For food, I shared pow pow shrimp which was nicely battered and had a pleasant lemongrass taste, the sake butter mussels (you get a good amount of mussels and the broth is delicious), basil chicken (always my favorite dish to try), shoyu tamago with caviar (I'd recommend not getting it with caviar since the delicious sweet soy vinaigrette it comes with overpowers the caviar), and the confit chicken which was tender and came with a delicious purée. Went by this place because my friends recommended it to us, and boy was amazing from the jump! Finding the door was kinda tricky, but my friends told us that was part of their schtick - making it something unique and have to know to know sort of thing i guess. But you go in and behind a red velvet curtain, you're met with just an explosion of decoration and cool wall paper and neon lights - we checked in with the hosts, and everyone had on fancy mics and walkie talkies - they take their service serious! We got seated upstairs and it's a whole other vibe up there - vibey, romantic, cozy. The host was asking us questions, led us to the table, presented their wine menu, and told us about how the upstairs recently got an upgrade. It was nice. Flowers and candles on every table - this was a classy spot. Our server was Cheyenne, and she is so so sweet. We loved her energy, she was knowledgeable about the cocktails and food. We ordered Thai Tea Martini, Knight's Rook Old Fashioined to start - really really good drinks! The Thai Tea Martini was so creamy and sweet, just like Thai Tea and the Knights Rook was a spiced, cinnamon flavored old fashioned. Cheyenne told us it's an Asian tapas style restaurant, so we ordered a bunch of small plates, and each one hit! Shaking beef - tender, juicy ribeye steak, basil chicken was bomb, and the cacio pepe with chicken cutlet bowl was a show stopper! Had dinner here for the first time last night for a friends birthday. I'm not sure what was going on, if our server was new or just not great at her job but most of my review is about service rather than food. I'll start with the food, which as all great. It's sort of a like Asian tapas. All small and shareable. Everything we ordered was really good. I would have preferred some sort of gage of spice as someone with a stomach issue and as a result is unfortunately spice adverse now. A few of the items we ordered were too spicy for me to eat without getting sick, but were not marked in any way in the menu-so a lot of my order I had to just give to the table. It is worth mentioning that some items are marked as "spicy" but definitely not all. Our table agreed that certain items were surprisingly spicy. I did order a Moctail (I was driving) that was delicious-almost like a lemon drop. Now to the service. First, I called in advance of our reservation to ask a simple yes or no question about parking that was not covered on their socials, their website and I saw nothing here on Yelp. We called, someone picked up said "can I put on a brief hold" and put us on hold before I could say anything 12 min later the call got disconnected and was never picked back up. There was no safe street parking (though there are options via park mobile-this was all full) so we were forced to valet ($5-not the end of the world) but the valet literally took our keys, parked in a spot 10 feet away and that was that. It's comically unnecessary to make people pay for valet. When we left he literally just handed us our keys and stood in front of us watching while we had to tip on top of valet parking...cool... Once we actually got to the table, first our drinks didn't come out until we asked 3 times about them and my drink took four reminders. Our first round of ordered reached us before any drinks. There were LONG stretches between anyone checking on us or taking a second round of orders. Our second round of drinks once again had to be reminded about. She couldn't really answer any questions about anything. By the time of dessert, one of our party ordered a coffee and that never came. When the bill came out it at least hadn't been charged (which tells me she just forgot about our "late" orders throughout the evening needing multiple reminders) they also ignored that it was my friends birthday despite it being in the notes at the time of booking. Not even a "happy birthday" which doesn't feel out the realm of reasonably (and despite me saying happy birthday a few times while our server was at the table) There was a very talkative someone (not sure if it was a host, manager, or som) who came by twice to talk up the bar offerings but she didn't introduce herself at all and sort of came up to the table to talk. They did not offer or ask to split the bill at all. We had to ask them to do it evenly which I know isn't ideal for everyone's budgets at the moment. For our specific table