Had a breakfast special. Eggs were very good along with the hash browns. Wife had waffle It was a nice golden brown with plenty of flavor. The sausage gravy on biscuits was good but could have been hotter. They need to work on the tea. We in south. It was not best.

My husband and I found this gem of a restaurant on YELP and decided that the GLUTEN-FREE waffles…read morewere the perfect birthday brunch for me. I had the banana nut waffle (delicious!) with a side of bacon, my husband had a strawberry waffle with eggs, bacon, and hash browns. He cleaned his plate (he doesn't often do this), and my waffle was so big I couldn't finish! We thought the service staff were welcoming and attentive. I was surprised that there weren't more people at the restaurant, given that we went on a Monday and many places aren't open then. There was some road construction (and we aren't from Augusta) so it was slightly hard to find. But I'm glad we made it--I'm planning to take my daughters back tomorrow!

I recently visited Cafe on Eighth and loved the initial vibe--it's a small, cozy, Black…read morefamily-owned spot with chill soft jazz playing in the background. Our server was incredibly sweet, and we felt genuinely welcomed from the moment we walked in. Because every dish is made from scratch to ensure freshness, be prepared for a bit of a wait. We also had to make some adjustments to our initial order because a few items were unavailable, but we still ended up with a solid meal. My girlfriend had the turkey bacon, the COE cakes (which are delicious hash browns), and the classic sweet waffles. I went with the beef quesadilla and the classic lemonade, which comes with free refills. The quesadilla was a great choice and the hash browns were very tasty. The waffle had a great flavor and was nice and soft, though it was served a bit cold. One thing to keep in mind is the presentation; the food is served on plastic plates with plastic silverware. While we tried not to let that affect our judgment since we were there for the food, presentation does eventually matter. Also, the temperature inside was a little warmer than I'd like--it was about 58 degrees outside, but that coolness definitely didn't translate to the dining room. It wasn't a dealbreaker, but it was noticeable. The most important thing to know before you go is that they only accept cash tips. It's a bit of a strange policy in this day and age since most people don't carry cash, especially when you're already using plasticware for the meal. They do have CashApp if you think to ask, but it's easy to forget if you aren't prepared. I really hope the staff is being taken care of if people forget their cash! Overall, the food was good, the service was great, and I didn't feel like my time was wasted. It's a nice local spot for a fresh, handmade breakfast

The whole staff worked as a well oiled machine. There was even a juke box! Very nice atmosphere and my husband agrees it's the best Waffle House we have ever stopped at. The bathroom was clean too

Deserves more stars but one bad apple spoils!…read more A friend and I decided to meet up and eat at this Waffle House because of it's proximity to our homes which are in two different towns. We needed to discuss something important and as a Chaplain, I've met others there including the Chief of Police of Yemassee. We arrived at 7am. Immediately, we were welcomed and a waitress came to our table and took our order. Our coffee and diet coke was delivered and our food minutes later. Up to that point, nothing could have been better. While we were talking, there must have been a shift change. I noticed a waiter approaching and he stated to us "you better leave me a big tip for as long as you've been here." I was shocked as the man appeared to be my age or older and I'm 67. A few minutes later, I asked him to top off my coffee. His body language told me he wasn't too happy about it but he did it anyway. A few more minutes passed and I noticed him staring once again just before raising both his arms in disgust. Let me pause for a moment and tell you that I have a reputation of being quite a tipper. I tip service and attitude. I do my best to make up for those who don't tip deserving wait staff. This encounter made me wonder whether this man knew that tipping is optional, not required and that it's also earned. For reference, I realized we had sat there longer than most. No person came in the doors and had to wait for a place to sit. Had he earned his tip, he would have thanked me heartily when we left because I would have tipped him for our time spent at the table as well, just saying. Concerned for this man's health, I told my buddy, "let's go." I took my check to the register where this same waiter was waiting. He rang me up and asked me if I wanted my receipt. I replied yes. Then I kindly said, "Just so you'll know, your tip would have been larger had you not been so rude." He replied, "You cost me lots of money." I finished by saying, "Don't worry, we won't be back." With customers sitting on both sides of the register and two staff standing near him, he replied, "I don't care!". I'm going to chalk this encounter up to one bad apple having a bad day cause the rest of the staff was much more professional and personable and I pray for this Waffle House' sake that he ain't making the rest rotten. Jim B.
