I've tried a few locations and this one stands out among the rest. Ordered the fish tacos of course opting for the plate this time which comes with rice and beans. The large piece of fish was fresh with crispy exterior and plump juicy fish inside. Clean and organized, staff continuously wiped down tables as a steady the flow of guests visited. I enjoy Rubios. Especially their elotes street corn (the main reason why I keep coming back to Rubios) in a bowl as a side to two fish tacos (though the price seems to have gone up a little). Service is always friendly with a smile. I came during lunch time and it was quite busy and food took about 10 minutes, but really for good relatively healthy food that is not that long to wait while it is busy. Even though it was busy and crowded, there was still fresh salsa and places to sit. Rubios is one of my favorite places to chill and enjoy good food. read more

I love Rubios and this one is conveniently located in Redlands. Easy in and out with plenty of parking. The place is clean. Seating is limited but it seems most were taking out. Service here is good. There's hardly any wait. I partly ordered online to use my Birthday reward which was buy one get one free entree. Then I used my app for another coupon which was 2 for $16 at the counter. Online they have $7, $8, $9 menu deals but I asked her about it and she said that they have it but you have to ask. Overall, they have some great deals! My only complaint hence the 4 star, was the citrus rice which came with my bowl was hard. I don't think it was cooked long enough. read more

Placed an online order for 2 trio taco plates. And 2 steak tacos for my son minus the onions and cilantro because he is allergic. Get all the way home to find we were missing 2 tacos, and my son's tacos had everything we asked NOT to put on it. So we had to throw his dinner out. It's probably the slowest day of the year for them and just can't get right an order, why even do online ordering. They were doing a 2 for $16 deal. Check the app for good deals like that . With one bowl coming in at around $13 anyway using the deal just made perfect sense. I could have lunch ready for the next day! I decided to order the California bowl with salmon and the chicken taco plate for the next day. Both items were made to my specifications. Staff here are amazingly patient and kind. I ordered some fish tacos to-go for taco Tuesday craving. The side order of pinto beans and large order of the Mexican corn complimented the tacos really well. There's a few seating spots at the front of the shop where you can relax while you wait. I received my to-go less than 10 minutes later and was on my way. Inside seating looked to be high table, bar stool style. If you prefer outside dining, they also have tables and chairs outside facing Orange St. I didn't partake of the open salsa bar this time but it did look well-stocked and clean. I wish the to-go boxes were better ventilated so that when you eat the tacos at home, they don't get soggy from moisture. All in all, solid place to get your fish taco craving! read more

One of my favorite go to spots for lunch with my family. I usually get the beer battered fish burrito, its very filling by the way. I get the kids meal for my son and my wife usually gets a bowl. I have been getting fish tacos here ever since they invented fish. Tonight I'm trying the burrito which is something different. Also tomorrow is taco Tuesday so I don't want to get tacos on a Monday :-) The staff is very kind. They are young, which makes me think they would be on their cell phones all the time, but they are not. They are very professional and happy to be here. I can always count on and finding a good seat. I'd like to teach chairs aren't wobbly and falling apart like another restaurants. Also, they are chairs, they don't squeeze you into a booth you can't fit. The food is great. The menu has expanded so much in the last 10 years. I know they are closing some of these restaurants. I hope this one stick around because it is in a very classy area. read more

I usually order two and sometimes I get the plate which includes beans and rice, or just ala carte. It comes with two sauces for the tacos, a red and creamy beige sauce. Today we tried 3 different tacos at Rubio's Coastal Grill. The parking is in the rear of the property and shared by several other businesses. Be patient with the parking, there can be challenging times with the traffic movement. The facility is on the smaller size, so have a backup plan for a dining location at peak times - just in case. You can see from my pic our three tacos. Unfortunately, they basically tasted the same with only some minor differences. For what you see, each hovered, plus or minus, around the $5 price point. The Mahi Mahi taco didn't live up to their description. (It's the taco on the right-hand side of my pic.) The fish was dry, and the sauce lacked the anticipated flavoring and was sparse. The cabbage and corn were nice and crunchy. The chicken and beef tacos were closer in flavor with each other than what was expected. It was good that the beef flavor was prominent in that taco. In the chicken taco, the fresh avocado was the standout feature. It seemed the chicken taco had more sauce and therefore more heat - which was good. In both tacos the lettuce was crisp. In all 3 tacos the soft tortilla shells pretty-much held up. The house hot sauce definitely helped the chicken taco. read more

