I've tried giving this salon several chances, but my most recent visit was unfortunately very disappointing. Shelby showed me a color idea -- a rich, darker chocolate brown -- and I trusted her recommendation. However, the end result was nothing like what was discussed. My hair came out much lighter, with noticeable yellow and orange tones, and several areas where my grays were still visible. I left feeling really upset and had to find another salon to fix the color. Based on this experience, I wouldn't recommend Shelby for coloring services, though she does a great job with haircuts and styling. Hair is slightly subjective and techniques can vary. One thing that is NOT subjective is customer service and this hair salon has let me down in a multitude of ways. I called to book a service to bleach/lighten half of my pixie haircut. It was an existing style that was last serviced in November & I was needing my roots brought back to blonde. Daniel was the stylist my service was scheduled with. When I was brought back to the chair I had explained I wanted the blonde brought back up & I was okay with a ~little~ bit of natural root so when it grew back out it wasn't such an immediate contrast. I expressed very clearly I want it all blonde, I was happy with the existing style. The grown out version was a solid block of blonde - very clearly no brunette in sight. Daniel said he wanted to add dimension into the roots, I had no idea what that meant & it wasn't explained. He said having some of the natural color will "make the blonde look blonder" and I can't have darker roots without leaving the natural brunette. I was very hesitant & told him I want as much blonde as possible. That was the extent of the consultation. He was dead quiet from then on - and truthfully I don't mind if someone works diligently at their craft & I have the ability to relax. However once the service was all done & I was anticipating my birthday bombshell blonde only to be completely gutted and left with a streaky mess that gave me high school circa 2005 vibes. Was there blonde? Sure. Was the hair in good health? Yeah. Was it what I had said I wanted & a reflection of the style I had walked in with? Absolutely Not! I expressed this was not AT ALL what I wanted. It wasn't even a smidge similar to the style I had walked in with! And immediately a switch clicked - "well what do you want to do about it? You were scheduled for a dimensional color & that's what I gave you. There's nothing I can do today. Come to the front" like okay... way to really use those listening skills. The front desk was nice enough to listen - told me I could come in the next day to fix it free of charge. Then I get a call from a supervisor whom halfway through my retelling proceeds to cut me off & mention that I was scheduled for a dimensional color but I needed a platinum card & she could look for a time in the schedule that would accommodate that service & I would pay the additional difference. That's where I just lost it. So first of all - don't TELL me I need to be a licensed cosmetologist & educated in the exact terminology to book a service with your salon - that's what I'm paying a professional for & there's a reason for a consultation in the chair before the service begins. He gave me the impression he understood exactly what I was communicating & what I wanted. If the service scheduled & what I was asking for were two different things - he could've asked for a photo reference for clarity or told me the price difference from the beginning & avoided this whole thing. Also no where on their services does it even offer an option to schedule a "platinum card" so come on now. Second of all - to tell me that I would need to spend another additional afternoon then spend additional money at the salon to then fix a problem that was their staff's inability to listen attentively to what I was needing & requested was ridiculous. I asked for the owner call me after getting heated on the phone with the supervisor because the woman was being dismissive and not understanding in the very least / here we are now over 24hrs after the fact and still have not heard word. Even after following up with the front desk the same day & being told I would hear from the owner mid day the following afternoon. It's now 5:00 & I have yet to hear a word. In conclusion the lack of understanding, empathy or even compassion from this salon goes far beyond what was anticipated. And at the very end I'm still left with a very bad dye job, having to scramble to hopefully salvage my birthday hair elsewhere and $200 worth of streaky hair down the drain. read more

