I recently broke up with my hair stylist after 5 years together. I needed to do it a while ago, but you know how hard that is. Anyway, I was looking for someone with great reviews and someone who was convenient either to my house or to work. Jacki checked both boxes. In fact, she's just a 5-min walk from my office. And she's obviously very popular, because it's about a 2 week wait to get an appointment. But that 2 week wait is totally worth it. Absolutely and totally worth it. Jacki is friendly and makes you feel at ease straight away. She's easy to talk to - no struggling to find things to talk about. And it's also ok with her to sit and be quiet, too. But even better is the process of getting a cut. Before she starts anything, she listens to what you want to do - your hair struggles and the realities of your life (for me, that means 10 min to do my hair, tops). She asks questions. She feels your hair's texture and shape and asks more questions. Only then do you go back to shampoo and back to cut. The final result was great. Jacki is amazing! She is the owner of The Hair Parlour. My previous stylist moved away so I've been bouncing around...well I got the itch to get my hair cut and was impatient and went to an ULTA Salon. Worst decision ever. When I tell you my two year old could have cut my hair better, I'm not exaggerating. It was a complete hack job, the stylist (shouldn't even be called that) did not even blow dry or style my hair and still charged me $70. Jacki took me in the same day and worked MAGIC. I don't even know how she was able to fix it to be honest. She washed my hair (previous style left so much oil in it it still looked wet when Jacki dried it for me. So she dried it, straighter it to see the damage, re-washed it for me, dried it again, straightened it again and then fixed and cut my hair. All for the same price of the hack job. Her and everyone in the salon were SO sweet, supportive and friendly. Jacki was my LIFE SAVER. I can not say enough good things about her and my experience. My husband surprised me and booked my hair appt with Jacki. He knows that ive been reading all her yelp reviews and everyone is raving about how good she is. He made sure that Jacki will be doing my hair and ladies she is really great in what she does! Because of that there is a long wait for any appointments because she is simply booked and everyone wants her! First time I met her during my appt this past june she right away reminded me of one of my girlfriends in Cali. She is just very friendly and will tell you exactly what your hair may need. The prices are a bit high but you are getting what you paid for. From her services, her knowledge on what she does and her very positive vibes made it all worth it. I hardly write reviews here on Yelp and its always when I feel very happy or sad about my experience. I'm happy to report that I was beyond happy with my first hair appointment with Jacki. Jacki was awesome! I came in with super damaged hair with no idea what I wanted...just that I wanted it healthy. She suggested a long bob and it came out gorgeous! It's been over a year since I've had hair this healthy and soft. She took the time to listen to my hair issues and made suggestions based off of what I gave very generic descriptions to. I'm glad that I came to her. The price is reasonable. $50 for a women's haircut is not bad in my book especially since it comes with shampoo and hairstyling! I don't like giving bad reviews this is actually my first ever. I initially came because I wanted my hair light brown and as another reviewer said on here... I ended up with something totally different from the picture I showed them. I ended up with highlights. I'm not a fan of highlights at all. I initially paid for $230 but apparently my hair is "thick" which I've never heard of, in fact people say my hair is thin. Anyways I ended up paying $300! Because they had to add more product, they never told me beforehand if they added more product they would charge me more. They did try to fix it but the top of my hair looked black lol anyways I paid for highlights I never wanted. read more

From the handful of pictures on my phone she was able to get an idea of the cut I wanted and executed it perfectly. She also gave me some lazy girl styling tips for my super fine hair because if it takes more than 3 products to get voluminous hair I probably just won't do it. I was in a need for a next day hair wash/blow dry around my work. I found Jacki's place with all the great reviews so I decided to give it a try. I reached out to Jackie on yelp the night before and she was able to take me the next day at lunch time. It was convenient to book the appointment. She had me booked with Claudia; her assistant. While Claudia is very sweet and nice, I was disappointed with both the hair wash and the blow dry. She was not thorough with my hair wash and did not scrub/rub the back of my head. As for the blow dry itself, it felt more like a hair drying. I did not get the smooth finish on my hair. She also struggled to get me the curls I asked for even though my hair is curly and holds curls very well. Price was reasonable for a blow dry if I felt like I got one. I left the place feeling that I need to rewash my hair to get it probably cleaned and style it again as I did not get the blow dry affect I was looking for. While I wanted to like this place due to it being close to work, I don't think I'll go back. read more

I went in for a root touch up which was I think $60 at the time on the website, she mixed the color and everything and I confirmed the touch up was only $60 but she said no and added an extra $100 to it cause she MIGHT have to add a toner. I felt very deceived and it was obvious she only cared about the money. Then she gave me MAJOR attitude and said she had already mixed the color so I HAD to get my hair done! ridiculous. So thankful to Jacki for my awesome cut + bleaching/highlights. She was gracious enough to squeeze me in for an appointment before I went out of town after New Years. It's hard to find a stylist that can work well with my Asian thick and dark hair. I went in for my appointment, and she started out by asking for what my vision was, and seemed pretty confident that she could do it. The dye ended up being exactly what I hoped for, and I left feeling like my hair was actually healthier than what I started with. The salon itself is super cute with a nice rustic vibe going on. It was my first time at this salon and I am transitioning from brunette to blonde and was expecting to not achieve my desired colored-so totally okay! But during my appointment, 4 other clients came in while she was finishing my hair and I didn't feel like a priority! Normally I don't mind, things happen, but I felt like towards the end she was just trying to get me out of the salon. My hair cut is a tad uneven and I asked about purchasing salon products from her and she didn't introduce any products to me before I left! I initially came here because of the positive reviews. I'm sure the owner does a wonderful job with cut and color, unfortunately the stylist she hired did not. I came In wanting a simple cut with layers and left with my hair cut extremely short and no layers. When I pointed out that my hair was not layered and I wanted it to look similar to another stylist that was present, the stylist said that the texture of my hair was different and layers would not look the same on her as me. I have had my hair layered by other professionals in the past and was confused by this comment. My advice is to make sure that you are scheduled with a more experienced hairstylist. read more
