I really wanted to love my hair, but I left disappointed. I explained multiple times how my hair lifts, how quickly it processes, and that toner grabs on me almost instantly. Instead of trying the purple shampoo first (which I specifically asked for), she went ahead and toned it anyway. The blonde itself isn't awful, but the overall result is an ashy brown cast that I really didn't want. I just wish I had been heard, because I know how my hair behaves, and that part was ignored. Very disappointing to spend so much $$ before the holidays for such a bad job that now I have to pay more money to have corrected. read more

Absolutely awful experience! I went in for a full hair color, and somehow they expected me to walk out with a botched balayage job--and my roots completely untouched. I made it clear what I wanted done to my hair and even showed inspo pics. Obviously I didn't want roots showing, but the stylist who was consulted by the owner only focused on working on the balayage part. It looked like my hair was half-done and then abandoned. For the amount I paid, I expected at least basic competence. Instead, I got patchy color and zero accountability. Never going back, and I'd strongly suggest you don't either--unless uneven, half-baked hair is your thing. The owner kept saying I never told her to color my grey hairs. Wish I was joking but definitely do your due diligence before coming here. read more

I got my hair done by Hagan about 3 months ago when I was temporarily living in Dallas. I saw her work on Instagram and loved it. I'm now in the process of getting her work fixed by my stylist who quoted me a 10 hour job just to get it to a nice balayage and break up all the unevenness and patches. I debated posting a review and wanted to give her/ the salon a second chance, but even when the second stylist attempted to fix it, it still couldn't be fixed. They refused to give me a refund Im in my home state now and when my stylist and her colleague looked at it, they were horrified at the job tbh. I was honest with Hagan and told her what I'd done in the past, and how I had previous dark brown box dye in it. I thought she'd take all that into account before acting like the color I wanted (a dark brown/burgundy color) was possible and that there would be no chance of being uneven/patchy. hidden gem! went in for a blowout on a whim. immediately got service, was offered a drink, had a nice little cup of earl grey tea, followed by a comfortable trip to the wash station. the sweetheart who took care of me was a great conversationalist! very kind, good humor and not overly chatty after she completed a wonderful blowout, she noticed that some of my bang pieces weren't laying quite right and offered to feather the ends. she used thinning scissors until they did exactly what they should with a nice flounce and drape in a layered swoop. I got checked out at the counter and was in and out in a span of 20 minutes. exactly what I needed for the day and was well worth the ~$40 read more

I booked a simple shampoo and blowout. My appointment was at noon with Chase. She promptly greeted me and took me back to start my shampoo. The shampoo was minimal, at best. She asked how I wanted it to be styled. I showed her a picture of a simple blowout with volume and rounded ends. She started drying my hair. And that was it. No personable conversation or anything at all. Now onto the blowout. I have waist length hair and after she had been drying my hair with a 3/4" round brush for at least 30 minutes without achieving anything like the picture, I had enough. I asked her to use a larger brush. We finally started to get somewhere. When she was finally done, she used her fingers to try to give my hair some volume on top. It only frizzed it up. I was done. I had been there for almost 2 hours. I couldn't sit there any longer. I'm not sure what was worse, her horrible customer service or her lack of skills. I tried to trust the process, but this infuriates me of how bad it is when I got home. It makes more sense for them to bleach my whole hair instead of a partial balayage (very streaky too). Colors are okay but too dark that it kinda blends w/ my black hair since most of my natural hair is covering it. Last photo is what it's supposed to look like or close to. They told me it was close to it which was a lie. First two photos were the same day I got it done. For $300 plus $60 tip, I was definitely scammed for what I received and I demand a refund. Worst part was I had to blow dry my hair at home to see the outcome since I left with my hair very damp/wet. read more

