They did not connect one of the jets so the pool did not filter correctly. Video on the right shows the pipe that connects to one of the jets flooding. They said "we didn't know what it was connected to so we didn't touch it." I had Royal Pools & Spas install a new pool liner, heat pump and pool slide in my in-ground pool. They originally installed the pool in 2005 so I went with them even though other pool companies were cheaper. It cost about $25,000. I believe the price was excessive. Royal Pools & Spas does great work regarding installation. The service guys were professional, on time and cleaned up. I only had a problem with the price. I believe it was about $7,000 more than it should have been. The three stars are for the service guys who did the installations. I would have given them a tip but I was pissed off at being overcharged for everything. Royal Pools and Spas does great installation and service but their prices are outrageous!! read more

I recently had the pleasure of working with Royal (New Hampton) on restoring my 1970s home's pool. It had not been worked on in over 25 years and was in desperate need of repairs. Luckily (and randomly) I got in touch with Beth, one of the owners, who informed me that they had actually worked on this very pool back in the day. We just got new boards replaced, new plumbing and gear, a new liner, and other structural repairs completed, along with tons of very tailored advice on our specific pool, in our specific setting. The work itself is beautiful. Whether it was Beth or Matt (the owners) or some of the pool techs that helped with the project along the way- everyone treated us with respect and professionalism. They called or dropped by when they said they would, and the project was completed on time (and just a little bit over budget). I appreciated the open communication via text and phone call, as well as the transparency of the quotes and estimates I received. Was it the cheapest way to get the project done? No. Do I still worry about the pool caving in or sliding down the hill? Also...No! I can confidently recommend these folks whether your pool need serious work like ours did, or just occasional maintenance. read more

