I was on a road trip home and we stopped off here for breakfast before the longer part of our drive. I can't tell you the last time I ate at a Waffle House. The restaurant wasn't too busy so we were easily sat. I ordered their all star breakfast. There isn't much to say other than the food is consistent with the last time I ate at a Waffle House. The bacon was crispy, the waffle was cooked fine and the eggs were the right type of runny for me. The staff was friendly and they seemed to work together to make sure everyone was taken care of. Refills were a little difficult to get, but not terrible. You could tell that this location had their regular customers, as there were several interactions with customers that seemed familiar to the staff. I liked that. What a delightful breakfast! Food was perfectly cooked, great service and the locals included us in their banter and we loved it!

Deserves more stars but one bad apple spoils! A friend and I decided to meet up and eat at this Waffle House because of it's proximity to our homes which are in two different towns. We needed to discuss something important and as a Chaplain, I've met others there including the Chief of Police of Yemassee. We arrived at 7am. Immediately, we were welcomed and a waitress came to our table and took our order. Our coffee and diet coke was delivered and our food minutes later. Up to that point, nothing could have been better. While we were talking, there must have been a shift change. I noticed a waiter approaching and he stated to us "you better leave me a big tip for as long as you've been here." I was shocked as the man appeared to be my age or older and I'm 67. A few minutes later, I asked him to top off my coffee. His body language told me he wasn't too happy about it but he did it anyway. A few more minutes passed and I noticed him staring once again just before raising both his arms in disgust. Let me pause for a moment and tell you that I have a reputation of being quite a tipper. I tip service and attitude. I do my best to make up for those who don't tip deserving wait staff. This encounter made me wonder whether this man knew that tipping is optional, not required and that it's also earned. For reference, I realized we had sat there longer than most. No person came in the doors and had to wait for a place to sit. Had he earned his tip, he would have thanked me heartily when we left because I would have tipped him for our time spent at the table as well, just saying. Concerned for this man's health, I told my buddy, "let's go." I took my check to the register where this same waiter was waiting. He rang me up and asked me if I wanted my receipt. I replied yes. Then I kindly said, "Just so you'll know, your tip would have been larger had you not been so rude." He replied, "You cost me lots of money." I finished by saying, "Don't worry, we won't be back." With customers sitting on both sides of the register and two staff standing near him, he replied, "I don't care!". I'm going to chalk this encounter up to one bad apple having a bad day cause the rest of the staff was much more professional and personable and I pray for this Waffle House' sake that he ain't making the rest rotten. I can't say much. A few... years ago --- several--/I had just flown into Denver to be a Nanny for summer- after airport w/ cousin in diner @ 3am. (It was not this particular venue. ). It was very friendly staff , She had us away from other patrons. Clearly they been out and she was super patient. Two other tables had odd folks prob like us. Perhaps the time of night gave off the creep vibe. But the food was fine- 3am diner not Tavern on the Green. No gun shots no complaints!!!!! read more

After visiting a friend in the hospital in Savannah, my daughter and I were starving. It was kind of late (9 pm), so we decided to go to the Waffle House which is close by our home. My daughter was telling me about a delicious item she had eaten before, so we decided to get that-sounded good! We took a seat and waited to give our order. One fella who worked there was busy sweeping, the lady was washing dishes. The 3rd man, rather large, was sitting at a table. Since we have both worked in food & beverage, we waited patiently for a server. We waited and waited and waited. Not one person said, "We will be with you in a moment" or acknowledged our presence. Our booth was right next the cash register, so we were quite visible. We started discussing "should we leave?". We waited a bit more. Nothing. So, we left. It was NOT busy. Everyone was eating. We went to Wendy's as it was the only choice. Their food was cooked fresh and delicous. That was the worst experience for both of us at a Waffle House. Needless to say, we will not return to the Point South Waffle House. A little common courtesy would have gone a long way, but not one of these 3 people possesses that apparently. (the guy with black scarf on his head even went outside to make a phone call) Travelers on I-95 wi be there for Waffle House, but locals....doubt it. A pathetic experience. read more

Which is why whenever we travel to the South we have made it part of our ritual to visit one of these All American icons. Their website is a hoot! They claim that if you placed all the bacon end to end they sell in a year, it would stretch over 25,000 miles-which is about the equivalent of the equator. They claim they serve 341 strips of bacon per minute. They claim that all the Coffee they serve in one year is enough to fill nearly 8 Olympic swimming pools. And best of all, they claim that since 1955 they've served 2,501,866,574 eggs! Our visit was great. Our server was a super friendly and very engaging guy. The process are dirt cheap. The atmosphere is simple, with no frills, but the food and service was great. We had a perfect waffle and a delicious order of home fries with jalapenos, ham, and mushrooms. What a horrible experience... even for a Waffle House. The employee they call Blue (a woman) was so rude and disrespectful to another employee working there. Malicious, cussing and very aggressive.
