Honestly really wanted to love this place because of all the good reviews and how close it was to my place. TLDR: came for digital perm and it didn't work. Came a second time and also didn't work. She blamed my hair and I wasted $200 to basically just get my hair completely damaged with 0 curl and be thrown shade by this lady. I made an appointment for a digital perm and was excited to get my hair done. The lady was nice enough but as she was curling my hair in the rolls, commented (borderline complained) on how much hair I had and how much chemicals she had to use. At the end, lets me know that my hair has a tendency to not curl and the perm will only last me 2-3 months compared to other people which would last 5-6 months. She gave me tips on how to style for volume and how to take care of it, including how I shouldn't blow dry and instead only towel dry. I was excited to see results and tipped $40 on top of $160 service. I walk out with my hair still very damp and get home to see that it's basically completely straight. So it didn't even last 1 hour, much less 2-3 months. I gave her a call to let her know that it was basically a failure asked if she could redo for me next month as I am headed out of town. She said ok, come in and I will redo. Due to scheduling issues, I had to push my appointment 1 hour later than I had planned, but I let her know a week ahead of time. I come in and thank her for having me, but she kept being passive aggressive talking about how her other clients there will have to wait extra because of me. Which wouldn't be an issue if she knew how to do a proper digital perm, and I wouldn't have had to come in a second time!! Anyway, she does my hair again but comments again at how much hair I have and how she has to use soo much ingredients or whatever to accommodate. At the end, she lets me know that if the curls don't come out properly, it's because of my hair type. No apologies or anything, just passive aggressive comments with lots of awkward silences. Also, if my hair isn't the type to "work" with a digital perm, isn't it a professional's job to let me know BEFORE the service that it may not yield the results I am seeking? Note: I have gotten a digital perm years ago and it came out perfectly fine at another salon???? I have a picture of how it ended up the 1st time (same day as perm) 2nd time (same day as perand what I had shown her I wanted. read more

Juni Hair Salon - What I wanted - Hair Stylists Near Me - Plano, Texas

I went in for a simple male cut and she asked me what I wanted and I told her I just wanted to lose some of the thickness. For reference I have very curly hair and I like it's natural look. She starts off by shaving my hair on the sides, when I told her I wanted a slight trim, I immediately told her to stop and I did not wanted to shave it and she vaguely acknowledged and went back to trimming my hair. She then randomly trimmed way too much of my hair on the left side of my head unevenly and I asked what she was doing and she stated she was "starting the thinning treatment" and I let her continue. To sum it up she completely ruined my hair and sprayed it with so many random chemicals and straightened it which was completely wrong and the worst part was she never even cleaned up the sides of my head. She did such a bad job and she never listened to me. She goes with her own plan and does what she wants and won't even listen to you. I used to go there all the time, but she kept not listening and messing up my hair. My hair is always so damaged and ruined after I go there and it ruins my confidence. I have to go look for a new barber which (I'll take over her crappy cuts) but by all means don't go to her she is awful. read more

I wanted to like this place because she's a Korean small business owner, and note that this review is long overdue... it's probably been a year since I've been. But the last time I was here, Tara's CC machine was down. I asked her if she accepted checks or Venmo. She insisted on me writing down my CC down for her. (This is such an old school practice and IMO not acceptable in today's world.) I told her that I didn't feel comfortable writing it out and that she could then call me as soon as her CC machine was back up. She calls me a few hours later, and in a very confrontational tone, asks me to provide my CC #. Well as I was giving it to her, she proceeds to repeat it loudly over the phone when there were clearly customers in the background. Zero sense of noonchee (tact) and just such a turnoff in the way she handled it. Or course I was never going to return and I was so upset by this I didn't even want to write a review until some time had passed. I mean, is it MY fault your CC machine was down and you don't have any other payment methods set up in today's day and age?! Anyway, just note that that's the type of personality you're dealing with if you have any issues with the service or experience here. As for the trim and straight perm I got, it was forgettable. Not the worst, not the best. For that, I'll add a star. read more

