5 stars I don't write reviews often, but my experience with Tina today genuinely warrants a warning for anyone considering booking with her. I had what might be the most unpleasant nail appointment I've ever sat through. From the start, she was rushing, and not in a subtle way. When I politely asked her to ease up because she was hurting me, she barely grazed her glove and said "see? Doesn't hurt" -- completely dismissing what I was telling her about my own pain. She then continued at the same pace and pressure. Being heard was simply not on the agenda. The quality of the work matched the attitude. One of my nails had a visible thread of polish hanging off it, clearly about to crack, and when I pointed it out she told me she didn't know what I was talking about and couldn't see anything. I could see it. And sure enough, by the end of the same day, that nail had already cracked and was looking overgrown. Same-day results like that tell you everything you need to know. I paid good money to leave feeling dismissed, hurt, and with nails that were already failing before I got home. I'd strongly recommend requesting a different tech if you visit Latouie -- or doing your research before sitting down. read more

The last time I came here was 2013 and this place is STILL fantastic! I booked two pedicures for my friend and I for Saturday morning at 11AM, and the place was already quite busy. My tech's name was Hebe and she was wonderful! She gave a great 10 minute massage that accompanied my upgrade green tea spa pedicure. She was very meticulous and took her time. I didn't have to micromanage her every step of the way and actually got to relax in my massage chair. My color was gel #269 which was a very lovely coral/ pinkish color perfect for spring. My legs are soft and my aching feet were massaged back to life. For $5, I opted to enroll in their membership program, which was the activation fee. Made an appointment for 2 for pedicures. Arrived early, they had us sit down only for one of us to begin pedicure. At same time another guest arrived who they knew and tech immediately sat her down after us and came over to say "one of the girls is running late, can I wait a few minutes" And proceeded to take care of that guest. 30 minutes later , no additional tech arrived. This was my first time here, and will be my last. Obviously this was intended as a couples experience post valentines and despite making an appointment & arriving early , clearly this is a place you must know someone to get proper treatment . I had a 6 PM appointment at my usual nail salon (the one I've reviewed before), but I happened to arrive around 5 PM and figured I'd just wait. When I walked in, it was absolute chaos--completely packed and clearly understaffed. I immediately had a feeling there was no way they'd be able to take me at my scheduled time. That's when I remembered a different nail salon I'd seen nearby and decided to take a walk to check it out--and I am SO glad I did. From the moment I walked in, I was blown away. The space was absolutely gorgeous--immaculately clean, beautifully designed, and so calm and professional. Honestly, it felt like a "too good to be true" moment... but turns out, it was that good! I asked the salon manager if they could fit me in for a pedicure and nail service, and she immediately said yes, of course. I ended up getting one of the best pedicures of my life--no exaggeration. Amy was my nail tech, and she was phenomenal: attentive, gentle, and detail-oriented. I had originally planned to remove my SNS tips and redo SNS on my natural nails, but because my nails were still too short, the salon manager kindly suggested going with gel polish instead. It was a great recommendation and exactly what I needed. Personally I think Latoue is the best nail salon in Bay Ridge. Latoue is very clean and tools are freshly disinfected before use. The color selection is excellent for both regular polish and gel. I like that the salon is quiet with no TVs flashing and only appropriately low volume spa music. I made an appointment for a Saturday at 2:45 and after choosing my color was seated promptly. The pedicure was so relaxing I almost dozed off. The manicurist adds gel beads (?) to the water so your feet are swimming in a squishy; luxurious pool of warmth. After the pedicure I had a gel manicure. Helen, my manicurist today was keen to detail and made sure I was happy with the nail shape and color along the way. She gave her perfessional opinion when I asked and was efficient without rushing. I took a picture of this bottle color because I loved it so much (Essie gel in #15 "well collectected.") I had the most wonderful experience at this salon. Im extremely appreciative of how serious they are about keeping their customers and themselves safe ! My shoes were sprayed down, I was asked to sanitize and my temperature was taken. There are clear barriers all over for separation and mats to place our shoes while getting a pedicure . And wow ! Every time a customer left the chair; every part of the area was sanitized and thoroughly wiped down. Pedicure : I got a standard pedicure which included orange jelly , amazing foot care and a nice massage. May was my nail technician . She took her time and gave extra care to my cuticles which I find to be very rare In salons . It didn't feel rushed and I enjoyed every minute of the pedicure. Gel manicure : Jennifer did my manicure although she did say that she specializes in acrylic and longer nails, I was extremely happy with how she took care of me. She provided my service with a sterile set of tools and gloves to protect my hands from the UV light . She took her time, was very neat, gave my cuticles some extra love and made great suggestions to what would look nicer on me. I trusted her advice and I couldn't be any