My sister and I went for pedicures and full sets. Well, we did not get the full sets. We walked in on a Saturday, so expected a wait, no bigge, but it was the worst pedi ever. First, we were GIVEN basic pedicures, not an option to choose a spa pedicure and asked to select a scent like most places. But the guest next to me was given an option. The guy attempted to be very meticulous on painting my toes, but ultimately, he took forever for a barely decent job and he didn't paint all of my pinky toe nails, and I was left with most of the paraffin wax still on my shoes and feet. I had to take one of the tools and remove the excess lotipn from nail bed and under the nails to show him what he missed! They did such a bad job that they didn't charge me for my pedi. We went elsewhere for nails. They had several clientele that seemed to be regulars so it seems as they cater more towards appointments than walk-ins. Won't be back there. read more

I hate to leave negative reviews, but I'm so disappointed in Lovely Rose. More than one person in Bay Ridge told me to ask for Jason for my nail art needs (he's famous in the neighborhood!). I called and asked for Jason for an appointment but was told his schedule is full for the whole week. Ok, no problem. I said I'll take anyone else who can do simple nail art. Yes, they said! Come on in. I came at 4 PM on a Wednesday. There were only 2 other people in the salon and it was very quiet. As soon as I sat down, I asked the manicurist if she could do the design I showed her a picture of (French tips with opal white instead of plain white). She said no problem and took a photo of my photo with her own phone and sent it to someone. She removed my powder gel fine and shaped my nails as I requested. Then comes time for the painting! I asked for powder gel and asked if the French tips would be UV gel, she said yes. Then she leaves and I'm greeted by another manicurist. I ask her if she is comfortable with the design I show her a picture, she said yes no problem. I say great! She begins using white to draw my French and I ask if she has Pearl white instead of regular white like the picture shows. She said she would do the pearl afterwards. When it comes time for the pearl white, she uses a multicolored glittery color that has no resemblance to the photo I showed. It is seemingly yellow from the angle I was looking at it. Eek! She asked if I liked it and I said it's not like the photo at all, that it's rainbow not pearly white. She told me they don't have the pearly white color. I said to keep the white then, although I definately would have asked for baby pink tips if I knew pearly white wasn't an option. I'm not sure why they didn't tell me they don't have pearly white as an option so I could request another design. I was so frustrated that I showed the photo to 2 people and they both said they could do the design no problem. I walked out with a French manicure that I did not like the look of and was so unhappy. It has been 3 days and now 4 of my nails have chipped on the white tips (just as other reviewers have said). I am shocked and honestly just frustrated I have to spend another $50 somewhere else to replace the brand new manicure I have now. read more

I arrived knowing what I wanted, then I was having second thoughts. I asked them for their opinion and went with what they thought it was best. horrible honestly, my nails lasted exactly only 2 weeks and were very week. Took almost 2 hours on a super short set with no details. My go to spot for mani/pedi in bay ridge! They're great at regular manis, gel manis, acrylics, and pedicures. I've had my nails last so much longer and look great without having to come in and fix them all the time. I've been doing acrylics with Jason for a while and he always does the best job. He does them relatively fast but always at an A+ job. I can go in for a fill and gel coat with design and be out in an hour! Updated review for covid era: haven't gotten my nails done since March. I called ahead for an appointment and when I arrived it was not busy (me and another customer + 3 employees). I stopped by on a weekday at around 4PM. I got sat down right away, but it took the person approximately 20 minutes to get started on me. She was honestly just walking around and doing busy work, so I was already annoyed. During the pedicure, she walked around and constantly talked to other workers. Maybe she was the manager or boss, but I felt that all the time she took in between just prepping my nails would make my time at the salon much faster. At 5pm, I had to opt for a gel pedicure because she didn't even get started on the regular polish yet. But I was finished at 5:30PM, which is really bad considering it was a gel pedi with no need to dry. Now less than a week later, my gel polish chipped. Gel polish should last at least 3 weeks. Other places that I have been to, a regular pedi lasts 2/3 weeks without chipping. I expected more from this place, but I am disappointed. read more

