The chemicals saturated the air -- making it hard to breathe. Such a strong scent. I've never experienced anything like that before. I had to leave after a minute. Thank goodness that a few blocks down I found Nailspree. No heavy scent. Appeared to be neat. The customers in the store looked happy/satisfied. I could communicate with one of the techs. She spoke English decently. The others seemed to barely speak English. If you're willing to be patient about that, this place can work for you. My tech was Joan. She only works on Sunday. She had a sweet demeanor and her work was gentle and meticulous. It was a bit pricier here than the 1st location I checked out but worth it. Overall, still less expensive than Manhattan and NJ. An overall good deal. PRO TIP: Join their free membership/rewards program. Ask them about it. After some visits/$ spent, you'll qualify for a $10 credit to be used towards an upcoming visit.

Even her husband started talking to me about the quality of LCN. I thought it was light conversation, but it felt more like a sales pitch. My nails sometimes feel weak after removal, and I wanted a break (and to go boxing!). Removal was $15 for cutting, filing, shaping, buffing, and cuticle oil. Adding polish is an extra $15, and basic manicures already start at $15. I skipped the polish and will do clear at home. It's one thing to keep customers happy and accommodating, but it's another to also be understanding when a regular customer just wants to go basic even if they've been consistent with business. Mimi did check in with me after, which I appreciated, but feeling pressured doesn't make me want to return. I do like this nail salon and hope for a more understanding experience next time. I had what might be the most unpleasant nail appointment I've ever sat through. From the start, she was rushing, and not in a subtle way. When I politely asked her to ease up because she was hurting me, she barely grazed her glove and said "see? Doesn't hurt" -- completely dismissing what I was telling her about my own pain. She then continued at the same pace and pressure. Being heard was simply not on the agenda. The quality of the work matched the attitude. One of my nails had a visible thread of polish hanging off it, clearly about to crack, and when I pointed it out she told me she didn't know what I was talking about and couldn't see anything. I could see it. And sure enough, by the end of the same day, that nail had already cracked and was looking overgrown. Same-day results like that tell you everything you need to know. I paid good money to leave feeling dismissed, hurt, and with nails that were already failing before I got home. I'd strongly recommend requesting a different tech if you visit Latouie -- or doing your research before sitting down.

My tech's name was Hebe and she was wonderful! She gave a great 10 minute massage that accompanied my upgrade green tea spa pedicure. She was very meticulous and took her time. I didn't have to micromanage her every step of the way and actually got to relax in my massage chair. My color was gel #269 which was a very lovely coral/ pinkish color perfect for spring. My legs are soft and my aching feet were massaged back to life. For $5, I opted to enroll in their membership program, which was the activation fee.
