After trying to kick off our anniversary weekend at a supper club down the road we ended up here. Thank goodness! We waited for over an hour at the original restaurant & ended up leaving. Hangry & irritated I yelped other local restaurants. Long & behold was Ruby Owl, a quick 6 minute walk from the original restaurant. As soon as we walked in we were welcomed & able to seat ourselves. A waitress came over within minutes of us sitting down. Right away we ordered food, thinking it would take forever. It did not. Our cheese curds came out right away & were delicious!!!! The rest of our food came out a little while longer. Amazing! I order the pig & fig while my husband ordered the butter burger. Highly recommend both. The only place we found to eat around 9pm. Wasn't busy, and had to sit at the bar, but the bartender was very nice and attentive even though we had non-alcoholic beverages. We had a couple of burgers... the butter burger was okay (a bit dry), but the candied bacon chutney burger was very tasty and more moist. The fries were hand-made and really good. read more

We came here another times and had more drinks and food. The fruit flies were flying around last time too. It's getting cold outside guys. This is something I can understand once in a while. But not everything. It's not a sign of fruit, it's a sign of filth. We had drinks as seen in my photos, but came here before with friends to eat. This business is affiliated somehow with Gardinas down the street. And I live then and have a very different experience there vs here. When we are here the only thing I remembered liking was the avacido fries. I would come back for those. This place seems to be managed poorly, the wait staff are not very friendly and the bar tenders will chat with their friends and do shots with them before taking your order. This place is great. The staff is warm and friendly. The service is fast and always dependable. The Brisket Burger is completely legit. They take so much pride in their food, you can tell the chef/owner really cares about food. All their sauces are homemade including really legit Ranch dressing. Would recommend. read more

I want to eat everything here! Wow, the menu is amazing and everything smells and looks like I need 4 stomachs. I loved the candied bacon burger. What a great taste the candied bacon makes on the burger. I hadn't had bacon like that on a burger. They made the burger exactly to taste and it was juicy and big. My friends also had great looking food (one being a salad and also another candied bacon burger.) The beer selection is out of this world. So many local brews and they also have an extensive cocktail list and wine list. You really can't go wrong here! read more

Nice sports bar with some really decent eats. Low expectations owing to being in Oshkosh but was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the grilled cheese, fries and bar fare. I love the cauliflower but the last time the server served the sauce on the side versus tossing the vegetable. And he argued with me and my friend and refused to bring a replacement. The good news is that I asked for a manager who came and was profusely apologetic and comped our entire meal. Hopefully the server was just having a bad day. I do like Ruby Owl but it tends to be a little noisy so I only go when there are likely to be fewer people. It has some really good salads and their cheese curds are outstanding. read more

Such a great find! We didn't sample any beers, however, the food was delicious - I couldn't decide on a salad so our server recommended the Buddha Bowl and I was not disappointed. I'll keep it simple- unimpressive food served by staff that frequents the table every 1/2 hour (we were there 2 hours waiting for a burger and sandwich so we can attest to this). Yes, there was adequate staff and empty tables. If you enjoy paying $4 extra for a side of cheese curds with your meal and receiving said meal 1.5 hours after ordering only to find 4 lukewarm cheese curds in your basket- this spot has your name on it. Been here multiple times. The ambience is chill and friendly, TVs for sports, high top tables for groups & a nice bar top. A great selection of bourbons and whiskeys, a lot of beer selections. The food is fantastic, several vegan and gluten-free options. Only negative feedback is that I would cook the butternut squash a little more for the salad, otherwise the flavor was delicious. The Texas chili is fantastic!! Avocado fries are interesting (in a good way), a very large portion for an appetizer. SO GOOD, From appetizers to the main meal it's always fresh and delicious. The cheese curds and avocado fries are amazing I don't even know what else to say. I get the veggie burger and it's always so good. Being vegetarian I always appreciate restaurants making their veggie burgers from scratch and making somthing more unique instead of a frozen patty. Spent a night out in downtown Oshkosh and Ruby Owl has been on my to do list because the reviews I read and all of the beer taps. They have a great tap beer selection. Even though it's not the best beer, I got a Grain Belt because you don't see that on tap very often around our area. It was late on a Friday night, and my friends came for just drinks, so I can't comment on the food. This feels like a "ritzier" spot for Oshkosh as there was dim lighting, very chill atmosphere as everyone was to themselves and wasn't overly loud. Seems like a good date night spot, or an occasion to get dressed up and be with friends. Definitely not a spot where college students would hang out, and at my old age of 32 that's totally cool with me. read more

