Had a great experience at Rubio's today. I want to give a shout-out to Natali (i think I got the spelling correct) for her excellent customer service. While there wasn't a line, she walked into the dining area and helped guests by clearing tables and throwing away trash. That kind of initiative really stands out and shows she cares about the customers. I ordered the Rainbow Bowl with the pineapple salsa, al pastor sauce, and avocado crema on the side. It was fresh and delicious even without the sauces. Perfect meal after a workout. I ended up taking my food outside to sit in the Anaheim Plaza area and enjoy the beautiful weather while I ate. Every Rubio's in the LA and Ventura County area are gone so Anaheim is the closest one. I was going to Disneyland and went here. I bought the $20 gift card where you then get a bonus $5 gift card. I used both of them and my credit card to pay off the balance but I realize when I went home that I was overcharged $5. Friend ordered through their app to claim some freebies that they had for a birthday that had past (oops!). We came 30-ish minutes before closing but they had most of their chairs up on the tables, tables wiped, floors clean with the wet floor signs, and the entire salsa bar was already cleaned and put away. Dang, way to clean up super early on a SATURDAY night of all nights. Isn't it supposed to be one of the more busier nights? They were nice enough to let us stay until we finished our food and gave departure greetings, but I thought this was a bit crazy. We asked to get some salsa and they gave it to us on the side in little plastic containers. I'm not sure what my friend ordered but from what I saw and tasted, carne asada tacos with black beans and rice and there was some avocado in it which was nice. Love the kick of the red salsa. We purchased two separate orders of 2 gourmet steak taco plates today. I took 2 bites of one taco and my husband took 1 bite of his, but the steak had so much fat we couldn't eat them. We asked for chicken instead and they were kind enough to make us new ones. However, when they remade the tacos, they only gave us 3 (instead of 4 total). I asked why and was told 1 taco was ALMOST half eaten (took 2 bites that was full of fat), so they only made 3. That's the worst customer service I've ever had at any Rubio's location! Came here for the 99c fish tacos for National Fish Taco Day. Service was just ok. I asked if the side of brown rice and quinoa was vegetarian, and the person at the register just stared blankly at me and said they didn't know. So, I asked if they could find out. They had to ask someone else who then had to shout the question into the kitchen, and it just made me feel kind of uncomfortable and like a burden for even asking. When I got the side of rice, it was literally like 2 bites of rice??? I don't know if this is normal across all Rubio's, but how are they going around charging $2.29 for 2 spoonfuls of rice? It was slightly bigger than the salsa container. This portion size is honestly offensive and a scam. Fish tacos were big and fresh. Add your own lime, onion, cilantro, pickled jalapenos and carrots, and salsas from the sauce bar. They were decent fish tacos - not bad, but I have had better. The restaurant was clean and had ample seating. Parking in the plaza is easy. I ordered from the under $10 menu and got the beer battered shrimp tacos that had chipotle, cabbage, and tomatoes and a side of chips and beans. I ordered a side of rice for $3 and was a little disappointed at the size but the flavor of the food was still really good. As a street corn girly, I had to try their street corn in a cup. I love taco Tuesdays and Rubio seems a good place to go but after today experience with Evelyn, I might have to reconsider this Rubio location. First thing first, the happened on Tuesday, February 4th 2025 at around 6:46 pm. Evelyn doesn't seem to like when someone asks her for help regarding the menu and or if she needs to repeat herself. Restaurant was sort of busy at the time so it will be kind of hard to hear the first time but Evelyn doesn't seem to understand that. For decades, I ate at many Rubio's in different cities from Huntington Bch, Stanton, Orange and Santa Ana. I visited this particular location in Anaheim, 3 times within a month recently. PRO: - decent foods for the price, mainly the fish tacos - Clean and bright dining area - Music from the restaurant added a festive vibe to the atmosphere - Varieties of sauces/salsas at the stand CON: - a couple staffs (not all) have an attitude there when asked further details about a menu - Loud personal music from the cooks drowned out the restaurant's music, and it didn't help when the cook yelled the lyrics out loud like he is in the shower My last visit here was very disappointing. I stood on the side of the line waiting for my partner to make his final decision on what he wants to eat. I questioned the side items on the display menu. I decided to ask a girl with a shaved - sideburns haircut. She didn't bother to glance up at me and kept staring at the cash register, until I repeated myself again. Her answer was condescending, like I am dumb to not understand what is written on the menu. Evelyn, walked up and asked if I needed help. I changed my mind and not bother asking for the third times. They both said something in their native tongue and laughed. While waiting for our meals at the table, I heard the cook with long hair in a pony tail said, "F@$k You!" out loud. He was chatting with Evelyn about something. Then moments after, he had his personal music on full blast and singing loudly. I don't think he cares about his surroundings. I wonder why his long hair is not in a net, especially when he is handling our foods. As for Evelyn, she also cursed in her native tough too when she chatted with him. Seems like the norm for them to curse out loud while working. There were a couple groups of family with kids that evening - they don't need to hear all that. The salsa bar was clean and all fresh tasting. They were attentive to answering my questions, handing napkins for our meal and cleaning the outdoor tables for us to eat. The fish taco's are always A plus quality. The counter service lady even allowed a request to not give our child her dessert churro until later so it wouldn't distract her from eating. Restaurant not busy at all at 1:30 when I placed my order or at 1:55 when the food was brought to my table. 25 minutes for a very standard order that takes about 5 munutes at other locations was excessive. My receipt shows Cali chic b, chips, and x/s picante. I can read the receipt so I am not sure why the clerk "Precious" wasn't able to read the order she took and didn't include the x/s picante when she came to my table. They don't offer any napkins to dine-in customers. You have to go back to the counter and ask for one or reach around the counter as I did to take one since the clerks are not attentive. The table I sat at was so sticky that I could not pull my receipt off the table with ease. So I knocked 2 stars off for the lousy service, 1 star off for lack of getting the basics of salsa and napkins out with the order , and another star for the nasty sticky table. read more