Well, we gave it another try yesterday and I have mixed feelings to share: SERVICE: The line was not long but it was moving very slow. When I finally reached the front I was greeted by a team lead that forgot their team lead hospitality. No real interest in helping me but I managed to get my order in. I remembered that they used to have a salsa bar where you could choose your type of salsa, but it was empty. I asked if salsa would come with the food....and the "team lead" advised me that I was supposed to tell her that before she finished the order. I apologized for not knowing the rules and she cancelled my total and added my salsa. Yay! Later I also ordered a "to go" entree for my son and she told me it would be 30-40 minutes because it was busy (I assumed online orders because not many of us inside) they were also telling everyone that walked in the door about the 30-40 minute wait...Can't count how many customers they turned away. Wow! FOOD: Here is where my mixed feelings come in...the food was great! Super fresh and tasty. Their shrimp and fish tacos were fabulous!! The salsa (that I got in trouble for) was just as tasty and spicy as I remembered. (Only reason it was not 1 or 2 stars) CLEANLINESS: Could have been cleaner, don't think they wipe tables down after customers clean up after themselves. At least ours was kinda messy. Probably because of their location, it's tucked in a small strip of businesses. First off, a must know. Sign up to receive their promotions and you'll get an instant $5 qr code to scan at register. You'll need it! This place is pricey in my opinion, but delicious. I've only had their classic shrimp burrito and it doesn't disappoint. Ask for verde salsa, it's delicious. To me, they should have a salsa bar. Instead, you have to request the salsa, as well as napkins. Their salsa containers are small. Wait time can be long if they're busy. Parking is plenty and should have no problem finding a parking spot. If you find Rubio's busy, there's other choices for food spots next to it. Environment is clean. If I can give 0 stars I would this is beyond horrible and disgusting quality how do one even prepare this for someone's to go order yet alone even still have this in their store the guacamole was literally black. How do you not have common sense to throw out this batch yet? They send it with my food and then have the nerve to blame it on the dash driver that my food was sitting there for 20 minutes even if something was sitting there for 20 minutes this guacamole was old either way it goes and the store ought be a shame whoever prepared the meal that day to even put that on somebody's food, I wasn't even able to eat my food nor able to re-order it because I only had 30 minutes on my lunch forced me to have to go back to DoorDash and get my refund. I am beyond disappointed and Rubios. This is one of my favorite places to eat and get some good food but this location disappointed me and this is disgusting. Somtimes we will order a bunch and leave it there for awhile, and the fish is still crispy, not soggy at all. Pro tip, order online and do a pick up order. It tends to get pretty busy on Tuesday evenings so try and order a bit early. One time it was like an hour wait for some fish tacos! read more

I love rubios and always try to get a California bowl when I'm visiting from out of state. This time they got my order wrong, which wouldn't be a huge issue if it were something other than shrimp. I had ordered a California bowl with salmon and grilled veggies. I took a couple bites and then started mixing it and found multiple pieces of shrimp hidden under the rice. I went to Rubios yesterday Feb. 26th in the afternoon. I love Rubio's but the hospitality was not the best. The guy taking our order was in his early 20s and was not very welcoming. We asked for condiments that other Rubio's provide on hand but they did not have it. When we asked about it the guy was very dismissive and a bit rude. It was really not that difficult to add extra onions when we asked for them. According to him they were running short on things. I went to the Rubios in Murrieta on Thursday and they had everything on hand yet this place could not provide extra onions. Even McDonald's gives you extra if you ask. I've been to this location plenty of times and was always pleased but this time the hospitality was cold and we felt not welcomed. I have to admit, I was more than a little surprised by my experience here. My +1 and I were helped by a gentleman who took our orders. I can't recall his name, but I do remember that his name-tag said "manager" on it. At the time I figured that maybe they were short-staffed. Regardless, he was friendly and took our orders, and then brought us our food shortly later. The food was delicious, and portions were at expected and filling. I ordered the Baja plate, and enjoyed the fish taco and shrimp burrito, which I enjoyed trying different salsas with. My favorite was the jalapeno lime from the bottle. My +1 ordered a blacked-salmon burrito and was pleased to find a substantial amount of salmon, particularly compared to the last Rubio's we visited (in OC) which was mostly stuffed with rice and beans. BTW I noticed the same manager who took our order sweeping the floor, cleaning tables, and interacting with the customers and other employees with a pleasant attitude. I wish more managers in general took the initiative to lead from the front like we saw this visit. Bravo! read more

Plus one star because the food is consistently good-- but good luck getting it! I get that staffing shortages have impacted many sectors, especially food service. As a result, this place is constantly closed without notice! Today, I put in an order on the Rubio's app. The app showed that the restaurant was open (it doesn't allow you to order unless the location is open), so imagine my disappointment when I drove up and saw that it was closed! There were no hours posted at all, so I couldn't judge if I should stick around or not. Then I tried to cancel my order and get my $15 back and was told to call the restaurant directly. It went right to voicemail. For me, this is a sign of bad management-- they don't pay people enough to keep them and they don't communicate their hours with the app. I'm sure I'm not the only one sending orders to this closed location. Plus, I love the jalapeño citrus hot sauce, but either 1) they are out of it or 2) they read "jalapeño" and then give me the pickled ones instead of the sauce I want. That's a minor frustration, but a frustration nonetheless. I hope this place pulls through this rough patch, because the food is great. read more
