** 6/27/16 I have since became a regular here that literally I can say" let's do something new " I'm open to anything" and she will just take over. It's never over the top crazy but it's definitely hair character and I love all my color changes and styles. ** she's opened my eyes to a lot of colors and styles that I thought I'd never be into. Sometimes you just have to trust your stylist and out your doubts from bad experiences behind. She's stuck with me now and it breaks my heart when I can't see her like ASAP ASAP bc I make changes to my hair like I change clothes! Living in Houston and driving all the way to Plano just for hair treatment is definitely my mini therapy ego booster vacation !! read more

Yesterday was my second experience with Abby as my colorist, and I am simply bowled over by how good she is. I've been to many, many hair dressers, and have never encountered anyone with the excellent instincts that Abby displayed from the very start. Abby granted my wish-- making my very dark-brown, somewhat gray hair SCREAMING purple. Though we had to bleach first, I literally left with healthier hair than I came with. And though she could have charged me a LOT more to do my roots on my second visit, she recommended I wait (to keep my hair healthy) and found a deeper purple shade that I not only loved, but which blends perfectly with my roots. The thing with Abby is that she is not shy about telling you the truth. If she thinks you are about to make a mistake, she will tell you, whether it's picking a hair color that's wrong for your skin tone, a haircut that is unflattering, a process that is not healthy, etc. But this goes the other way too-- she comes up with amazing ideas for her clients that are artistic and creative. For example, I happened to mention that I've always wanted a pixie cut, but my last experience getting one was a disaster (i.e. the stylist didn't listen to me and did what she wanted anyway, which I ended up HATING). Abby got a mischievous glint in her eye and asked if I still wanted to do something like that. After she explained what she had in mind (a modified pixie that would frame my face and work with my natural curl), I was more than convinced. It came out even better than I imagined -- I get compliments on it from friends, family, acquaintances, total strangers, constantly! So, if you're looking for a stylist/colorist that will mindlessly do whatever you ask, take the fastest/easiest route, endlessly tries to shove product at you, and treats you like a number, then DON'T go to Abby. But if you want a talented, warm, hilarious, professional that will take the time to get to know you, understand your wants, needs and challenges, thoroughly explain everything that will happen (risks and benefits) and use every bit of her decades of experience to create a style that will blow your mind, then definitely GO TO ABBY! I promise, you won't regret it! read more

I don't trust just anyone with my hair due to bad experiences in the past. But I can reassure you, Abby knows exactly what she's doing and is very knowledgable when it comes to hair!! I absolutely love my hair cut!! She also gave it a very cute shape!! Looks way better than it did when I walked in. I'm trying to grow my hair long, and I can finally say I think I might have found a hair stylist who can help me achieve that!! read more

I LOVED Abby! She is absolutely amazing! She's very knowledgeable and great at what she does. I came in knowing that I wanted a cut and color; I had a cut in mind but didn't know what color to do. I told her I either wanted ombre or full color and she recommended ombre. I trusted her with my hair and I asked her, "What do you think I should do?" and of course I listened to her input and I'm glad that I did! My hair came out great! She has such a great personality; I felt like I've known her for years! She goes above and beyond to make her clients happy. Abby has a lot of passion for what she does and it shows in the results! I'm so happy that I found her; she's a hidden gem! If you're looking for a great hairstylist, I recommend Abby! You won't regret it! read more

Abby is one of the best hairstylists I've been to! I was actually just in town to visit my parents and desperately needed a haircut. I've had short hair (think bob) for much of the past few years and I was trying to grow it out. Sadly, it had grown into this weird uneven mullet-y look. I explained to Abby what I was going for and snip snip snip, she transformed my hair into something that actually looked like it had style. She even offered me some advice on how I can take care of it, curl it, etc. The place itself is very cute. Mattison Avenue Salons is basically like big office-like building with a million individually own suites (of which Abby works in one) that range from hairstyles to nail technicians to massage therapists. Very cute and intimate setting. The haircut and style took about 1 hour and we chit chatted through most of it. I did purchase a Groupon deal, which made the total price around $39. I think her prices for women's cuts start around $50, which is fantastic for the haircut you're going to get! read more

She was absolutely amazing. I have only gotten my hair cut once in the last 7 years and was very nervous to get it cut and colored. She looked at the pictures I brought and did exactly what I wanted. Made me feel very calm and confident! I love it and she has just gained a new regular! read more

I would give Abby 10 stars if I could. She is extremely knowledgable! I am very low maintenance so she worked with me to get the best color. A very infortune experience, I visited this place twice, at the second time my hair was ruined, I was trying to remain blonde and just trying to colour my roots. It was just the day before my Marriage! My hair was burned by the bleach I lost nearly half of my hair, I tried to hide it under the veil, but during the honeymoon people came up to me at the street and told me about my poor hair!!!! It was terrible. After 7 months with the help of real hairdresser and a lot of treatment my hair looks better, but not so much of it left - the new hair should grow up till the previous length, it will take me another 2 and a half years approximately. So if you want to be blonde, you should be aware what you can get from Abby, be careful! read more

Abbey did such an amazing job! I've never had any kind of highlights of ombré before, she was able to figure out what I wanted and execute it flawlessly! I will definitely be going back! read more

ColourTress Hair Studio - Love my new look!! - Hair Stylists Near Me - Plano, Texas

