I'm going to add to my previous review. I come here for all haircuts and I can depend on them for all major milestones in life. My best friend's wedding, my trip to other countries, or just another week day and they make my whole week. I come in for a men's haircut. I have been to so many places and Haru Salon is the only one for me. I can trust them to do an outstanding job and leave me filling with confidence. I'll walk you through the process. First they don you with two capes and another item for your neck. Is it cold? They have a closet that warms up your jacket. Second they wash and massage your hair and your back in a massage chair. Next they cut your hair to your liking and walk you through the process - they will tell you what looks good and why. With the amount of meticulous care I've seen them take compared to anyone else blows me out the water. Another hair wash (okay this is new to me since I have never seen a second hair wash in the North) and styling, waxing, blow drying your hair. I had been growing my hair out for 1.5 yrs, and now my hair is completely ruined. I've been doing the magic straightening perm for over 20 years, so I know how it's supposed to turn out. The stylist Yens is very sweet but doesn't listen and fix it when I brought up to her that my top was still coarse and not straightened properly, She kept saying it was bc I had more hair on top as my hair was thinned out on the bottom. That is true, but it was also more coarse and not silky like the rest of my hair. The rest of my hair was also done unevenly--some parts were silky, but the ends were dry and now my hair is sticking up permanently from one side due to the damage. :( Even the cashier said my hair looked poofy on top. She kept denying it and gaslighting me, not listening and making a good solution. When I drove 7 hrs from Austin (both ways), I thought she'd redo the top. Instead, she put some straightening cream called "down perm." I told her my hair was stiff, and she kept assuring me it would wash out in 2 weeks. I washed it 30x now, and it's still there!! :((( I think she just didn't want to spend another 3.5 hours redoing the magic properly. I trusted her as the hair expert, but she made it worse! My hair feels like I've been wearing a hat all day and my hair is plastered to my scalp, no movement nor breathability as there usually is with magic. It's so uncomfortable!! After paying $450, i expected better results. I've had better results with salons charging more than half less. Usually magic costs $200-250. Don't be fooled by their fancy equipment, drinks, snacks, and beautiful women. It's skill, listening, and empathy that matters. I've been to less fancy Korean salons and they did a much better job. Unfortunately, my stylist I was using in Dallas, Rich and Soo, went back to Korea... :( Please lmk if you know of a good place to do magic straight. sigh. I understand she wanted to prevent damage, but I only wanted the top part redone at least. I do not want to leave a bad review. Everyone has been really nice, but I don't feel like I was heard and she made my hair 10x worse after she added that weird sticky product that won't wash out. It's still in my hair 2.5 weeks later, and now my hair's growing out weird. It looks and feels like astro-turf and my hair is sticking out on the right side from the damage. Myfriend felt my hair and was horrified. It's gonna take another 2-3 yrs to grow out and fix my hair. :((( I also had messaged them via text, and got no response until I said I felt compelled to write a review to warn other customers. Don't trust inflated reviews. Yelp and Google are only useful if people post their honest experiences both good and bad. It's the truth what happened to me .This is the worst magic straight experience I've ever had. :( I also wasn't satisfied with the way she cut my hair. It's choppy, not natural-looking and textured like I showed in the photo. Edit: Upon posting this review, the salon harassed me 5x from different #'s asking me to remove the review just bc they gave me a refund. It's unethical to bribe a customer. I'm only posting now after she told me to wait 2 weeks for the glue she put in my hair to be removed, and it didn't dissolve like she said it would! :( I took my post down after she refunded me, but I felt compelled to write a review bc I had such a bad experience and i don't want someone else to waste their money and time like i did. While I appreciate the refund, I honestly think I should be paid for the damages incurred and time wasted. It's going to take years to grow my hair back :((( I"m sooo, sooo sad. Also, tip--do not get any of the hair treatments. It masks the damage to the hair. The treatment only lasts for a week or so. You'll know the true results a week later. read more

