Highly doubt I will return. I went here to get my nails done for my birthday and was excited to try a new place out. Afterwards, I regretted even going here. Wish this could have been my new "nail spot" but unfortunately it won't be. Everything was great until the lady started working on my cuticles ... She was using the square nail block that is like sandpaper and she was basically rubbing my entire finger and tearing up the skin around my nail. She was so rough and my nails / skin around my nails looked terrible! It was painful and so uncomfortable. She then used the cuticle trimmer and took off so much skin around my nails. She ended up cutting too deep and made me bleed. She apologized and cleaned it but still proceeded to be really rough with my other nails. The actual shellac looked great and I was happy about that. But I wasn't happy when I got home and realized 5 fingers were bleeding from how rough she was with the trimmer. Pictures attached 3 days after I got them done. She gave me $5.00 off my bill, assuming because she made me bleed. Not sure if I will return. I recommend you tell the technician who is doing your nails to go easy on your cuticles and to speak up if you are uncomfortable. I wish I got the name of the lady but I didn't. read more

There is nothing Royal about this place. Went in for a manicure and pedicure. I had shellac on my toes. They file the shellac off. No soaking with anything to help dissolve/soften. The gal was in such a hurry, she kept filing the skin on my toes. Kept reminding her she was hurting me. She would slow down for a bit, then resume full speed again with no apologies. Most uncomfortable pedicure. I almost walked out, but I was with three other girlfriends and didn't want to ruin their vibe (which frankly their experience wasn't any better). Manicure was not any better. Will never go back again. Not sure how they have 4 stars. read more

I made an appointment and arrived on time. It was for a solid color dip manicure. It took over 2.5 hours, and I was charged $50. I'm not fully convinced the technician is certified. Like the quality of this manicure LOOKS AWFUL. She STAINED the dip powder INTO MY SKIN and I work in corporate office so my fingers look PERMANENTLY DIRTY now. I was really big on this place for a long time. I used to being people here all the time, because they were the best. They made sure to do everything well and took their time, always. It seems that all of a sudden, their service has gone down hill. The last three times I've gotten my nails dipped here, at least one of my nails has broken within a few days. I've always sucked it up and dealt with it, but this time, when my nail broke just about 24 hours after getting my manicure, I had to say something. Binh made me an appt to get my nail fixed by Julie. I'm not ever disappointed by Julie, so imagine my surprise today. When she "fixed" it, she'd filed it to the point that it was translucent on one side. When I pointed it out, I could tell she was irritated with me. She immediately began talking in Vietnamese to her brother, Binh, obviously talking about me. So incredibly unprofessional. I've never felt so offended by here. She took to the file and filed everything off my nail (not what I expected her to do to fix it), to the point that my nail is now paper thin and pulsing in pain, and then sarcastically asked me to look at my bare nail and asked if it's okay. She finished and I left. I will not be back here again, which is really sad because it was once my go-to salon. Never again. You, single-handedly lost my business, Julie. I understand we all have "off days," but the way you spoke to me (and about me) was completely unnecessary. I will very gladly take my business elsewhere :). read more

It's very rare I write a review immediately upon my return home. But I wanted to get everything down before the old gray matter starts to lose the experience I just had at Royale Retreat. I've been watching this place being built in a little strip mall known as Lantern Lane Shopping Center. Why it is called Lantern Lane I have no idea because there is no street by that name around here (or at least I haven't seen it). A couple doors down from The Fresh Market, I have been very patient and curious about this new place which this side of town desperately needs. And so convenient to my house I looked expectantly at their door these past few weeks wishing the open sign was lit and today it was. The place is small but gorgeous. They have a small reception area with a gorgeously ornate Louis XVI-ish leather & gold chair. Big wooden doors with glass panel water walls separate the reception area from the main part of the spa. The room has about 8 spa chairs and 4 nail stations, a gorgeous wood built-in that hides supplies and a beautiful chandelier with wrought iron & crystals (or perhaps lighter material since it does hang above a couple spa chairs. The colors range from a caramel-café au lait to deep mahogany. Curtains draped from the ceiling gives the room dimension. The back area of the salon is for waxing and facials featuring Dermalogica facials. I was seated immediately in a very comfy spa chair that had soothing massage action (unlike some chairs that just shake the snot out of you). The technician brought out a nail color palette for me to choose a color while she went to get me a beverage. The pedicure was simply divine. My feet & legs were massaged & buffed sending me to heaven. I actually caught myself nodding off. The polish was applied and sadly the experience was over. I am so excited & happy this place opened up in my neighborhood. Please don't hate me because I'm gonna have the prettiest feet OTL, thanks to Royale Retreat. read more

