN AND TRY IT!!!! my family ordered some of the bbq sandwiches which were huge! only sad thing was, they don't come with a side, but sometimes I can be cheap haha. everything else was amazing!!! decor is beautiful! Gwen was our server, and she is the best of the best. Seriously, I have never met any server who has been as kind and thoughtful as Gwen. She made the experience top notch and my kids LOVED her. she is EXCELLENT. She was super funny and sweet, and we never had to call for her because she was so attentive. My husband and I were shocked when we asked if she was the manager and she said no and we asked if her parents owned the place and she said no but some friends from church did. what an awesome establishment and a great young woman. I was able to go to a soft opening. Wow, this place is AMAZING! The brisket was tender and juicy, and the ribs were just the right amount of pull-off-the-bone delicious. The sides we tried were wonderful -- the cornbread had an excellent consistency, especially paired with the maple butter. The macaroni salad had enough little veggies in it to keep it interesting, and the cole slaw was actually better than anything the Colonel ever dreamt of. Even the desserts were delicious. Came in Friday for breakfast and I'm SO glad I did. The food was excellent. My server was Gwen and she was awesome. Her recommendations were fantastic!! She deserves a raise, her service was astounding. No trouble whatsoever with our table. I had the Biscoff butter French toast and the biscuits and gravy and I haven't been the same since. I don't get how this place can get anything less than five star reviews, this place is AWESOME. Seriously amazing quality food, and even better service. Can't say enough good things about Ruby Red's or our amazing server!! Great food and great people. Give it a try!!! read more

We had the absolute pleasure of being served by Kevin during our visit, and he made our dining experience truly exceptional! From the moment we sat down, Kevin greeted us with a warm smile and an energy that was both welcoming and attentive. His recommendations were spot-on--he clearly knows the menu inside and out. He took the time to answer our questions, made sure our drinks were always full, and checked in on us just the right amount without being intrusive. It's rare to find a server who balances professionalism and friendliness so effortlessly, but Kevin nailed it! Definitely coming back! read more