our half of the party had 6 dishes total and one moctail, while our friends ordered 8 dishes, 4 cocktails, and two desserts. So the plot down the center was not exactly even but it was too uncomfortable to ask for separate bills as we truly weren't sure she would know how to accommodate. I will say it's a really cool environment. I'd love to come for a drink sometime but not if I have to pay for unnecessary valet. A beautiful space and food was all good but the inconveniences and lack of general basic hospitality skills, makes me think I'm not returning or recommending it. (Plus more than $150 price tag for no drinks or dessert + all that nonsense is not it) Gave it 2 stars because the food I was able to eat was all very good. But it was truly a 1 star experience for us. Had we have gotten a better server it probably would have been an entirely different experience but from start to finish it just wasn't great. read more

I really really like this upscale Asian fusion restaurant. It is perfect for an intimate date night out. The ambiance is very intimate and posh, with very tasteful oriental decor. The drinks were good, they have a curated selection of unique cocktails. We got a couple drinks that were pretty good, kind of strong. For the food, they do sharable style where you can order small plates. You are able to order a variety of dishes to try, and the prices are very reasonable for 2 people. We got the tamago, cacio e pepe, brussel sprouts, miso eggplant dip, and basil chicken. Really impressed with the tamago egg dish. It has really good flavor and good texture with the crispy rice. Our two other favorites were the basil chicken and the cacio e pepe. The basil chicken had a nice crispy texture on the chicken while still flavorful with basil and onion. The consistency of the cacio e pepe noodles were fantastic and chewy, it reminded me of Italy. Lastly we had the Panna Cotta dessert. Let me preface this by saying I love Ruby Chows. I've loved it since the day it opened and have been a regular ever since. The food and atmosphere is amazing. I've introduced tons of friends and colleagues to RC as well. Tonight however, I was a quite disappointed to be bum rushed out of my table by the host after an hour and a half, even though I made a reservation ahead of time (which is held by my credit card by the way). My friend and I visited on an early Wednesday evening. We did have reservations, which I highly recommend, as it gets pretty busy and the place is small. This place specializes in Asian Fusion (mostly Thai and Chinese) cuisine and serves dishes tapas style. My friend and I ordered about 6 dishes to share, which were were all amazing! Such a cute place! I remember when this space was a sushi restaurant but it looks nothing like it did before, kudos on the interior design! This is a great spot for a date or for a girl's night. The restaurant is intimately dimmed and romantic. I took my bestie here for her bday. Now the food. So many yummy tapa dishes to choose from, and our waiter did a superb job describing the dishes. It was a tough decision but we went with the pork belly fried rice, bone marrow, green beans and the walnut shrimp. My friend also had the miso soup. Everything was so tasty! My first time having bone marrow and it was super buttery and flavorful but one of the ends of the larger bones was red which looked a little raw so we didn't eat that part. The bartender was amazing! Craft cocktails only here, we had lavender margaritas and they were a hit! Nicely balanced. Bathrooms were clean, service was great. My expectations were low due to it being an upscale Chinese restaurant but boy ol boy, let me tell you ..... it BLEW MY MIND!! I have had two different experiences at Ruby Chow that both go down, separately, as the two worst experiences I've had at a restaurant in Atlanta. You may be asking why I came back after the first experience... well the food is actually decent. Fool me once. I chose not to write a review after the first visit/experience because I didn't want to relive it, but after tonight I've come to peace with the fact that I am not the problem, but let's go back a few months. I came to Ruby Chow with a few girlfriends. We were having a wonderful time. Our server was lovely. One of my friends asked if she could make one of the mocktails a cocktail, server says sure no problem. We go on with our dinner, we're delighted, life is good, Trump is not yet president (again) all of the things. Well, our check comes and this is when the chaos ensues. My friend making her mocktail alcoholic resulted in a $36 charge on our bill. $12 for the original mocktail and $24 to add the liquor. We were floored. Mostly, we felt our server should've informed us before putting the drink order in, when she saw the total on the computer. Alas. Mike the manager