Do not buy anything from Royal in 2020. Months ago we ordered a hot tub. 3 times now they have pushed back an already delayed delivery schedule. The latest delay today they cannot even give a timeline. They hide behind the manufacturer, who also has no information. They keep blaming "COVID surprises". That was acceptable when the crisis hit but it's nearly August and it's not news now. 3 weeks ago we were told it's finally on its way. Dug a trench through our yard and laid a concrete slab etc. now no information if or when it'll ever arrive. Strongly advice against using this company, and their manufacturer Sundance, who have a supply chain stretched across the US and Mexico but no handle on where any of the parts are. I was dissatisfied with hiring Royal (Newburgh). I had explained to them that I needed assistance with vacuuming the pool as I had "won" the battle of turning the water from brown to clear. I tested the water, and they provided a report and checked out. I paid the fee upfront as per their policy and waited for them to call to schedule a date to arrive. They never called but showed up on the property unannounced, took pictures, and said they would return with their vac and pump and clean it up with no problem. They said they will call when they come back. I told them you didn't call now when you showed up, and they stated they were in the neighborhood. They showed up a week later, again unannounced (even after we called the company to find out when they were coming), vacuumed for 20 minutes in one corner of the pool, took their belongings, and left. The only reason I know they were there is because of my Ring Camera. I called to find out their status and if they were returning and stated that I needed to pay an additional fee for their return. The manager (Erika) was rude and stated they had pics of before and after, and I agreed to see them and compare them with my recording. They said they would call me back and have been dodging me since. Rip-offs, faulty customer service, lack of proper management, no time management, and no communication with customers. Royal pools has been absolutely wonderful for me this year. I had just purchased a house with an inground pool and I knew nothing about it. Trying to fix it myself turned my 20x40 pool into a pea green ecosystem. It was awful. Finally I came to my senses and called Royal. Stephanie became my ally and took charge of my problem. This place is the worst for customer service, rude people starting with Debi and going to a worst guy called JP. Bought a $8.000 spa from them and tried to get the weekly maintenance done only to be left hanging by this horrible and unprofessional company. Service was schedule for a date and nobody showed up. When called to ask why, was told that they needed a credit card on file. Problem solved and they couldn't come to clean right away, well after the original appointment. I asked why a different day since I was counting on them coming on Monday. The very professional answer from the unprepared, uneducated person was "You can count all you want, we never confirmed anything with you". I told him to F off and hung up. Stay away from them. I ordered a safety cover from Royal Pools for a new inground pool. The pool is surrounded by pavers of various sizes, small, medium and large. Three of the anchors they drilled were placed into smaller pavers, one of which had to be cut into a triangle in order to fit the space. All of which were surrounded by larger pavers. Needless to say, all three cracked in half. When I contacted Royal, they said there was nothing they were willing to do since the pavers must have had "defects". read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY FOR POOL MAINTENANCE. We've been with them for three years, and every single year they have incompetent maintenance people taking care of our pool who don't put the right chemicals in the pool, don't clean it out, don't tell us when something needs to be adjusted on our end. We are literally educating the pool maintenance people ourselves on how to take care of our pool and they STILL can't get it right. They say they'll show up and they never do. You call customer service (WHICH YOU CARE RARELY GET THROUGH TO) and they are just kind of like, "uhhh we'll see what we can do" and NOTHING EVER CHANGES. The worst part is that its a monopoly in this area and there's no other pool maintenance companies to call. I've never seen such terrible service and lack of reactivity. We express on a WEEKLY basis how disappointed we are and how we feel screwed out of our hundreds of dollars a week and nobody seems to care even the slightest. Honestly I would be ashamed to work for a company like this, taking people's money and doing ZERO in their favor. Have they ever offered any sort of discount or kindness to us? NO. I get their weekly emails about discounts on pool floats and it just annoys me so much. HIRE AND TRAIN SOME DECENT, RELIABLE MAINTENANCE WORKERS! IT'S NOT ROCKET SCIENCE! I feel like some huge trick is being played on me. Honestly, don't do it, you'll just feel frustrated constantly. It's honestly, I swear, to just learn how to maintain your own pool. We purchased a nice used Sundance 880 series Spa from the owner Matt and his wife Beth at a great price and they delivered it to us here in PA, The old unit was removed, everything was cleaned up and the new spa was put in place, a difficult delivery as we live at a lake. They did everything they said they would do and more. Spa had some warranty issues but they were all immediately fixed by Matt and his staff. The Hi speed pump bearing was starting to get a bit noisy and bingo a brand new pump and motor unit were brought back out along with a new quieter air pump which were then installed, no questions asked. They entire staff at the store are friendly and have one goal in mind, customer service and satisfaction. It is rare to find such great service, I highly recommend Royal,Pools and Spas! read more

Horrible experience!!!!!! I don't do reviews but after waiting over a month for the company to do the right thing I have no choice. I hired royal pools for a pool opening ,the tech came out to put the pump together and start up the pool. They were on site for 20 minutes and were unable to find the power to turn on the pump (which was next to the pump) my wife was trying to show them where the power was put it was a Friday afternoon so the tech said he couldn't wait and we would have to call to have them come back out to finish. So I called the next day and was informed that they did all they could and if they came back out I would have to pay for the whole thing again. So they didn't complete the job and the pump they assembled leaked and had to be taken apart and reassembled. They refused to refund me or come out and fix there mistake I called multiple times and left a complaint and just never heard back. So horrible experience and would never recommend them for anything. read more

Gary was super knowledgeable and steered us towards options that worked for us and wasn't overly pushy or salesy. We also regularly use the lab for water testing and they are fast and clear with instructions. And we've also used them for service a couple times - to balance water on occasion and to winterize the spa, they are flexible and professional and it makes our life so much easier to have them just a phone call away. William came the day before you closed, and thoughtfully went through all the basic troubleshooting steps before deciding that it needed a new motor. Hired them to redo my gunite pool. The finish WS so sharp you couldn't touch the bottom. They had to come back to redo and all did part of it. Couldn't get them to return to finish the repair. They made a mess of the new tiles and the skimmer was uneven. Find another pool company or you will be very sorry. Get any one else. read more

Royal redid our pool tile and gunite and closed up the pool for the winter. When we opened it up we learned that the gunite was sharp and not smooth, the skimmers were a mess and there were twigs, debris and stains on the bottom of the pool They did not respond to multiple calls and emails to fix the problem.