happier. Oh and the shoulder rub while my nails were drying was AMAZING ! I signed up for a membership which is 1 point every dollar you spend. Then you get rewards like a free gel mani ! This is one of my go-to salons! I've been coming here for about 3 ish years and I'm still very satisfied with the quality and service. The salon is very cute, clean and always has a calm relaxing playlist on. They used to offer water and hot tea pre covid. The employees are always polite and they do an amazing gel mani. I have gotten a powder manicure here once but it was not so great, so i just stick to either regular gel or plain polish when i come here. My nails always come out looking exactly how i want, and sometimes better! Ive also gotten gel tips/extensions done here and they did such a great job, however it was very pricey. Been a loyal customer for over a year and it's finally time to leave some feedback! Like some others have mentioned, this salon is settled on a higher budget ($33 for a gel manicure and $20 for a pedicure - what I generally do) but despite that the quality definitely pays off. My gel manicure always last at LEAST 2 weeks, and at most 1 month. Do realize not every color will What I like about this salon: very clean, large selection of colors for gel, the technicians use new packets of utensils, jelly foot bath for pedicure, and my selected technician is always precise and detail oriented! I was always super picky about my nails and one of my biggest pet peeves is crooked nails/nail polish on my skin. As a long time customer I've experienced many technicians here and some did not deliver the quality I expected.. but so what? That didn't stop me from coming back. Try another technician, not everyone is perfect. My favorite technician is Michelle and I always make my appointments with her. However if she's not available I would choose from Jo, Jennifer, Olivia, or Amanda base on availability. Lastly, I highly recommend you to make an appointment. I never show up without making one because its ALWAYS busy. Sometimes I call and reserve a slot for the very same day.. it's that easy!! Otherwise, do expect up to a hour wait (or even 2 hours if super busy) if you walk in. I had such high hopes here. Got the green tea pedicure which was just okay, not worth $49! The foot mask made me cringe as they put plastic over your feet and into this heated pad. Blah! The 10 minute reflexology was not great, the technician stayed in the same spot on my foot nearly the whole time. I also got SNS dip powder that I am so so sadly disappointed with. I told the technician immediately before we started, "I have not had good experiences in the past with dip powder, because I like my nails natural and thin" she assured me there would be no problem and understood that I don't want my nails thick and I want the powder thin. Well, 2 hours later, sure enough my nails are bulky and super thick. When she asked me if I liked them I told her "the polish is pretty but no they are way too thick" and her response was "I only did 4 coats, it's not thick". She was meticulous in her work and This place is SO clean, the cleanest I've ever seen a nail salon but I will NOT come back here for nails. $100 down the drain. Good but not great. I love how clean it is and whatever they put in the water during a pedicure is so cool! I went 1/16/22 for a regular mani-pedi. I went here on my birthday as a treat. the staff wasn't the most friendly or chatty but they're not native english speakers so I can understand if they didn't feel uncomfortable making conversation with me (I asked them questions about themselves and tried to make them feel comfortable...even tho i'm the customer, i'm a person and can empathize with social anxiety). i'm saying all this to point out that I'm okay with the staff not chatting with me. what i'm NOT okay with was being made to feel unwelcome and like a nuisance for asking questions pertaining to my nails. the girl who specifically did my sns manicure was nice enough but clearly was new and didn't know what they were doing. I noticed she kept asking for directions from older, more experienced technicians. the real problem I had with this was how long I ended spending at this salon (approx. 2.5 hours??? come on! a couple of separate groups of white women came in after me, got mani's AND pedi's, and left before me and got way better service and treatment from the staff ) I had to cancel plans my sweet friends made for my bday because I was in the salon so long, which isn't the end of the world, but was the salt in the gaping wound of this shitty salon experience I had. ALSO! for nails that took over 2 hours to do, they lasted me less than a week before half of them broke. i've never had this experience with sns powder prior to this from other nail salons (even the ones that are less expensive and way less bougie). they usually last me 3-4 weeks. I eventually had to cut all my nails myself so they'd be somewhat even. overall, i'm bummed out that I paid all this money (plus tip bc you KNOW they'll talk shit about brown + black ppl if we don't tip even tho they did the least to earn our hard earned money) to make myself feel better about this shit year, only to be treated like a second class citizen and receive second class service on my own fucking bday. thanks latoue next time, i'd rather just go to a nail salon that treats me like a person tho read more

