We came across this restaurant while we strolled around the neighborhood. My husband was drawn to the vegetarian options as sometimes they are hard to come by when we travel. The kitchen was quick to correct an error for my meal and were quite accommodating. Delicious freshly made lemonade as well! Only issue we had was that the courtyard doors were open allowing a lot of cigarette smoke into the restaurant which was gross since we are not smokers. Otherwise it would have been lovely to sit outside on the beautiful day.

    Yum!

This place was fantastic. I had some large cod-filled pastry thing and my boyfriend had a mini version, but with meat in it. I honestly couldn't finish my meal, which was really sad for me because it was delicious! I can't speak to the rest of the wait staff but our server was excellent. I think he might have been new, but I just really appreciated how if he didn't know the answer to something, he went to ask someone else to make absolutely sure he was giving us correct information. I would eat there every day if I could...

I ordered the halloumi pancake, and was so pleased with how balanced the sweet, savory, and spicy flavors were. The pancake is fluffy and only slightly sweet, and the halloumi is baked into the top, hidden underneath the eggs. The bacon was thin and well cooked, but still chewy. And the avocado was nice and ripe! Others at our table ordered the eggs benedict, which was served on a super thick slice of brioche bread, the scrambled eggs, and the egg sandwich. All were super delicious. The sausage tray bake was "superb" according to my grandfather too! They are also very kind and accommodating here. Our party of 6 had two elderly grandparents, to whom the staff offered seats inside while we waited for a table. The wait was not long at all, and we were all seated within 10 minutes without a reservation.

We were some of the first to be seated and the last to be served. Everyone has different palates so maybe you'll love your food. I think the best parts about this place are the architectural style of the building & how close you are to some really cool shops/libraries (check out Salted Books). It was nice to be able to people watch as you peruse through the streets.

What makes it special is watching the pastries being handmade right in front of you, which adds a level of freshness and craftsmanship that you can actually taste. The service was super fast and friendly. The pastel de nata came out perfectly, with that delicate flaky crust and warm custard that just hits differently when you know it was made moments ago. The espresso was equally impressive, rich and smooth, and the two together make for a simple but near perfect combination. If you are in the area, this is an easy and very satisfying stop.

The crust was super flaky and the tart was nice and warm out of the oven, but I didn't like the flavor of the custard. I did forget to add cinnamon to the top, but I don't think it would have helped me personally. The woman who stood next to me at the counter had a nearly orgasmic experience next to me, so it's obvious that my taste buds are apparently off. I loved the patience of the server, who got confused when I told her I wanted to eat in but wanted to take water to go. Note to self...Portuguese folks want to have their "to go" as "takeaway." What I also didn't know was that there was no place to sit!! I scooted down the counter just like all the other folks to watch the bakers prep the next gozillion pastries for the day. That was interesting. Then, I didn't know how to bus my dishes. I just left them on the counter like all the other folks and went away. I wouldn't skip going because of my personal taste buds, though. Enjoy it for yourself and let me know if you have a different opinion than I did!

My daughters loved the lazy salmon and disco mushroom. The space is small and tightly packed; they converted a two-person table into a three-person one and seated me on a stool. I typically try to avoid overly touristy spots, but this time I had to rely on Yelp, TikTok, and Google to guide me. While the food scene overall didn't completely win me over, Seagull Method Café stood out in a big way -- this was hands-down the best meal I had in Lisbon. Located in a charming pink building on a quiet street, the café has a cozy, casual vibe. After a bit of a walk uphill, we were seated at a small table by an open window that overlooked the street. The interior is stylish yet relaxed, full of personality and the kind of place you could easily settle into for a slow brunch or an afternoon coffee. Service was on the slower side -- it took a while to get our check and there was a bit of waiting between ordering and receiving our food -- but our waitress was friendly and welcoming. She offered a couple of recommendations that we wouldn't have chosen on our own, and I'm so glad we trusted her. We shared two dishes between the two of us, one sweet and one savory, and it was more than enough. * The savory dish featured corn fritters served with an avocado tomatillo sauce. They were crispy, fresh, and absolutely bursting with flavor -- one of those dishes you think about long after the trip is over. * The sweet dish was their take on French toast: a crème brûlée-style toast with a caramelized top, fresh berries, and a luscious whipped cream or cream cheese topping. It was one of the best French toast preparations I've ever had -- perfectly balanced and not overly sweet. To drink, I ordered a chai latte (beautifully spiced and creamy) and a fresh orange juice that was so vibrant it tasted like it had just been squeezed. My sister had a house-made lemonade that was equally refreshing and flavorful. In total, we ordered six beverages and two full meals, and I was pleasantly surprised by how affordable the final bill was for the quality and quantity. Although Seagull Method Café doesn't seem to be featured on every "must-try" list, it absolutely should be. When we left, there was a line wrapped around the building, which tells me the locals are in on the secret. Our server also mentioned they have a sister restaurant called POMME Eatery, which we didn't have time to visit -- but based on this meal, I wouldn't hesitate to check it out next time. If this café were in Florida, I'd be a regular. For now, it remains one of my favorite hidden gems in Lisbon -- a place I'd go back to in a heartbeat.