I absolutely love the outcome of my hair. I wanted a cut and color. I knew I wanted a lob and ombré - for my hair to go from my natural black to something vibrant but wasn't sure exactly what. I'm also that type of person to go into the salon and give the stylist freedom to use their creativity. I had one image of the cut I wanted and the stylist did it perfectly. I had multiple (very different) images of colors that I liked and she was able to run with it and do an amazing job. The ombré fades from my natural hair color to the purple beautifully and she threw in a few different shades to make it all blend so well. I've had a hard time finding somebody in Dallas to trust with my hair, but I think I've found my go-to stylist! I am the absolute worst though because I didn't get her name... she was the only stylist in the salon on a Saturday read more

Tara gave me a great haircut listen to what I wanted and cut like the picture I showed her. Promo and friendly and professional. Five star

So I came to Tara for another haircut, and I was a little late since I have to drive over 1 hr to get here(which is really worth it to me, because she is talented and skillful with haircuts). Tara was very accommodating regardless of my tardiness, and just went straight to work. I was very impressed that she remembered the type of haircut I prefer and she did the cut exactly as I wanted. She listens and remembers folks!!! That is very hard to come by. My haircut was done very well and very efficiently, which tells me she is very experienced and is really good with her hands. I will be coming back soon for more haircuts and that magic perm I want to get so much!! Thank you tara read more

Thank you to Tara for reaching out to me and offering to update my coloring! She was able to find time short notice on New Year's Eve no less. We talked through the coloring decisions she made last time and she chose a brighter color for me that fit my hair type. She even updated the cut too and used some protective treatments. I appreciate the dedication she has to making sure her customers find the color they're looking for and get their look right. Even given difficult hair types, she is skilled and quick with even complex looks. I'm happy with my new color and thankful we were able to find the right look the second time. read more

Drove 2hours or so to this place by reading reviews. I got a trim and color. Compared to other salons in Dallas, they did give suggestions and listened to my problems. Although they applied lots of dye to my hair, I didnt feel any pain from the chemical nor it didnt remain on my scalp. My hair was very damaged so they offered treatment for free. Awesome for first comer. I liked how my hair color came out. Will def. Going back. read more

Juni Hair Salon - Finishing up! - Hair Stylists Near Me - Plano, Texas

I am new to Dallas and was searching high and low for a hair salon to go to. I have really bad experiences with anything involving coloring my hair due to having dark Asian hair. It always turns out brassy. I called Juni hair salon and she scheduled my appointment that week! She even gave me a quote on the phone (Side note: If your hair is complicated as mine and more steps have to be done to achieve what you want, extra fees will apply). I came to my appointment with a mask and Juni wore a mask the entire time as well. I showed her a picture of what she wanted and she said immediately got to work. The process took a total of 3 1/2 hours because like I said, my hair is very complicated. But in the end, it was EXACTLY how I wanted. Even better. I lived in Los Angeles prior to this and have been to so many hair salons in my life, but Juni Hair Salon was the best one. My hair feels soft even after 3 1/2 hours of bleaching and toning. Juni is a fast responder, experienced, and will give you what you want. Overall, it was a great experience and I will be coming back again. I am so happy I have found a hairstylist in the DFW area! read more

Long story short: wonderful and worth every cent! My whole family and I come here for everything from haircuts, dyes, and perms. Helena and Juni are both extremely talented, trend-aware and super friendly. To be honest I consider myself very picky, but Juni Hair Salon gets everything right! I gave this 5 stars based not only on one good experience, but years of consistently great visits. :) During my most recent visit, Helena suggested I try a natural looking digital perm-- best hair decision I've made to-date. It's noticeable yet not artificial looking, and perfect for casual and dressy occasions. And to my surprise (and delight) it was the solution to my lack of volume. I've attached a picture of the results of my digital perm (BEFORE DRYING). They are very conscious of personalizing every customer's experience. Helena, aware that I am a college student who might not have a lot of time to spend, emphasized trendy hairstyles that don't require a lot of maintenance. Helena and Juni are both skillful AND considerate, and that's why I'm so happy with all of my experiences here! read more

Juni Hair Salon - Natural waves digital perm (before drying)! By far the best hair decision I've made, suggested by Helena :) - Hair Stylists Near Me - Plano, Texas