Went to this mail salon recently to get a full set of artificial gel tips put on. I was sick of having stubby unattractive hands with nails that are brittle and don't grow long enough to even get tape to peel back. The girl who did the set did a great job. She told me not to wait longer than two weeks for a refill! The set cost $90 plus a 20% tip is recommended. I am a chef, so I am constantly washing my hands and changing gloves. Within 3 days, 4 nails broke. I went back early on a Thursday to get them fixed. They told me they were fully booked and the girl who does tips was not in that day. I asked if anyone else could do tips. They told me, no! No one else is trained to do tips. And the lady that was there had an appointment and if I could come back in 3 hours. Given that this was my one day off before a Busy weekend I could not go back to work with 4 nails missing even though my hands would be in gloves and no one would be seeing them. It just erked me that within three days, 4 nails broke. It's not like I am in construction. I said well I don't want to go anywhere else because they should not have come off so easily within only two days. One of the ladies said they could fix them. She had 10 min. I said well I don't want a rushed job, I would rather wait to come back as long as they honored that I had just spent $108.88 on a set of nails, 4 days prior. The lady who said she would fix them told me my mail beds were too small to hold tips and this is why they came off so soon. I replied, I wish they had told me that prior to my getting the full set, as I had asked this question, before I got them. The girl reassured me gel would stay on better than acrylic. She also said the reason they burned my fingers when they were applied was because my nails are very weak and it seems as though I lack the vitamins to have strong nails. Again something that was not told to me before I got the full set. The 4 nails were applied within 5 minutes total. They were done in a completely different way than the previous 10. After having started the process she informed me she did not learn to do the gel nails I received and would be doing the "quick fix" method, since the lady who did my full set was not in on this day. Within hours of getting the fixed 4 nails, without picking or heavy hand work, the "gel nail layer" caught on my jacket and half ripped off. I then called and made another fix appointment.. which I never made it to, because I was in and out of the ER the next few days. (None nail related). After much stress and "not enough Vitamins" all of the $108.88 set of nails came off, less then a week. The only positive thing I can say about this place is, they are the MOST CLEAN, MOST efficient at checking temps and keeping track of every single person who comes in, having the customer write their name, date they came in, and time. Then their temp is checked and the customer is shown their temp, to then also write this down next to their name date and time of visit! Before coming in to pick out a color or wait in the waiting area, they spray the bottom of each shoe with alcohol. And give each hand a squirt of hand sanitizer! They have plexiglass set up between tech And customer, plus between customer and customer between each chair. If your getting a pedi, shower curtains are between you and the tech with a space cut at the bottom for your feet to go through. Very very efficient for sure recommended as the SAFEST place to go in Bay Ridge Brooklyn for nail service. read more

Love this place. Everyone here is extremely friendly and sweet and I have ALWAYS had a positive, calming and pleasant experience here, regardless of the service provided or the person providing it. But this is once fancy shmancy spa I actually feel comfortable in. And, for the most part, customers are respectful of the quiet ambience of the space. This is a nice touch when you just want to relax and enjoy the experience. I'm a fidgety jerk who has a tendency to ruin every manicure I've ever had so I usually ask to have my manicure done before the pedicure. this is the first place that doesn't give me shit for such an odd request (I still don't understand why more people don't do so-especially in the summer when you can walk out in flip flops without losing toes to frostbite). To preface, the service I purchased was the $50 deal for color gel manicure + pedicure. I chose OPI's Big Apple Red (be aware that Big Apple Red is brighter in its gel version than it is in it's regular version). The services here are somewhat more expensive than those of the neighboring salons, but I find the exemplary customer service, as well as the work to be worth the price. My nail technician Nicole (who was a total sweetheart) was very attentive and detail oriented. We started with the pedicure; she asked if I would like something to drink but I declined. I observed the massage chairs and foot bath area to be clean and in working condition. Additionally, all tools used were sanitized. Their specialty, the jelly soak, was a complete delight. I watched as Nicole emptied the packets of green powder into my foot bath...to be honest, I wasn't expecting it to be a big deal but it was so relaxing, so it's definitely an experience I'd recommend. Nicole took her time with my pedicure, and asked for my preferences every step of the way, constantly checking if things were satisfactory to me. Afterwards, Nicole lead me to her work station where she trimmed and filed my (fairly gross) nails. We chatted about the salon, how work was for her, what I did for work, etc. The usual. She was very calm, polite, and sweet. She also took care of my raggedy cuticles and essentially made them presentable again. I did not feel rushed at all, and she didn't try to push any additional services onto me, which I appreciated. The color gel manicure came out great, you can refer to the photo I posted. I really like this place! My first time here. I've been to a few of the highly rated nail spa's in Bayridge and I'm a regular at Mimi's but I like the ambience here a lot. They served me green tea, and the pedicure includes those jelly spa things that most spa pedicure includes. The only thing that they do not do but Mimi does is the parafin