Two words...Sarah Rose! Hands-down the best stylist I have ever had. She always does a phenomenal job on my hair, on top of being super friendly and awesome and fun to hang out with while you get your hair done. You will never have any awkward conversation in her chair, that's for sure. The salon itself is really nice inside. They have a good selection of product including Oribe that you can buy, And plenty of space so that you do not feel crammed into a small area. I have seen some really great looking hair come out of that place when I have been there. I would guess most of their stylists are well trained, especially in color and I see a lot of extensions there. Everyone always looks amazing when they leave. So unfortunate. Masoodah had been cutting and coloring my hair for roughly a year and a half and this will be the last time. Previously, her prices were above average for the services received but always in line with what she had listed and she always did a good enough job. Her services have always been sufficient but she was not someone I would recommend to my friends as a top notch stylist. This last appointment was a disaster on all accounts. In addition to my normal cut and color, I reserved time for a formal style/updo for a gala I was attending the same day. I communicated with Masoodah via text before the appointment letting her know exactly what I wanted including sending her a picture of the formal style I wanted done. I confirmed that the amount of time I had booked was enough time to get everything done and she assured me it was. I needed to leave promptly at 3:30 pm to get to another appointment I had scheduled for my makeup. At 3:15 pm I texted my husband in complete frustration that Masoodah just finished rinsing the color out of my hair and had not started drying, cutting, or styling it. When I asked her if she was almost finished she seems surprised that I had to leave in 15 minutes. She quickly dried and cut my hair and spent less that 10 minutes curling and pinning up my hair. I had asked her about the braided sides in the picture I sent and pulled it up for reference and she replied to me that she does not do braids. 1. What kind of stylist can't braid hair (literally, even my husband can braid hair!) and 2. If she couldn't do braids, I'm not sure she why she agreed to it in the first place when I texted her the picture a week prior to the appointment. The end style was nothing like the picture I sent her. Of course, I was also 20 minutes late to my makeup appointment and by the time I got there, the bobby pins were completely falling out (less than 30 minutes after I left Masoodah's chair). My makeup artist had to completely repin my hair and make sure it was going to hold for the gala. On top of this, the services came out to be $360. I did not have time to question it so I quickly signed the bill leaving my regular percentage tip and left. The day after the gala I texted Masoodah to let her know how disappointed I was in her services and asked for a breakdown of the charges. She charged me the normal price for the cut and a root touch with partial highlight but added an additional $65 for toner and "extra color" because my hair is thick and long. My hair has always been thick and long and I have never had these charges added by her before. Not to mention, she didn't discuss with me the extra charges. In our text conversation she simply said - "I assumed you wouldn't have a problem with it." Not to mention the ridiculous $75 charge for a 10 minute updo that didn't last 30 minutes. Instead of apologizing and offering to take part of the charges off, she became extremely defensive and rude, stating that all of her services are final. She accused me of being condescending and told me I had no right to talk to her that way. I was nothing but polite and honest about my disappointment. She continued to defend her stylist skills and insisted that she didn't become a successful stylist by being dishonest - none of which I questioned or mentioned. After finally threatening to dispute the charges with my card, she agreed to credit me back $65. I was fully planning to continue seeing Masoodah until she became combative and rude with me via text. Shat a way to treat a customer. I recommend seeking out a stylist who is both honest and upfront about their prices and values their customers by treating them with respect when they've made a mistake. I have finally found a salon I absolutely love! I scheduled an appointment with Nevalyn because a friend recommended her. Scheduling the appointment took less than two minutes. The receptionist was incredibly helpful and friendly while I made the appointment. Nevalyn was able to fit me in at 7pm on a thursday. The day of I got there a little early in case I couldnt find the location. Its right across the street from the One 2 One restaurant & Silver Fox. There is valet parking or self parking. I didnt have a problem finding a parking spot. When I walked in the salon was bright and really elegant looking. I met with Nevalyn and went back. She offered wine and bottled water. Of course I caved and took a glass of wine. She assessed my hair and we discussed cuts. I showed her pictures of a style I liked. When she washed my hair she massaged my head as well. I swear to you it was the best head massage ever. I wanted to fall asleep. As she cut my hair she kept me facing the mirror almost 80% of the time. I hate when stylists turn me away from the mirror so I cant see what they're doing. Nevalyn and I talked the entire time. She is so sweet and easy to get along with. After she finished cutting my hair, she dried it, styled it then finished feathering it in some spots. It took just under an hour to finish. All for just $70 (without tip). Masoodah is a rare breed. She's honest, thoughtful and clearly a hair expert. We spent 15 minutes just talking about my hair and how much time I spend caring for it and how I like to wear it. I'm so happy with Modern Luxe's new location! I needed a new hair stylist and it so happened that Bre was available at the time I needed so I scheduled my appointment online (so convenient!) and anxiously awaited my appointment. Their new location is at legacy and 121 in the same plaza as Zen nails, Kenny's burgers, Cantina Laredo, etc. They are located in the center of the plaza across from silver fox and just a couple doors down from a Trattoria al Giardino. The salon is beautiful - grey with black trim, just the right amount of sparkly chandeliers, some gorgeous tile accents and pretty grey wood floors. Bre was super friendly and really listened to what I wanted when we were chatting before we got started while making some great but not at all pushy suggestions. We decided on my cut and glaze then headed to the shampoo area where Bre used a great smelling shampoo and then applied my clear glaze. After spending 20 minutes in the "processing lounge" with my complimentary diet Dr Pepper it was time to rinse and condition and then head back to the chair for cutting and styling. Bre worked her magic and at the end it was perfect! The cut is exactly what I wanted and the clear glaze made my hair super shiny. The blowout Bre did was great - not too much product and just the right amount of curl and body. I've found my new stylist and salon and I couldn't be happier! read more

The atmosphere is fun but everyone is very serious about making you look your best!! KC is absolutely fabulous! They sell my favorite haircare products, Oribe and they are close by to where I live. Their website and booking tool was easy to navigate, as well. Next step, was choosing a Stylist, which again became an easy decision after learning about Masoohdah's background/experience and all the amazing reviews! She is truly fabulous!!!! Extremely disappointed with this salon. The owner Tara and many other stylists were not wearing a mask (as they've made it optional inside) but makes me wonder if they followed other sanitary and hygiene requirements. They over-state the expertise of their stylists. I went with Maria thinking she is advanced and has had all this training. I did not like the outcome of my full highlights (which looked nothing like the photo I showed her) and I spent almost 7 hours with her for my shoulder length hair. I later looked her up and realized she has just graduated from some B-Grade institute in August 2020, and I basically paid her $300 to practice on my head. The owner should've tried to help her and guide her for a better outcome. I think she may have lied about the photos she showed me as her previous work. The salon isn't the cleanest and I basically did not enjoy the experience. I was patient though hoping for good results but am now furious on how they dupe their customers. If you know a stylist, go with them, but otherwise avoid this average salon that charges A-grade prices. read more

Kari said try it this way first, we can always come back if we want it shorter. She charged us $60 (including tip). A week later my daughter decided she wanted it shorter. Josh is by far the best hair dresser I have ever had. He has been doing my hair for about 3 years now and I am always so impressed. I have short hair, and he does an incredible job at cutting my hair to look fun and stylish. He also does my color and Brazilian blowouts, which are both amazing. I would 100% recommend getting a Brazilian blowout before a vacation or special event, because Josh will make your hair feel like silk. I constantly get compliments on my hair!!