I would do zero stars if i could. I walked in today to do a very simple blowout-waves styled. It took this person 2hours to do what usually takes someone 45mins tops in other salons. Im not sure whether the lady who was doing my hair was having a bad day or what but starting from the hair wash all the way to the end she was extremely tough with how she handled my head/hair. I feel like I have a headache right now. At some point she scratched my face and hair spray went into my eyes. My hair is also probably FRIED from the amount of heat that was applied consistently for 2-freaking-hours. I have very easy to manage straight hair. It does NOT need that much blowdrying power to dry my hair. Now on to the styling, I pointed TWICE at the person in the salon whose hairstyle I wanted to copy. She acknowledged that she heard me but kept trying to make something else out of the hair, which can only be best described as random inconsistent curls of different sizes and lengths while some of my hair was still straight. Whatever she was doing for 2hours was just not working to the point someone else had to come and finish it... and that sweet lady who finally ACTUALLY styled my hair only took 10mins max to do what the first person couldn't do in 2hours. It isn't the style I wanted but it is sure as hell better than whatever was attempted earlier. Please save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else. read more

My appointment was at 5 pm with Tiffany Hagan and by 5:50 she was STILL not ready. They called less than an hour before my appointment and asked, "Would 5:30 or 6 work?" and I said 6 is unfortunately too late. They said, "oh, 5:30 is fine then!" And when I walked in was rudely asked, "Do you have an appointment?!" I proceeded to wait nearly 30 more minutes but I assure you, I wouldn't have waited in person when I declined 6 pm on the phone. This was my first service here and their lack of respect and accountability is unacceptable. I've never encountered this level of unprofessionalism. Please note the misleading statements in the owner's response, "needed those critical minutes (an HOUR)" and "appointed time." My appointed time was 5, period. I was accommodating to 5:30 but turns out that was a blatant lie to get me in the door, unbelievable. Go somewhere more ethical and transparent. This place isn't it. Their response is absurd and untruthful. Business 101 - manage people's expectations and make sure communication is aligned and clear. read more

I tried this salon this week. The stylist was kind and nice to me, however I did not get what I asked for. (See pictures) Maybe wrong choice of technique? I asked for a balayage but she used thin foils that completely blended into my hair, instead of "painting" highlights. My hair is super black and she used foils to a very light bleach but that was too much of contrast so I asked to tone it down a little but even at that, I didn't see much of a difference on the rest or the head... Anyway, I called the next day as soon as they opened and very politely asked to have it redone. They told me yeah sure, and they would call me back. 3pm comes around I call back to follow up - they didn't seem to know I ever called about. Then they called me back saying it was my fault for asking to tone down the highlights. Well, I paid $270 to get a few highlights in the front and a cut. Hope is beautiful, young yet full of wisdom & ambition about the latest trends and proper products to use on each head that walks thru the door. About the salon itself, lovely, modern, and all ladies. No pomp & peacock feathers. Each station has a divider, however, that doesn't stop the fun if one wants to participate. I have gotten my haircut done here once before, they did pretty good. I had a different stylist the second time, and she asked how I wanted my hair cut. I explained to her exactly the type of layers I like, point cutting the ends, and she seemed like she listened and was confident. As I'm watching her cut my hair she absolutely botched it. I asked her several times throughout what she was doing because that isn't what I asked her to do. A 3inch trim with layers turned into a haircut so short it barley covered my shoulders, the worst layers I have ever gotten in my life, I look like I have a mullet, there's absolutely no fixing it without cutting off all of my hair to the top of my ear, which is insulting. She refused to straighten my hair after the cut, which should have been a red flag right there. Coming from a hairdresser, I would never recommend this salon. read more

Maya explained how she could work WITH the color of my grey so that the regrowth would barely be noticeable. I have no idea how the formula works, but the result was consistently beautiful throughout my hair. This is remarkable because the top is a perfect blonde, but the bottom layers in the back are still my natural auburn color. Now my hair care is a single process, takes half the time, is a fraction of the cost I was paying before, and I go every 5-6 weeks. It has been 3 months, and I have not had to get highlights yet, but my hair still LOOKS highlighted. I get a lot more compliments on my hair now, and I could not be happier. As wonderful as Maya is, every person on the A la Mode team is a gifted artist. I love Mirela for styling. She is also my favorite for shampoo and scalp massage.