Oooh, mistake. As you know from my other reviews, my husband and I have a little game to see who can pick the best restaurant based on Yelp reviews. Tonight is minus 1 point for me. I was drawn in by the Vs on the menu indicating vegetarian options. We stopped in at a nearby place first and both the menu and the place looked nice. Unfortunately, sometimes when I've made my mind up it can be hard to change. I knew that this place is a "gastropub", not nearly as refined as the place across the street. However, I wasn't prepared for this kind of dirtiness, not filthy but the soiled napkins littering the floor were kind of turning my stomach. We put in an order for the cauliflower anyway. It came out so fast that I just knew this is prepared, popped in an oven or microwave and sent out... nothing fresh about this food. Hoping to do better with greens I ordered a brussel sprout salad (sans the bacon), it too came out speedily (pre-prepared?). Good thing I liked the flavor cause it was drenched in dressing. My husband's veggie burger also came out super quick and fell apart into crumbles, the fries were ok (this from a fry fanatic), and horror of all horrors, they use a generic off brand of ketchup- always a bad sign. read more

Stopped by this place just after lunchtime as we were up in Oshkosh doing some shopping. Awesome beer selection of which I tried numerous, and a small but great menu. Menu pretty much consists of a few appetizers, a few salads and sandwiches and burgers and a couple of other dishes. My wife and I were impressed with the food-we both had burgers-and we enjoyed the afternoon leisurely drinking beers. Don't know that this would be my go to place for dinner but for lunch or just hanging at the bar and working your way through their beer list, this is the place to be. read more

Friday at 5p. Got a table for six immediately. The taproom featured craft beers, cocktails, and limited wine selections. We had flights and a few appetizer dishes before ordering our sandwiches and burgers. Their Cauliflowers Manchurian and Avocado Fries were very crispy and tasty. My sandwich, Calamari Taco, was ok. This taproom has big screen TVs along each side of the wall. Every seat in this place will have a prime view of the screen if you like to watch sports. If you're a salad fan, you've GOT to try the roasted brussel sprouts salad. Even if you're not traditionally a huge salad fan, you've still got to try it. It's pretty hard to find a salad, something that most people immediately think will be bland and flavorless, that's packed with this much flavor. Truly one of the best salads I think I've ever had at a restaurant. We also got the fried avocado appetizer which was really good and a good portion. Prices were very fair and the ambiance is cute. The service was great; our server (I am pretty sure her name was Hana) was friendly, attentive, and genuinely seemed to like her job and people. My only complaint about the experience was that the restaurant was superrrr cold, very over air conditioned in mid July. Overall, would go back and would recommend it to others. read more

I have been here a few times now and this is one of my favorite "higher class" places in Oshkosh. Drinks- They have lots and lots of beers on tap from all over. I think they had 25+ beers last time I went. You can also get flights of beer with 4 different choices if you have a hard time deciding like I do. They also have delicious cocktails that appear to rotate depending on the season. Food- Food is delicious. They have lots of unique burgers and sandwiches. The appetizers are also great and the cheese curds are probably the best cheese curds I have had anywhere. They are fried perfectly and have a light airy feel while still having a little bit of crunch. Service- Service has been excellent no matter if I am going on a Tuesday night or weekend night. Never been rushed to give up our table. Drinks and food came out in a timely manner even on a Saturday night. Everyone is super friendly and welcoming. Overall if you want a great place to get a craft beer or 25 different craft beers, this is the place to do it. read more

I was in Oshkosh for the past several days and decided to give Ruby Owl's a try. The atmosphere was nice. My waiter was nice. He gave his recommendations. The prices were decent. I first tried the boneless wings in 2 flavors, bourbon barbecue & sesame ginger. It was 25 cent wing night, so I had too. I loved the bourbon bbq but wasn't a fan of the sesame ginger. Nothing was wrong with the wings. They were fresh & hot but that just didn't enjoy that particular flavor. For my entree I ordered the flat iron flank steak sandwich with fries. I truly enjoyed this sandwich. I just wish it had a little more meat on it. It was very delicious tho. I would definitely revisit in the future. read more