on the heels of the feet. I saw someone doing a gel mani and they provide gloves to protect customer's hands from the UV rays. They are a little bit more pricey but given the ambience and service, I thought it was worth it. I usually go to a salon not too far away from this one but my last experience as a customer there made me want to find a new salon. I was pleasantly surprised by the jelly foot bath when I came in for a mani-pedi. It's a little more than what I'm used to paying ($30 for mani-pedi) but for the overall experience I think it's a nice little splurge for myself. Here's what I liked: -THE YELLOW MUSHY JELLY FOOT BATH! -very clean -nice salon appearance -relatively large space -reminded me of a Manhattan version of a nice nail salon in Bay ridge What I didn't like: -The woman who did my nails didn't really fix one of them even when she saw it smudged. She just added another coat on top and you could still see the smudged polish. But hey 19 out of 20 isn't too bad. -she made two fingers bleed when she was doing my cuticles. :( -when i went to dry my nails, my mini shoulder massage was about 10-15 seconds long. I'm giving this place a one star for one simple reason. This happens to be my favorite nail salon in all of bay ridge. It makes you feel classy and as soon as you come in you feel fancy and taken care of right away - with or without an appointment. There may be wait sometimes but what salon doesn't. I moved away last year and have not been able to visit due to distant. But I went out of my route today to my favorite salon and get my nails done by the girls here. I arrive at 1pm and I am told to sit and wait - not a problem. It's Sunday afternoon they are busy. They leave me sitting for 15 minutes sitting only to tell me they can't take me in because at 1:30 they will have 5 appointments and they can't see me until later. I ask what time is a better time, they advise later anytime. Okay - later can be 2:00 pm but there's obviously not enough staff if five clients are coming and you can't take me 15 minutes prior. A lot could be done in 15 minutes but obviously not today. I'm asked if I want to schedule something - I say no. At this point I have a bad taste in my mouth I can go elsewhere. I feel disappointed by this as someone who used to love coming to the salon and now is being pushed out the door without a better resolution. This was a salon I've always enjoyed. It's the type of classy salon you'd find in the heart of the city but it's in the wonderful town of bay ridge instead. The nails always come out perfect. Massages done in private and the girls are always friendly. Well done May! May did my eye brows and gel manicure and it was flawless! The eye brows turned out natural and beautiful- it was a painless procedure and done within minutes! One look at the mirror and I knew it was done right. As for the gel manicure, May was patient enough to go through my top 4 color choices. Due to some restrictions at work, I have to carefully pick a nail polish that is work approved. She took the time to show me how each color looked like on her nails. I was very satisfied with the outcome when my nails were done. The place looked neat, elegant and clean. I was told they "couldn't see me" and it would be "over an hour wait" so when I offered to sit down and wait, put my name in and/or come back in an hour I was told they do not take appointments for a regular manicure Friday - Sunday. WTF is that sh*t? To me it shows that they only value higher-paying customers over all others which is unfortunate. Last I checked, you should NEVER turn away business for any reason. My absolute favorite nail salon! I have been going here for over 4 years now. I have tried many nail salons and none of them can even compare to this one. It is on the pricey side but remember that it will be worth it. A gel manicure lasts longer than 2 weeks in most cases and the regular pedicure can last up to one month. I grew tired of the chaos, and sometimes less than stellar cleanliness, of other salons and I gave Latoue another chance. They definitely redeemed themselves. Latoue is clean and runs efficiently (call before you go, they will honestly and appropriately turn you away if they are too busy). The staff are all competent and some of them are actually stellar. I am now ok with their quiet. The polish is high quality and it lasts. My cuticles stay well maintained long after the polish comes off. Truly as good as it gets. read more

CONSISTENT. The salon checks all my boxes. -Extremely clean -Well maintained -Current Polishes -Large variety of colors -Grade A staff I have never had anything less than a perfect mani pedi. I'm a little confused as to why this place has such great reviews. I came here because it had almost five stars. But too many things went wrong. When I walked in and showed her a picture on Yelp of something they've done for someone here before, first she said you could only do it in gel. However, there's another picture of the same manicure done with regular polish....so doing it in regular polish is possible. Lies! She told me the wait was an hour...yet two girls were almost done with their manicure and there was no one else waiting before me. Meanwhile anyone who came after me the wait was 20 minutes..weird. 3. Paid forty bucks for a sloppy French. Pics posted, but doesn't capture how uneven it actually is. Should have been pristine for these prices. Kept having to point out spots she messed up so she could fix it. 4. It appears clean, but I noticed they'll use a piece of tissue or cotton and wipe ur nails with it, and then keep getting more remover by tapping the top with the same tissue. Gross. My toe germs are now all over one of those bottles. Although they take walk ins, maybe they are nicer if you make an appointment before you come.