Really great cut and style. I feel bad because I didn't get the stylist's name, but she was so good and really understood my hair. I can't speak to a walk-in experience (I see they have a poor review from that), but I called ahead on Saturday morning and got in later that afternoon with no problems, and was in and out in about 35mins (one other woman there getting her hair colored). I went for a trim, layers, and bangs. I wanted heavier bangs, but the stylist suggested something lighter and was so right! She also gave me advice on how to care for my hair since it was damaged from pulling it back too tight and often, and how to style it cute and safely. Definitely the best cut I've had in DFW, maybe even ever. I'd say she is extremely efficient and skilled at what she does! I've been to many salons in the Plano area, including many of the more expensive salons, but none could compare to the end result here. Juni Hair Salon will be my go-to place from now on :) read more

Not truly honest about the prices listed on their website! I went there to get a PH Balance treatment. I looked at their website so I am curious about their make-up service for the wedding since I am going to have my wedding in next month. The first time I called there was a lady picked up the phone and she said she was busy at the moment and since I would like to schedule an appointment for my hair she could talk with me about the make-up service when I am there. It does make sense at that time and I agreed that in-person talking and enquire is easier than over the phone. Well, when I went there to get my treatment the hair artist does not even remember my appointment is for treatment and he kept trying to sell me their expensive shampoo from Japan for $75 per bottle. I told him that I am okay just for the treatment but he kept talking about the Brazilian Blow Out would be the best choice for me and when I said no he said the treatment wouldn't really work since it's one time service unless I get the treatment every three or four days. I got my treatment but he made me felt down since he kept saying it won't work. I asked about the wedding make-up service since they do have their website shows a wedding package No. 1 as $250 (consists of Bride & Groom and their parents). The guy replied me as the bride's make-up and hair is $200 and each additional person would be another $95. That is totally a huge jump from their website's prices. He does not speak a lot of English so I showed him his own salon's website with the package prices listed and he said No, we updated our prices and cannot do it anymore. The tricky and funny part is the PH Balance therapy treatment is the same price as the website listed-$65. I really don't like people cannot be consistent with their service prices and always trying to charge clients more money than their listed prices. I will never go back to that salon again, and honestly I don't feel I cannot trust that place anymore. P.S. I will upload their website screenshot that it shows the wedding make-up package is $250. read more

We did not have an appointment but walked in and were barely greeted nicely by this lady. When asked if we had an appointment, she gave the ugliest glare and was really disturbed by the fact. At that point I did not want to do business with them to wait. She said to come back in 5 hours. But we felt like we were inconveniencing them so just decided to leave. There was no option given to sit and wait like other hair salons. I just couldn't take her attitude. If you are unhappy about life don't bring that negativity to others please. read more

I have baby fine curly hair. It is easy to cut my hair into shapes resembling triangles, like the '90s Dilbert comic triangle-haired business lady. Last week I needed a haircut in Richardson/Plano area and fast because I was traveling, and loved that Juni's site focused on excellent customer service. So I made an appointment for 1pm on a Tuesday. I wasn't expecting to find Juni's red door salon in such a small strip, but the inside was cute and updated. I was in at 1pm and out by 1:15pm with a haircut I'm more than satisfied with (that's minus blow drying time because my hair is so fine I just never use heat on it). When he was finished, he put something that looked like mousse in my hair, which concerned me because mousse just makes my hair crispy and dry. Turns out it wasn't mousse at all, as Helena explained to me at the counter. It was a product from Japan that worked great in my hair, not at all crispy. The bill was so easy on my wallet, I felt like I was getting away with something, but I wouldn't expect that kind of pricing for long. My hair texture is unusual, and if Juni could cut my hair so well, I bet it is true as he claims on his website that he works well with all kinds of hair. In fact, I was so impressed with Juni and Helena that I was motivated to write my first Yelp review. read more

They were so wonderful and truly took the time to teach me how to style my perm. I felt like I was being spoiled and pampered the entire time I was there. Originally I was going in to get a regular perm, but after explaining the different types of perms to me, she gave me an option that would achieve the curly waves I wanted PLUS making it last longer, all while still remaining in my price range. It was truly a great experience and I would highly recommend them to anybody. I know I'm going back for ALL my hair needs! Thanks again! read more