Also, I did not receive cuticle cream and all of their tools they used for my nails (buffet, file, etc.) we are dull and were clearly used in previous customers. This seems to be a popular neighborhood spot. I Came for mani/pedi during lunch and the staff was very sweet. Unfortunately the polish on fingernails started chipping a few hours later and peeled off on two fingernails the following day. I called and they were very nice about having me come back and redo them. I had an option to upgrade for shellac (pay the difference) but I ended up bringing my own polish. The gentleman (part of the management) and the lady who did my manicure offered their apology for my needing to return and repainted my nails without an issue. I've gone to this nail salon for a couple years now. Every time I walk in, they greet me by name and everyone is really friendly. I normally get shellac manicures with the spa pedicure. In general - I love it here! They have a large selection of colors and will always help you find the matching color in regular polish of you prefer. my nails typically last 2-3 weeks. I normally don't have any issues with my nails not coming out the way that I want them or chipping too early. Location - because it isn't right off a freeway, it takes a little bit driving through a neighborhood to get there depending on where you are coming from. But I don't mind this and like the location. Cleanliness - the salon is always clean and they use the plastic for the pedicure bowl. Other tools used are sanitized Friendliness- everyone is always super nice! they don't always speak English the entire time, but I never get the impression that they are talking about bad about any of the patrons. read more

This nail salon is in my neighborhood and I have visited it twice. The first time I went with a friend who wanted to go there. As soon as I sat down in the chair I knew something wasn't right. The workers seem like they hate being there. They are distant and rude. I got a pedicure and a full set of tips. The pedicure girl was rough with my feet like she was mad at her husband and taking it out on my toes. The manicure wasn't pleasant or relaxing despite the newly remodeled space, which most people would say is nice. In my opinion, it doesn't matter to me how a place looks if people are bitchy and mean. I returned today to get a refill on my tips so I could get the same nail color from the color pallet they give you to choose from. The nail tech was young and seemed inexperienced, but I was patient and said nothing...just waiting for it to get better I guess. She would put some product on the brush, then wipe it on the napkin like she got too much and try again...and again...Finally an older lady worker came over and asked me to move to her station, which I did, and she finished my nails. Again, this tech was rough and I bled from the grinding tool. She was wearing glasses so I'm not sure why she was clumsy with the tool. I paid $40 for the refill. It seemed like I was never going to get out of there. It just went ooooon and oooon. It began to feel like jail. Tracy Nails is in the neighborhood too and I will be back there. At Tracy Nails, the workers are friendly, speak English, efficient and do a good job. I will not be back to this overpriced, unfriendly old lady store. read more

This place is just beautiful and the music they played while I was there was very calming and relaxing. All of the staff were so courteous and friendly. I felt very spoiled from the minute I walked in until I walked out. As soon as I walked in my shoes were bagged and I was asked what I wanted to drink. The massages during my mani and pedi were awesome. The deluxe mani includes a shoulder rub! The pedi that I chose includes hot stone! It's not cheap but it's not super expensive either. One more thing, when I get my nails done the chattering of the staff never bothered me but I will say this is the only nail salon I've ever been to where the staff does not chit chat away. The nail salon just opened six days ago. The salon is gorgeous and everything is sparkly clean! You will not find Asian ghetto fabulous here. The massages here are the best; unfortunately the nail technician did not apply my polish perfectly, maybe she needs a stronger prescription on her reading glasses. That being said this is a great salon and hopefully if I return, my nail technician will be more precise on her execution of applying my polish. OK, I had to edit my review and just give it three stars vs. four stars, I orginally gave the salon. My nails are completely dried and due to their process of applying the color and then putting the top coat on that puts the shine on the color and to help with the drying process, my nails are covered with bubbles! It did dry super quick but the end result does not look professional at all. read more

This experience was just not memorable in a positive way overall. While I enjoyed some aspects of the mani-pedi, here are my issues...in random order: 1. friendly: they were okay on this. 2. professional: in their technique, they seemed professional...all I had was a mani-pedi, and they were basic, not shellac, etc. They seemed to focus well on the treatment/pampering aspects, not shorting me on time or effort. What I didn't love was the color issue. Apparently a pale warm pink polish is a tall order. It took them about 10-15 minutes of discussion at the polish-wall to figure out which ones I might like, and I actually would have been happy to select it, but I couldn't leave the pedi-chair. :-( 3. price: this is not a bargain, but it's not the most exorbitant nail place either. However: their options for colors are seemingly limited, and they use the "OPI" brand name, but offer a lot of random Zoya polishes, etc that are not at all OPI. Lots of frosts and other dated shades. About the color again: They brought back 3 colors, which were a dusty rose, a dark mauve, and some icy pink color. NOTHING like the plain, bubblegum pink I liked. So I asked if I could (again) have something more like a regular, carnation pink. *pointing to nail wheel nail again*.... 5 minutes later, a hot pink OPI polish (magenta) is brought over....yeah, this was just not my day for a great polish experience. The color selection was good and they give you a menu to pick out which pedicure you want so you know exactly what you are paying for.