They get really busy here so be sure to make a reservation ahead of time, especially on the weekends. I came here specifically for nail art as my friend highly recommended this place. I was not disappointed at all as Jason is super talented and has a great attention for detail. He did my manicure while I had Kiki do my pedicure. I've been going back to her ever since because she too was very patient and didn't rush through the process. Both Jason and Kiki make sure you like results before you leave. Usually I love going here. But my last interaction was terrible. I called and made an appointment and they sat me for 30 minutes with no one working on my nails. I only had four acrylics left to remove and she basically ripped them off to the point where it was painful & she even saw it on my face. I was then the last client in the nail spa almost 15 minutes since they should have been closed. I felt rushed and treated like complete crap by them. Will NOT be returning even though I have been going for awhile now. I rather travel further to have people who care about the work they do and their clients. Very upsetting. Lovely Rose Nail Salon is under new management and I couldn't be happier for the changes being made. Have the prices gone up? Yes, but it's not Manhattan or Spa prices. The changes are reasonable. I do miss the gel pods they use when giving a pedicure and I hope they bring it back. Recently they changed the pedicure chairs and sinks. They also rearranged the chairs and table and have made it more open and easier to get around. (See photos). I really like manicure chairs which have better back support and have added hooks to the tables so that you can hang your purse or bag on them. Perfect! Jason is open to ideas, advice and is always asking customers what can he do to make it a better experience. I appreciate that so much. I've posted photos here before but am finally taking the time to write a review. I come here all the time to get acrylics refilled and redesigned by Jason and he always goes above and beyond. He makes sure all my nails are shaped exactly how I ask and that they are even. He also does designs beautifully and I'm always getting complimented on my nails! You can tell he really puts the effort and care into detail and will always check to make sure I'm happy with my nails before I leave. As for the salon itself it's very clean and aesthetically pleasing to the eye. They have a great selection of colors and have pretty much anything you could want in regular or gel. Their prices are also great given the quality of their work. My acrylics last longer here than they have from any other nail salon. I'm so glad I've finally found a nail salon I could return to regularly. read more

The staff was really friendly and they worked with me to get the color I wanted but I will not return. Price: I got a gel pedi and mani and it was around $70. I was optimistic about this place based on the reviews, however, the moment I stepped in, the entire salon reeked of nail polish remover. I understand that it's a nail salon, but the smell was so pungent, I almost left upon walking in. I came in around 6 so maybe the staff was trying to leave but while I was getting my pedi, another nail tech was working on my nails causing me to have to turn my body to the right the entire time. I think I've found my new nail spot! First time I came here I had a pedicure and color gel done and the lady did a really nice job. She took her time and didn't rush through. I asked her if she could do the marble design on one finger she said yes. She attempted but couldn't do it so I opted for a different design I was a little disappointed because the marble design is what I wanted from the beginning. She apologized for it and didn't charge me for the design she did and it made up for it. Talk about great customer service! I was happy in the end. (I forgot to ask her for her name but do remember her by face) So today I went in for a color gel and Jason took me even though he was really busy. He's the one that can do more intricate designs. I came around 3:30PM on a Sunday with no appointment. They were busy at the moment so they told me it'd be a 30 minute wait. I came back at 4 and was seated but waited about another 20-25 minutes after my old polish was removed. I didn't mind as I didn't make an appointment and they were still very accommodating considering that they were closing early that day as well. They took my temperature before seating me and sanitized my hands as well. The salon itself is very clean. It's nice to see that they are taking COVID precautions seriously. I asked for an acrylic set. They are very meticulous with their work and made sure the shape and length were to my liking before continuing. The nail art was exactly like the photo I showed them. It probably took about an hour and half in total. The price was $75 and I tipped them $20 on top of that. Was going to make this my go to salon but after my last visit i'm def not going back. Went twice and both times they've been able to get a great shape which most salons always mess up. Pedicure was great as well. Don't know if it's the quality of the base, activator or other product used though, my dip powder nails started to lift after only a week. Other salons that I had dip powder done last 3-5 weeks without lifting. One of my index nails that started lifting after a week broke after a few more days in the weirdest way (pic) so I went back to have it fixed. Jason took a look at my nail and said "are you sure you got it done here?" In the rudest tone. Obviously I did or I wouldn't come back for the fix! I've been coming here for about a year now, & never had an issue up until today. I got my nails done LAST Saturday, & ONE of them broke. First of all that's not supposed to happen, so therefore I called the nail salon so it can be fixed. I showed up & it was fixed...however I was CHARGED‼ $5 ‼ Afterwards... I was very confused Bc I came here a few times with a broken nail & was never charged. Jason would fix me nail and I would be on merry way. NEVER was I charged. I had to write that at the very tippity-top because literally the only kinda con to this place is there's a % surcharge for credit cards (it can be a big fee if you're extra like me and spend $85 on your nails you feel me). BUT AGAIN, literally the only kinda con. For the good parts: this is hands down the best acrylic manicure I have EVER had. I'm originally from SF where rachet acrylic nails will live and breathe til the day I die, and so the reviews for this place (and Jason lol) were on point. Jason actually wasn't able to see me that day, so the other guy nail tech started my full set and he did a wonderful job!! I was so impressed at the amount of detail he put into the shaping. The funny part was that Jason looked at his work, scoffed, and fixed one of them LOL when I already thought they were so perfect. Then, Jason ended up doing the marble nail design I asked for even though he was super busy that day. He has a wonderful eye for detail and nail art, and appreciated his conversation and wonderful service. I'm so used to nail people who charge $60+ for a fill that isn't always quality or cheapies who don't give you what you want and complain about your design.