Visiting Allen, TX from AZ. I wanted to color my hair darker than #8 which is really light for Asian hair to may be #7? Once I thought about it, I just couldn't wait until my day off. I read about Juni's hair salon and I wanted to give it a try. My appointment was 1:30. When I walked in, there was a little boy getting his hair cut. I waited about 20 minutes due to the father of kid wanted Juni to wash boy's hair. When it was my turn, we talked little bit about my hair history. On the phone, he said #8 is really light color for Asian hair which I knew but after he saw me in person he agreed that #8 looks good on me. Tip of my hair has been faded like blonde color Vs my top hair is like light brown. I decided to do #7 which light brown but darker than my color. Juni noticed and made a comment about my hair, like pretty fine compare to other Asian hair, very little hair (which less product to put on, my opinion). He spent his time to do my hair. I have to say he didn't rush it, and he wanted to make sure the color comes out in my satisfaction so he colored double on the bottom part of my hair. When it was done, my top hair color was the way I like but the bottom part where double colored was little too darker than top part. I guess I am used to seeing my hair light so it looked quite darker. Sad thing is my guy said he likes my hair color lighter than my new darker color which I had to agree with him. I had #8 for almost 3 years and this #7 is just too dark. Juni did a great job and he make sure you are his priority. read more

If you're looking to get your hair dyed a color other than orange, I beg you to find a different Asian hair salon for both my sake and yours. Originally I was looking for an ombre that went from brown to a light pink, but that is apparently not possible on Asian hair (which thoroughly confuses me. Just look up any K-pop star and you'd understand). I am wholly aware that a dye job like that would damage my hair and be expensive, and I appreciate the concern, but it is my OWN choice what I decide to do. Not yours, not my family member's, not anybody's but my own. But because of the hairstylist's relentless discouragement with excuses like money and hair damage, I settled for a more subtle color. Now, I asked for an ombre that went from dark brown to a rosy, lighter brown, and showed the hair stylist a reference picture. "Ohh, OK, I know what you want. Just trust me." she said. What I should have done right there was leave. "Just trust me" was a huge red flag, and I cannot believe I was naive enough to let her follow through on whatever the hell she did. Which, by the way, was orange copper hair with blonde highlights with an attempted gradient into red. It's disgustingly ugly. I'm Korean and fully aware that Asian hair turns different hues of orange when bleached, but this is absolutely ridiculous, and I am appalled that the hairstylist failed to distinguish the difference between dark brown and copper orange. I do not have the slightest idea why any of these colors were applied. Perhaps the stylists are colorblind? Perhaps I have short term memory and cannot remember asking for blonde highlights in orange hair? Who knows? So now I have this awful hair that is not remotely what I wanted. I damaged my hair for no reason, and it was such a waste of money. It's so bad that I can't even fix it at a different hair salon. Don't waste your time here for a dye job. If you absolutely must come to this place, get your hair trimmed or something. Or not. They might mess that up, too. read more

I had an okay haircut here. My haircut looked fairly similar to the picture I showed her but it didn't look exact. The length wasn't correct. And then between the two stylists, they didn't have clear communication. One cut my hair, then the other dried and styled my hair with some curls. (Which I didn't ask for. I kind of regret not stopping her because I felt like she curled my hair too long my hair smelled like it was starting to burn) Then after my hair is all styled, the first stylist comes back and says "Oh no, I was not done yet." And continues to cut my hair... Now thats its all curled and you can't distinctly tell where the length or line is. I wouldn't come back. read more

I'm a guy with not a lot of hair, but you would be amazed how bad stylists can make me look. The owner, Juni (a guy), really knows his way around a pair of scissors. He can do in 10 minutes what I normally have to sit in a chair for at least 20 elsewhere. And he cuts it better. You can tell how confident a stylist is in their abilities just by how they cut, and Juni knows what he's doing. The shop is tucked away and easy to miss, but find them. It is bright and clean. English is spoken in this Korean shop so that is not a problem. I have a new go-to place. read more
