This is supposed to be a steak burrito, but all I see is a bunch of beans and all I taste is a bunch of beans

An improvement would be to put steak in the burrito as the title states steak burrito

First time trying Rubio's and it didn't disappoint. Got the California bowl with the chicken and it was well seasoned, not dry, and service was super fast and the employees there are very professional and kind. The restaurant was very clean and tidy with ample seating. Also very much enjoyed the sauce bar and sauce availability. Overall rating: Food: 10/10 Service: 10/10 Menu: 10/10 Restaurant Vibes: 10/10 Price to Overall Dining (POD): 10/10

They had a taco Tuesday deal and I went here for lunch. I got 3 tacos for $10 and they were rather filling and tasted pretty good. The food did take a while to get though

Rubio's has been my go-to for baja style fish tacos since the 90s and it still serves up some damn delicious eats. In recent years it's been rebranded as Rubio's Coastal Grill but still carries the same vibe as when it was Rubio's Baja Grill. Same open, airy seating area, same salsa bar, same laid-back feeling. Staff is great and service is quick! Taco Tuesdays are still a thing here and definitely worth stopping in for.

The Original Fish Taco. It's nothing like it used to be.

I've been going to Rubio's since it opened in the 1990's near me. I've watched it steadily decline and today it hit rock bottom. Not only was the original fish taco's appearance horrible (where is the cabbage?), but the taste was off. The beans were still good, but the chips were so basic it was like eating corn flavored Pringles. No. Actually, Pringles are better.

1- Was not able to get the special via the app 2- Called the store and was told to come to honor 3- showed up - store refused and did not honor- walked away spent 35 mins on this adventure. Worth sharing Not a good way to treat a local client who does repeat business across the street often. I am guessing you are about to loose this customer and do give the Corporate time to review and contact me within 3 bus days Thanks

Three Shrimp Trio Soft Tacos with Chips and No Baked Refried Beans. with Fruit Punch Drink.

This is my first time ordering from the Rubio's Coastal Grill Restaurant at the Civic Center Drive location in San Marcos, CA. I placed my order with Marcie and ordered the Seared Shrimp 3 Soft Taco Trio it includes No Baked and Cheese Beans with Tortilla Chips. I also ordered one Fruit Punch Soft drink. My total bill was $17.00. I am enjoying eating the 3 Seared Shrimp Soft Taco Trip . This seared shrimp is very tender and so delicious and healthy for my lunch time meal. Each Shrimp Soft Tacos has a unique texture and amazing flavor.. The No Baked Refried Beans with cheese has the perfect amount of spices. And the Tortilla Chips were very crispy and delicious! Nyauni who also operates the cash register was very welcoming to me and gave me excellent customer service today. I love eating at this Rubio's Coastal Grill and Restaurant. I highly recommend Rubio's Coastal Grill Restaurant.

Sometimes you just need Rubios for the fish/seafood tacos fix. A quick good lunch. I got the coastal trio combo- came with grilled mahi mahi taco, original fried fish taco and the salsa verde shrimp. My favorite was the salsa verde shrimp! The original fish taco was good too. I like their salsa bar. Even though it's a chain and not your typical hole in the wall taco shop, they still serve up some good Baja style fish tacos.

Menu says "house wine" $10, or $6 at happy hour, but it doesn't list what the wine options are. I was trying to get a beer at happy hour prices, and they ran out and needed a new keg. No biggie except I didn't need a beer that much and my friends were waiting. I looked at the open wines at the bar, Estancia and J. Lohr. So I said, ok, I don't need to wait for a new keg, I'll just take the J. Lohr. It was going to be $14, because "it's not the happy hour wine." I don't know how anyone would no, cuz there's no wine list at the bar! Luckily they were nice and priced it at the $6 "this once." But it would be helpful if they listed what wines they have and had it either on the menu, or on the happy hour list ("not premium wines" or something). Anyway, I had fun. Food was decent. It's good that this place is still in Restaurant Row - so much of it is gone!

We were quickly greeted with warm, fresh chips & salsa as well as an order of waters. The waiter was very kind and great to talk with. He gave us just enough time to think about what we wanted and came back. We went with the house margaritas ($6), a few beers ($6), two large beef tacos ($8) and nachos with carnitas ($8). I was impressed with how stuffed the crunchy tacos were and how flavorful the carnitas were in the nachos. The meal was plenty to share with one person. Our waiter great throughout the whole meal so I really appreciated it. For a nice, weekday happy hour with good food, good drinks and good service, this is the place.

It was on a Friday night, the place was packed, and difficult to find a spot to park. The line to order was almost out the door, but still fast to get through, and we were quick to choose what we wanted before struggling to find a spot to sit and talk. After about 15 minutes, our order was ready and we got to enjoy our food. We started with the Carne Asada Nachos, Refried Beans on the side. The meat was flavorful, very tender, and plentiful atop a pile of crisp and fresh tortilla chips. The cheese was nice and salty and the sour cream was warm to the point where it drizzled over it all nicely. All in all, it was a very tasty start to the night. The only two issues I had with it were that the guac was a bit overly pureed, making it kind of runny. And the refried beans had a very sour flavor, making me think that they were over the edge of going spoiled. I had to thank my wife's aversion to eating beans, helping us avoid having them spooned on top, which would have ruined this course. I also had an Al Pastor Taco, Craft Coast Style. The whole it was crisped up well, the cheese forming a great crust on the inside of the taco. The meat was sweetly marinaded, flavorful and delicious. On top of it was a good amount of beans, onions, cilantro, and guacamole, making for a good sized taco without any overflowing. It was pretty damn tasty. So, our first trip out here had more highs than lows, resulting in a very positive initial dinner. I'm sure those beans were just a one-off, at least I hope they were. And there's still hope that the guac may have had too much lime or had been overly mixed this time around. A second trip is definitely in the cards, with more of the family to expand what comes to the table.

The shrimp burrito was enough to honestly feed two people. The fries alone were enough to feed 3. There was only two of us to tackle these orders. The bolt fries had curly fries, longanisa, guac, cheese and sour cream. Those were my favorite. The flavors blended well together. The shrimp burrito was ok. The rice was hard and old so it was difficult to eat. I would probably recommend skipping the burrito, hence the 4/5. I'm not sure what changed in the kitchen but I pretty bummed on the last 5 times I've gone. I get the California every time I go and add guac for reference, I'm a simple guy. Under-seasoned meat or not enough meat, soggy or dry/stale fries, light on guacamole when added sometimes, missing cheese. The consistency has been really off unfortunately for a pretty simple burrito. My last time I went I ordered the usual California burrito no sour cream add guac, got the burrito and it had sour cream and guac.... But no meat???? It was a big tortilla with sour cream and guacamole only in it lol. I laughed at the mix up and the customer service was great getting a refund (didn't request it they just gave it to me) and replacement burrito. Still decided it was my last time going there after that as even the replacement tasted like the meat had no seasoning on it. Writing this review to hope they turn things around some time in the future, I miss coming here but can't justify spending that much $ for a burrito I'm worried to be bummed about....again.