was sent over. We expressed our dismay to Mike about the situation. Mike says it's not their problem, ingredients are expensive and Mike won't do anything about it. We had arguments back and forth about how this was not good customer service which ends in Mike finger wagging that they won't help us and they're shutting the conversation down; in fact, when we ended our request Mike's response was "are you done?". We were shocked, jaws on floor. Mike then comes back and realizes they were inappropriate in their response, but instead of rectifying says they became emotional because they felt like we were misgendering, and accusing them of toxic masculinity when they don't even identify that way. It was so irrelevant and unprofessional to the fact that we just wanted part of a $36 charge taken off our bill and admittance that the situation was handled unprofessionally. We left, and were all so rattled about how the situation was handled and what we were accused of as a group of women. Fast forward, our country is in a dark place. My husband and I have the opportunity for a date night and I said "how about ruby Chow?" That crispy rice salad sure would hit in these end times. We sit down, order drinks, and I am so excited by the new cocktail menu!!! My drink arrives and it is not only not cold, but it is so awful I can barely get the sip down. My husband loves strong drinks so I figure no problem, we'll switch. Rinse repeat, same situation. The drink is just simply awful (Thai me down if you've read this far). I ask our server if I can replace it and she notifies me they introduced a new policy where drinks cannot be returned bc they launched the new menu and lots of people wanted to sample the drinks so they were taking a few sips and returning them to try something else (?????). What does that even mean? Anyway, not her fault. This policy screams Classic Mike. Instead of enjoying our night, having dinner and a few rounds, we paid and left after appetizers. Anyway. Won't be back, would strongly recommend others don't bother. If you're going to have a final sale on drinks policy at least make sure they're good? Idk. This might be my favorite restaurant I've tried recently in Atlanta!! My friends and I walked in on a Saturday evening for dinner before a concert. We were able to get seated at the bar since it was just 3 of us but you DEFINITELY should get reservations. Parking also is a little tricky - you'll need to park in a Parkmobile zone, Ponce City Market and walk, or residential and walk. Service was excellent, everything came really fast like within 5-10 minutes of ordering! We got the Basil Chicken, Cacio E Pepe, Dumplings, Pow Pow Shrimp, and Fried Oysters. I also had the GBS (Ginger-Bourbon Sour). My drink was so tasty and just the right amount of ginger to play off the bourbon. The food was also incredibly tasty, we liked every single dish!! I think the pow pow shrimp, dumplings, and cacio e pepe has to be my favorite. There was plenty of food and we were able to finish dinner so quickly and be on time for our concert! I can't believe I haven't had Ruby Chow's in 5 years of living in Atlanta! It's right down the street from Ponce so I was always scared of parking. Luckily, I was able to find street parking across the street (Glen Iris). This place is deceiving from the outside, but don't let that fool you. The service, food and drinks were absolutely tasty. We were able to luckily get a seat at the bar. We sat down and ordered drinks. I got the cocktail with the empress gin and it was tasty! For the mains, we got a bunch of different options and they were all amazing! The dumplings were delicious and one of my faves and have to admit the cacio e pepe pasta was delicious. This is for sure a unique menu and everything is delicious. I came here for a date night and we ordered a variety of small plates to share. The dishes we ordered were the pow pow shrimp, the brussels sprouts, the roti, the basil chicken, the beef, and the wontons. All the dishes were very tasty and flavorful but my favorite was definitely the roti which had an Indian Asian fusion vibe. For drinks, I had the lemon drop martini and Spring blossom cocktail. My date had the old-fashioned and the cocktails were delicious. The ambience is one of the best features of Ruby Chow's: lively, dimly lit, cool artwork and decor. What a very special restaurant. If this is what my Monday started off like in Atlanta, I'm so excited for more of this city's great food. Our meal was absolutely delicious, creative and inventive. I wish I could take this restaurant home with me to New Jersey. My clients knew the chef Guy Wong since the beginning of his career, so we let them order all their favorites. All i can say is one dish after another came out and each one was not only stunning, but so incredibly delicious.