Abby was absolutely fantastic! I have had my hair long and pretty boring for years now, only getting trims because I hadn't found a hair stylist that I really liked and trusted. We started off with a consultation and she was very enthusiastic about what I wanted to do (shorter cut with some layers). I really appreciate when hair stylists will give me their honest opinion on what I should do! I feel like a lot that I have been to don't want to "tell me what to do" and just want to see a picture of what I want. But I am indecisive and honestly not always sure what will look good on me! That's why I'm consulting a professional! I showed Abby some pictures of styles I liked and then described my hair type and asked questions. She gave me lots of great feedback and suggestions. I even told her I'd like to have it colored at a future appointment but wasn't sure exactly how since I need very "low maintenance" hair. She gave me more good suggestions about that, so I am planning a second appointment with her for color. The cut came out great, and I absolutely love how she styled it. Plus she was very reasonably priced (for the Plano area). The salon is nice, and was very easy to find and to park. I am really excited to go back to Abby again! Haven't felt this good about my hair in years! read more

Wonderful! Abby is so personable and patient. I went from dark hair to ombre. She told me it was going to take time, so after the third time I got my desired look. I just love it! read more

I was looking to do ombré on my hair and so I went on my trusty yelp app and typed in ombré hair. ColourTress popped up. I had no idea I was so close to this salon suite! It was easy to find, although the maze inside is a little tricky. Once you find it, it's pretty clear. As always, I was prepared with pictures of what I wanted my hair to look like. I was going for a rose gold ombré look, but of course, being Asian, I can't get that in one sitting. But Abby is great because she works with you until you are satisfied with the end result. I started panicking (in my head of course) because it was lighter than I thought it would be so she put a reddish/pink toner on my hair to darken in. At first I wasn't sure because I was trying to steer away from red (I've done it too many times) but every time I washed it, it got less red and tuned to a pinkish, rose gold color. She told me to come back if I want to lighten the bottom tips of my hair, which was originally what I was going for. I've gotten so many compliments on my hair since the last time, so I wasn't sure I should lighten it again, but I went back today and she worked her magic. She added lighter pieces while still keeping what she did before. I like that she listens to what you want and also recommend options and sound advice. I'm so glad I found this place because I always jump from hair stylist to hair stylist for my hair, but this is somewhere I can go for professional coloring and get what I want. Next summer, I'm going pink! read more

I've been coming to Abby for roughly 3 years. I'm in my 30s and have never found a stylist near as good. She's very professional but also sensitive to her clients wants and needs. She's quick to make recommendations based on her experience and never once let me down. I've tried different stylists and been moderately pleased but Abby always goes above and beyond to make sure her clients are happy. She has a lot of passion for what she does and it shows. She's also a make up artist which is a service I hope to use in the future. If you get the chance to come to Abby, I'm 100% sure you won't be dissatisfied. I highly recommend her services. read more

My hair color was a mess until I found Abby. She brought me back to life and made me love my hair again...seriously! I had been going to a well-known prestigious salon in uptown and realized after their 3rd attempt to get my hair looking the way I wanted (and over a thousand dollars later) that it was time to find a true expert. Abby has a passion for her craft and will take the time to discuss your options and go over pricing before getting started. After she worked her magic, I took one look in the mirror and told her it looked like she had been doing my hair for years. I could not be more impressed! Abby just earned another loyal customer!! Her prices are reasonable and the products she used on my hair were top of the line. I loved being able to book my appointment online and look forward to seeing her smiling face on my next visit. read more

I don't know how she got so many good reviews but it's the reason I went there in the first place. She scalped me, l look like a man and the hair cut looks NOTHING like the picture we picked out. The only good thing I can say is Thank God hair grows! read more

I'm hesitant to leave another rave review for Abby because she's going to be impossible to book in the future! It can't be helped though. It's been almost a year since I last had my hair cut (horrrrrible overpriced experience), but after my appt with her yestetday, I will be a tri-monthly (if that's a thing) regular with Abby from now on. She's an absolute steal! She was sweet, personable, hilarious, knowledgeable, FAST, and did a fantastic job. There's a reason she's a top result when you google "Best Hair Salon Plano". Booking online was super easy, too!! read more

If you need a hairdresser in the Richardson/Plano/Dallas area, you need to go see Abby!! She does it all when it comes to salon services, and she's so sweet & talented at what she does! I've gotten two different kinds of hair extensions done by Abby, as well as a keratin treatment. She listens to what the client wants, and is professional yet laid back. I had such a good time getting my hair done this weekend. She made it an enjoyable experience and my hair looks AMAZING. I highly recommend getting one of her keratin treatments, especially if you're a naturally curly haired girl like me! :) read more

I have to add my praises of Abby. After moving here from California several months ago, I have had one bad experience after another trying to find the perfect hairdresser who actually listens to what you want and does exactly what you ask, NOT what they think is best. I had reached the point of putting a bag over my head because I hated the way my hair had been cut since I have been here. I saw her great Yelp reviews, but was skeptical as I had been burned before with Yelp reviews that did not match my experiences. This time the reviews of her (and there are many and they are all positive) were spot on. She is pleasant and really listens, and is very reasonably priced. And, she gives GREAT haircuts! I am so happy to finally have found my "forever" hairdresser! Please, Abby, NEVER LEAVE! read more

Can I just say how awesome Abby is? I mean, right off the bat we started talking and it really makes the time fly by. On top of that, the haircut I got turned out amazing! I rarely settle for a single hairdresser- I've always tried different people but I really have found THE ONE! Thanks Abby and see you again soon! read more
