I spent years trying to find a colorist that could achieve the shade and dimension of red I was looking for - Chelsea got it on the first try. I have been seeing her for 2 years and would never go elsewhere! Besides nailing the red color I was seeking, what really sold me on Chelsea is how precise she is while she works. As a perfectionist myself, it was relieving to have a stylist that really focused on her work-- other stylists I have been to have been a little too easy-breezy for me in their services. When she does highlights, she really takes her time to make sure the color is even and in the right place. Chelsea takes detailed notes about the colors she uses and refers back on future visits. She also wants to make absolutely sure I am happy - once after a long 3-hour appointment, I was really unhappy with how a new color turned out, and she fixed it right then (even re-doing the blowout)! Chelsea is committed to quality all-around. I also like that Chelsea is never pushy in trying to convince me to do a specific cut or color. When I wanted to try for some pink in my hair, she worked with me to do just a little at a time - which made me much more comfortable. She has also never chopped off more hair than I wanted... we've all had that experience. Finally, Chelsea has always been understanding if I need to work or otherwise just don't feel like chit chatting. Some days I'm more stressed than others, and my hair appointment can feel like another thing I have to get done rather than a luxury experience. On those days, it's nice to be able to bust out my laptop while Chelsea does her thing. On the days I do feel like chatting, though, Chelsea is warm and friendly, and always seems to remember past stories I've told her about my life that she checks in on. I wish I had that gift! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Chelsea to my closest friends, especially if you have color needs outside the normal blonde highlights and gray coverups. Went in for a chocolate brown hair gloss and seems like I left with a black semi-permanent dye job. I've had a lot of chocolate glosses in my day and this ain't it. Pretty disappointed but not very surprised. The place seemed like an inflated Supercuts and the hairstylist seemed judgmental, unsure of herself, and had pretty bad technique. I had gone to a different salon and had balayage done several times. Each time I felt the color just wasn't right but maybe that's just the best my hair can be. I went to Stephanie one time, showed her a picture of the color I was hoping for and wow did she deliver! My hair came out looking exactly like the picture I had shown her. I chose this salon based on good Yelp reviews. However I have to leave a negative review after I got the worst haircut experience in my life here. That's so odd that your hair are being cut after using a flat iron. First of all they appeared much shorter after blow drying. But that's not the main point. Second: When you come home and dry you hair naturally they look super uneven. Now I have to suffer from this haircut until my hair grows back so that it can be corrected. Don't recommend. I use Yelp to find new businesses, and I found this salon without any reviews. I made an appointment for Shellac with Ellen and got to the salon in the early afternoon on a weekday. The salon is tucked away in an office park area on Midway. It was busy during my visit with clients of all ages. I was immediately offered a beverage and taken back to Ellen's station - a private room. Ellen was meticulous - she checked each finger and gave me great tips about hand and nail care. The Shellac application was perfect. It's a great alternative to acrylic nails and they last around two weeks - no chips or peeling! The price was just right - much cheaper than my last Shellac manicure. I'll be back soon and I think I'll look at their full menu of services! read more
