A busy lunch spot. We've - Fried tofu - Thai boat beef noodle - bone in red snapper No beer - they don't have a liquor license. The fried tofu is simple, served with garlic in a sweet syrup dip. The noodle is tasty and flavorful; although I won't come back, if I have to, this is the one I'd order again. The fried fish sits in a bed of syrup, and it isn't not fresh, but the head is solid - not good for this bone picker. Single bathroom, with a few neat plants. A violin by the front counter and a piano by the door: all left by the previous owner. Two young servers work the room effectively, smiling. This restaurant is on Helen Freund's Tampa Bay Times top 50 list.

Pork larb

Had the pork larb and my boyfriend had the beef pad thai. The larb was very good; it's hard to find nowadays. The pad thai was nice and saucy and sweet. The mangos in the mango sticky rice was so good! The mangos were super ripe and delicious. Ambiance is different than your regular Thai place. Usually you walk in and there are beautiful gold statues and embellishments on the walls. This place was pretty bare bones in terms of decor but don't let that dissuade you. The service was great, they were very attentive. The food did take a little while for the food to come out.

Wow, what an unexpected surprise! We are here for medical stuff at Moffitt and was looking for a good place to eat. This little place is a gem. The staff is super nice and gives you time to look at the menu and answer questions. The moment we walked in the host was ready with menus and sat us right away. We ordered the crab Rangoons, they are really plump on the inside and crispy on the outside but not chewy nor hard, they were light and delicate. We also ordered the Tom Kha soup with shrimp appetizer and it was delicious. Spouse ordered the pineapple rice with shrimp. It was delicious and so much he couldn't finish it all I ordered #58 Vegetable entree with shrimp. Really good and a good assortment of cabbage, bean sprouts, carrots, scallions, broccoli and other stuff I can't think of. I got spice level 3 and it was perfect. Son ordered Green curry with chicken and it was packed with goodness! The eggplant was delicious (he shared with us) The staff was very attentive and checked on us multiple times. As we were leaving all the staff said goodbye and wished us a good evening. The interior is cute and clean. We will definitely visit again.

Short ribs & crab fried rice spice

Wow! The reviews did not lie. The food here is so good. Literally the best food I've had in a long time. I ordered the short ribs and the crab fried rice spice level 3. I will continue to come back here. It's the best Thai food around here, no exaggeration. The Thai tea was also really good! It wasn't overly sweet.

Amazing food. Great portions and super kind service. All around amazing experience-- solid for date night or group dinner. The crab Rangoon was insane, crab fried rice was light and equally filling, the tom yum was so delicious and flavorful. And the place was packed! We waiting about 10 minutes although they told us 25 minutes so that was a pleasant surprise. Would definitely recommend coming and hope to return soon next time I'm in Tampa!

Great food! I thought I was burnt out on Thai cuisine, but this was surprisingly good! The ribs were delicious, as well as the papaya salad with crispy pork, the crab and egg fried rice, and the crab Rangoon. The Panang Chicken was good, but not the best I've had. Prices are reasonable! There were only 1-2 servers during our visit (6:30-8:30), so I'm not sure if they were short-staffed or if that's normal, but it did slow things down a bit. The staff was friendly and prompt when we made requests. It's a bit of an unexpected hole-in-the-wall, nothing fancy, but who cares when the food is so good.

i had the most incredible experience at this Thai restaurant! The food was unbelievably authentic - the spices, flavors, and aromas were truly out of this world. It's a small, cozy spot, but the moment I sat down, I genuinely felt like I was in Thailand. The drunken noodles were absolutely amazing. The pad thai was just as delicious, with the perfect balance of sweetness, tang, and heat! This place is a hidden gem, and I can't recommend it enough.

I finally got around to trying this restaurant and I am glad I did. The staff was very friendly and welcoming - they gave great recommendations! I ordered the Thai tea, which was a tad too sweet, but delicious! The papaya salad was amazing. I ordered level 2 spice and I can definitely handle more spice next time. The lime and acidity on that was fantastic! For my entrée, I ordered the pad woon sen. I also could handle more spice than the level 2. It was so tasty with the glass noodles, but the beef could've been more juicy and tender. I'm looking forward to coming back with friends and trying more dishes!

It has been a minute since I've been able to have authentic Thai food, I would definitely say they get the authentic Thai spice right. My nose was running with just the level 3 spice. The pad gra pow over rice was the star and a classic favorite. I tried to expand to the Che pow which was good but would probably stick with the classics next time I go back. Service was very friendly and quick to seat you.