I have been searching far and wide to find a hair salon that specializes in Asian hair and was not going to break the bank and I finally found one! I called and made an appointment the day of and they were able to get me in the same day. I loved getting my haircut here! The wash and massage was awesome. Yena did an amazing job with my hair and did a great job in walking me through it every step of the way! She matched the reference photo I showed her and made suggestions along the way as well. Modern meets chic! Was recommended this place by my twin sister and i'm glad I came here! Yena did my hair and we went for an all over color with toner and cut. Each service includes hair treatment with steam! They use good products and olaplex!! Yena was very sweet and detailed oriented. I tried a handful of others prior where the cut was good but they cut off more than I asked, or i felt that my layers were top heavy. The salon is so bright, open qnd modern. I am sooo Happy with finding Haru! I am a 63 year old woman who has always had the ubiquitous below chin bob haircut. I am Caucasian and have always had straight hair and now find that it is starting to be wavy. Haru suggested cutting it a bit shorter and then her texturing after drying was superb. It is now chin length and is sassy and updated. Do not be put off by the fact that the Salon specializes in Asian hair. Everyone is so welcoming and the attention to detail from offering you a welcome beverage to the shampoo with the head massage coupled with the massage chair was incredible. I will definitely be going back! I set an appointment two weeks ahead when I got there on a Wednesday.Someone I know had her hair done there an I like what they did. Unfortunately when I got there the person at the desk said the colorist wasn't there she couldn't do any work for me. You had two weeks to call and leave a message. I look at my call long, she never called and she claimed she did. She also said that what I was looking to get done was going to take approximately 6 hours and it was going to cost $600.00 dollars is don't know if is true or not. Needless to say I left ver disappointed by the unethical behavior I encountered at this place. I managed to get my hair done some place else, they have my business now for saving the day. they need to clean the floor it's nice but it looks dirty. Haru Salon SAVED my hair!!!! My hair color was a brassy multicolored mess-- absolutely wrecked from visiting an American salon (who did NOT understand asian hair). I had a consultation with the color expert at Haru, who was incredibly knowledgeable and explained all the science and intricacies behind dying asian hair. The very same day, they fit me in to correct my hair, provide damage-preventing treatments, fixed my uneven cut, and even gave recommendations on what would suit my head and face shape!!! I have been trying to find a long term salon for a while now and I think I found the one! First of all some pointers about the actual salon. It's very clean and aesthetic inside, like a monochrome black and white theme. The chairs are super comfy and the shampoo chairs are massage chairs!! They give complimentary steam wrap while you're sitting there and I swear I've never been so relaxed lol. Okay now for hair. I was very particular about wanting any hint of brass out of my hair for as long as possible. She understood the assignment and made sure to dye it a cool tone and also added toner afterwards and it turned out to be the most beautiful color I've ever had. I have very thin hair that's prone to drying out and my hair has been soft for days. The price was also very fair considering I had a five hour appt. This was my second visit to Haru Salon! I didn't want to go anyplace else because Haru did such a great job cutting my hair and restoring it to health my previous visit. I have a lot of hair, which makes it difficult to deal with, but Haru has never had a problem with it. Jeeun is an excellent assistant who ensures that I am well cared for at all times. Haru does beautiful layers, bang trimming, and shaping, and she is always full of helpful hair recommendations. I've never been to a Korean hair salon before so I didn't know what to expect. I was given a hair wash about 5 minutes after checking in for my haircut appointment but then I was left at the hair washing station for so long that the massage chair turned off by itself. I would estimate that I was sitting there for at least 30 minutes. By then, two other girls finished their appointments and another girl who checked in after me was asked to get her haircut started. I'm assuming that I wasn't a priority so I wasn't asked to get seated for my haircut until the other two stylists were done. When my haircut was finished, I thought it was nice but definitely not anything special. It then took another 30 minutes to style. I walked out after close to 2 hours. Longest haircut of my life. Maybe it was too busy but I made my haircut appointment 2 weeks in advance so I didn't expect to be treated like an afterthought. read more
