No big deal I'll catch up on reading. I had my consultation and she went to work. She gave me a perm and cut. It turned out ok. Not the best I've had but she still did a good job. I told her my goal was to eventually lighten my hair and when should I come back. She told me to book for 2 weeks. I returned and she had bleach put in my hair that she permed 2 weeks prior. Not color but bleach! I didn't know what it was when it was initially being applied by her assistant. I should have walked out when the assistant asked 2x if that was what she wanted to put in my hair without saying what it was. My hair now has thinning and has not grown back healthy as it once was. I spent almost $500 in 2 weeks only to have missing patches of hair that turned to straw. After my service her instructions were to make sure I get my protein treatments. Long story short ALL of my hair started to fall out within a week. By week two I had significant loss. I messaged her and instead of taking responsibility she proceeded by protecting herself by saying "I told you this probably wasn't a good idea." THAT WAS A FLAT OUT LIE! She is the professional why would I tell her what to do after being told it would damage my hair. She told me to book 2 weeks out. Better question is, why would she do it if she knew it wasn't a good idea?! Plain and simple GREED! Yes, I made sure to get a protein treatment but was told my hair was dead and needed to be cut all off. The only reason she was not sued is because of my barber Noah who said I should pray for her and chalk it up to a bad experience. His thought was not to destroy her business or reputation. I tried to let it go. I am all for supporting black businesses but SOME black business owners need to do better. The greed, the attitudes, and the over inflated prices need to be addressed. Rachel basically took my money, destroyed my hair, all with an attitude. I HAVE RECEIPTS SO IF YOU DECIDE TO RESPOND, DO IT HONESTLY.

Diva Styles was the most cleanest salon I've ever been to, I was instantly greeted as I walked in on my first visit by one of the stylist. I was seated, as I sat I looked around this very spacious salon, whom ever did the decor I loved it! This place has a urban but classy vibe to it. They play nice music (that's enjoyable) and again did I mention how clean it was? I was introduced to Natashia, While she was already working on a client head. Natashia was very sweet/ quick and prompt when it came to styling my hair, her associate and I had a good conversation while she shampoo my hair, once I was done shampooing, I was blowed dried out and Natashia begin her amazing process to doing my silk press. Yesterday was my second experience with Abby as my colorist, and I am simply bowled over by how…read moregood she is. I've been to many, many hair dressers, and have never encountered anyone with the excellent instincts that Abby displayed from the very start. Abby granted my wish-- making my very dark-brown, somewhat gray hair SCREAMING purple. Though we had to bleach first, I literally left with healthier hair than I came with. And though she could have charged me a LOT more to do my roots on my second visit, she recommended I wait (to keep my hair healthy) and found a deeper purple shade that I not only loved, but which blends perfectly with my roots. The thing with Abby is that she is not shy about telling you the truth. If she thinks you are about to make a mistake, she will tell you, whether it's picking a hair color that's wrong for your skin tone, a haircut that is unflattering, a process that is not healthy, etc. But this goes the other way too-- she comes up with amazing ideas for her clients that are artistic and creative. For example, I happened to mention that I've always wanted a pixie cut, but my last experience getting one was a disaster (i.e. the stylist didn't listen to me and did what she wanted anyway, which I ended up HATING). Abby got a mischievous glint in her eye and asked if I still wanted to do something like that. After she explained what she had in mind (a modified pixie that would frame my face and work with my natural curl), I was more than convinced. It came out even better than I imagined -- I get compliments on it from friends, family, acquaintances, total strangers, constantly! So, if you're looking for a stylist/colorist that will mindlessly do whatever you ask, take the fastest/easiest route, endlessly tries to shove product at you, and treats you like a number, then DON'T go to Abby. But if you want a talented, warm, hilarious, professional that will take the time to get to know you, understand your wants, needs and challenges, thoroughly explain everything that will happen (risks and benefits) and use every bit of her decades of experience to create a style that will blow your mind, then definitely GO TO ABBY! I promise, you won't regret it!
