I waited a few years to post this because I can't let it go. Rachel didn't pass the vibe check but I didn't take it personal it was still early. I walked in and had to wait over an hour. No big deal I'll catch up on reading. I had my consultation and she went to work. She gave me a perm and cut. It turned out ok. Not the best I've had but she still did a good job. I told her my goal was to eventually lighten my hair and when should I come back. She told me to book for 2 weeks. I returned and she had bleach put in my hair that she permed 2 weeks prior. Not color but bleach! I didn't know what it was when it was initially being applied by her assistant. I should have walked out when the assistant asked 2x if that was what she wanted to put in my hair without saying what it was. My hair now has thinning and has not grown back healthy as it once was. I spent almost $500 in 2 weeks only to have missing patches of hair that turned to straw. After my service her instructions were to make sure I get my protein treatments. Long story short ALL of my hair started to fall out within a week. By week two I had significant loss. I messaged her and instead of taking responsibility she proceeded by protecting herself by saying "I told you this probably wasn't a good idea." THAT WAS A FLAT OUT LIE! She is the professional why would I tell her what to do after being told it would damage my hair. She told me to book 2 weeks out. Better question is, why would she do it if she knew it wasn't a good idea?! Plain and simple GREED! Yes, I made sure to get a protein treatment but was told my hair was dead and needed to be cut all off. The only reason she was not sued is because of my barber Noah who said I should pray for her and chalk it up to a bad experience. His thought was not to destroy her business or reputation. I tried to let it go. I am all for supporting black businesses but SOME black business owners need to do better. The greed, the attitudes, and the over inflated prices need to be addressed. This place is beyond what I expected! You know how you've been to a salon and it's older looking and you can tell that the place been around for years? Or maybe that's just me. Diva Styles was the most cleanest salon I've ever been to, I was instantly greeted as I walked in on my first visit by one of the stylist. I was seated, as I sat I looked around this very spacious salon, whom ever did the decor I loved it! This place has a urban but classy vibe to it. They play nice music (that's enjoyable) and again did I mention how clean it was? I was introduced to Natashia, While she was already working on a client head. Natashia was very sweet/ quick and prompt when it came to styling my hair, her associate and I had a good conversation while she shampoo my hair, once I was done shampooing, I was blowed dried out and Natashia begin her amazing process to doing my silk press. I've never felt so comfortable with people but both these ladies made me feel home, we laughed so hard. If you looking for a place to get slayed then this the place to go!!! read more

My last experience was my hair tech took another appointment at the last minute as a favor which pushed mine late. She had someone else wash my hair and she told him to blow dry my hair which I never do. I sat for 75 minutes. Please know that i am very particular about my hair and how it's styled-- a bit of a hair snob. My hair has to be "fly". Rachel.....Rachel.....Rachel..... Finally, someone who knows how to cut hair. When you have a good haircut, everything in the world is allllright! There is no sitting around waiting. If your appnt is at 6:30, by 6:40 you're in the chair being serviced. Rachel is the owner of both locations (Addison & Duncanville) and she has a fine tuned and oiled system to keep you from spending an entire day in the salon. Barry, her assistant does all the wet and chemical services and all diva Rachel does is style your hair. Barry has hands gifted by God. He knows exactly where to massage your head and how much pressure to apply. And he sings too!!!!!!! I have no idea what products are used, but they are top notch and quality. Rachel cut my hair so well, i can wash it and dry it and not put any heat on it to curl it. They only time my hair gets curled is when she does it when i return for service. Now that's how a haircut should be!!!!!!! This is the most I've ever paid to have my hair done, but then you get what you pay for. Can I just take a minute and express my DEEP satisfaction with Diva styles salon? Wanna hear it, here it go! I walked in and was greeted by the most charming man ON TIME. I wasn't abandoned under the dryer for 2 hours like most salons! Rachel came and got me before I was baked to a crisp. My hair and scalp FEEL and SMELL amazing. The conversation was great, and she is clearly a pro so I felt comfortable from the minute I sat down. Shawnte took me on as a walk-in. I'm visiting Dallas and had needed a cut before I even got on the plane. Having moved to the DC metro area a year ago, id been trying knew stylists there with no luck. One colored it and fried my hair. No one seemed to be able to understand what I wanted. She got it exactly right. So now what am I supposed to do when I need a cut again? Fly to Dallas?!! Really she is wonderful as a stylist and a person, warm, friendly and talented. I couldn't ask for more, except for her to move to Virginia! The salon was recommended by a friend. First thing first. I made my appointment on line and it also allows you to pick your service. I chose a wash and style which also provides you with the cost of the service $60.00. Upon arriving at my schedule time, I was greeted by a young man who shampoo me and sat me under the dryer for 20 minutes and than I waited an hour to get in the stylist chair at that time I asked her about a cut, she cut off a 1/2 inch to an inch. Flat iron and gave me a basic bob, I asked her if she could add curls as well. Well, after 15 minutes of curling my hair she told me she was finished. I knew the cut would probably be an extra 15.00, she said no , service was a c-note (100.00). I was stunned...no color, , no perm... Wash, style, and cut. Did my hair look any different.. Hell no.. I could have did this from the house.. I thought I had found a stylist.... Not this time. I Won't be back!!! read more