Pad See Ew (Beef; Level 3 Spice)

My boss treated me for work lunch at the Royal Thai restaurant this past Monday. Being a foodie himself, he tends to be fairly on point when it comes to judging restaurants. But also beggars cant be choosers - can't really complain about a free meal especially when it was at the Royal Thai restaurant. It had been a hot minute (probably going on a year) since I dined at a Thai restaurant (exempting my experience at the Wat Mongkolratanaram). I am very temperate when it comes to Thai food considering that it's more on the sweet side relative to other Asian cuisines. And usually, my last Thai meal will determine the amount of time before I start craving Thai food again. With that being said, I am probably going to go for Thai again in the next week, if not, definitely within the month after having Royal Thai. Royal Thai sits along Hillsborough Ave (580) on the westbound side headed to the airport. It really blends in with the cluster of buildings of the Airport Industrial Park Plaza, so it can be easy to miss. There is plenty of parking within the spacious plaza lot. While not the biggest restaurant (perhaps a dozen tables at most), it seemed capable of accomodating large parties of 10 at most. Walking in during lunch, I was surprised to find that almost all the tables were occupied with diners. If that was not a testament to either an extremely loyal fanbase or great food, then the steady stream of patrons during our entire time there definitely speaks to how legit this place is. I ordered the Thai Papaya salad at Level 4 and Pad See Ew with Beef at Level 3 (5 spice levels). The papaya salad was refreshing - the peanuts and dried shrimp gave it that extra crunchy textures that complimented the papaya nicely. It was a bit on the sweeter side but great nonetheless (if you're into spicy food, get this at a Level 5). The Pad See Ew was also delicious. The flat noodles were cooked to perfection. It was not overcooked to where it stuck to each other or was mushy. Interestingly, at Level 3, the Pad See Eww had a bit of a kick to it. Overall great Thai food. Come visit Royal Thai and you will not be disappointed!

We were so happy to find great and authentic Thai food and look forward to more. The service was amazing and there was plenty of seating for all guests.

Thai boat noodle

This was the first stop after a long flight. It's about 10-15 away from the Tampa airport. There were 14 of us in town to cause havoc for a bachelor parties and we were hungry. We walked in and were seated right away. They have plenty of room and there were about three other parties there. I learned about this place thru TikTok and it look amazing. The food is very authentic and taste like my grandmothers cooking. All the sauces were great with each items. Started with the pork jerky and calamari. The pork jerly was fried perfectly with a nice crisp and pair with a spicy sauce. I had the Thai boat noodles and the flavor was on point! I didn't have to add anything else in but I needed more spice. Also got the pork leg stew over rice. That was yummy! So if you're in the area, stop by and give it a try! Talked to the owner and they have been open for 9 months. Her family moved from LA. So go and support the small business! I will be back!

Tom Yum Noodle Soup
Matthew O.

This place might be the best hole in the wall Thai restaurant in Tampa. You would never notice it at the corner of a nondescript office park on Hillsborough Avenue. But if you step inside, you are Richey rewarded with some of the best Thai food around. The people working here are super friendly and cheerful, helping to make for such a warm and inviting atmosphere. The food itself is awesome! Large portion sizes that are full of flavors and spice. The Tom Yum Noodle Soup I got was full of fantastic hot and sour flavors that not only opened up your tastebuds but your sinuses as well. Excellent job and keep up the amazing work :)

The person running the to-go line(s) was very helpful when she heard I was a first timer, and gave me lots of helpful tidbits. I ended up going with the buffalo salad: carrots, celery, romaine, tomatoes, croutons, then sub feta instead of blue cheese, and the spicy buffalo ranch dressing on the side. I topped this was a side order of grilled chicken. I also ordered a single pretzel stick. Food was ready incredibly quickly. I'm used to a chain restaurant I frequent a lot for salads that takes an unusually long time to prepare food, so this blew my mind a little. I did not love the pretzel stick = it had the taste of garlic, which I hate. I did really like the salad though, although I would have preferred all the ingredients to be mixed, instead of sitting on top of the salad. Plenty of toppings though, over a generous portion of lettuce. No ambiance review because from what I gather this a to-go only kind of place, which is a cool and useful concept. I will definitely be back when the salad craving hits.
