10/10. Do yourself a favor and book with Kat B! She's great at her craft. I told her I wanted more framing around my face and a trim of my split ends (but obviously to keep as much length as possible). She gave me a few different options depending on how much I wanted to cut off and helped me pick a style that would upgrade my look without putting me into hair shock. I also booked a K12 treatment, and she not only gave me that but also helped with toning my hair. When I told her I dyed my hair myself, she gave me recommendations to prevent damage instead of giving me "the talk" about how it's a bad idea (like most stylists do). She geeks out on hair care and will tell you exactly what she's doing and how to replicate it at home. Amazing, amazing, amazing. I spent about $150 for my cut and treatment, and then another $150 on salon products and tip ($300 total). You can definitely spend less or more depending on what level of stylist you book with. read more

My longtime stylist had moved out of state, so I've been looking for someone new. I came across Rachel Voss through the Voss Salon website. I liked her hair and the work displayed on her page, and I hoped she might be a good match for my hair as well. I sent her a polite email introducing myself, complimenting her work, and kindly asking if she might be available for a haircut. I also clicked on the Instagram link provided on the salon's website for her profile and liked a few of her photos. After waiting almost two weeks without a response, I thought there might have been a technical issue with the salon's email system. I planned to follow up via Instagram, but when I returned to the Voss website and clicked on Rachel Voss's Instagram link again, I was greeted with a "page unavailable" message. which I thought was odd, I opened the link in a different browser where I wasn't logged in--and it loaded just fine. That's when I realized she had blocked me. If she was too busy or simply doesn't cut men's hair, a brief, professional reply like "Sorry, I'm fully booked" or "Thanks, but I'm not taking new clients right now" would've been appreciated. Ignoring my message and then going so far as to block me on Instagram just felt unnecessarily cold and, honestly, weird. I'm sure Voss Salon has talented stylists, but this experience felt dismissive and unprofessional. If you're looking for a salon that values clear communication and makes potential clients feel welcome, you might want to look elsewhere. read more

I was unable to attend my appointment as I was called early in the morning the day of my appointment and informed that my father was passing away. I called the salon as I was driving out of town as soon as they opened (about 11 hours prior to my appointment) and explained the situation and they simply asked if I knew their cancellation policy (they charge you half the service if you cancel less than 24 hours in advance). I understand they are a business and don't want to lose revenue on canceled and missed appointments, but the lack of grace, respect, and empathy for the human experience is appalling. read more

Before I mention my personal experience, I want to preface that other one-star reviews given on Yelp are similar to this one providing accuracy in what I experienced with unprofessionalism and unwanted results. I incline anyone to read some for a perspective that could change your mind on going here. :) I recently couldn't have been gladder that I trusted my gut in not spending a cent more at this salon location knowing my stylist had no actual indication of being able to work with me professionally. I almost made a GIGANTIC mistake by almost giving this salon even more of my money that I already did to begin with. (over 1000+ dollars) Let's start at: Blaming the customer on things that were never specified and then in comparison, immediately articulated/asked by the other business in order to achieve my wishes opened my eyes more-so in knowing this guy did not, at all, conduct properly. You can't see up close the difference in color BEFOREHAND to decipher that they don't match (which was a complete and utter waste of my money considering the hair color was also done here in order to specifically match) and thus making a comment about my hair in a negative manner in no correlation to the hair color that YOU should've matched up and not blamed me who's only the client? I get that there is some confusion where I might not understand every step of the way, but YOU are the professional and this step-by-step is close to TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS of my money after is all said and done going through and agreeing to this all which is in return is a huge profit for YOUR business so communicate accordingly without setting yourself to be perceived as stuck-up or belittling. You want to unpleasantly cut me off for more questions asked that another business was eager to understand and make their clientele feel comfortable? Me being someone with little knowledge on extensions (and very much stated), the new business asked about 25 new questions not EVER specified here that I was shocked at how much detail they were interested in to fulfill this investment. Every step of the way WAS MILES AND BEYOND a better experience elsewhere that led me to absolutely loving my hair now. To sum this review up, maybe next time don't practically insult your client and instead do better at hearing them out in order to mitigate. I would never wish anyone to leave as disappointed as I did with my money and wasting plenty of my time when there are so many better options out there to fulfill what outcome you are looking for. read more

Where do I even begin? First, my appointment was for 1:15 pm. My stylist, Bailey, didn't appear before me until 1:50 pm. And no one came to check on me and inform me that she was running behind. I told myself, "Ten more minutes and I'm leaving". But just in the nick of time, Bailey shows up apologizing profusely. Okay...Anyway, we consulted about my color and what I wanted that day (regrowth cover up) and what I wanted in the future (blond highlights with dimension). So a HUGE miscommunication since she covered my gray roots with bright blonde versus blending it with the color that was already there. I was not happy and she agreed to correct it but not without a lot of back and forth about what I wanted. Let me tell you, I have been to many many salons in the 30 years that I've been coloring my hair and I have NEVER heard of a "Root Smudge" before. Apparently that's what I should have asked for. So next came the blowout which was an absolute disaster! Her assistant was blow drying one side (and burning my scalp) while she was frantically trying to dry the other side. Finally I grabbed the brush and blow dryer and dried my bangs properly and said that I needed to get out of there. So this circus lasted FOUR hours! Listen, I'm not stupid-she was bouncing back and forth between me and another client and had her assistant do a lot of the work, which pissed me off. I wasn't paying to have the assistant work on my hair! I will definitely NOT be returning to Voss Salon or even consider recommending it to anyone ever!! Stay Far Far Away! read more

Today my daughter (7) and I visited Voss salon for the first time. From start to end it was the best experience! We were greeted and directed to the robes and waited maybbbbbe 2 minutes, if that. Then the real experience began. Today was my daughters first big girl cut/treatment. (She had a bad experience before so she was scared) but Eddy was absolutely amazing. For the last year, Kat @hairgoddessdfw has been doing my hair and she is amazing. Kat listens to what my hair goals are and she always exceeds my expectations! We have been bleaching my hair and without damaging it and she has been doing an amazing job. She also is AMAZING with her cuts, and she shapes my hair perfectly without over-trimming my hair which is a big pet peeve of mine as I am trying to grow it out. She is very confident when it comes to haircuts which shows and I feel so comfortable sitting in her chair. For 7 years trying to grow my hair out from a botched hack job of 10 inches off my hair (that salon is now closed), and bonded extensions from that hack job that destroyed my hair causing me to have to continue chopping it off, to finally over a year ago, thinking I found THE salon where my hair was FINALLY on its way to length and health only to have the stylist lose it one evening and cut my hair into a MULLET! Yes... a MULLET. Now I love the 80's, but not that much! Devastated and upset, their solution at the time was to put more extensions in the front of my hair to match the back. Again, destroyed hair..pulled them out...then for the last year, I have been searching for a stylist, leaving my hair alone, wearing a HALO, and box coloring my hair. Scissor shocked and scared. I have done so much research on stylists. Bios, reviews, pictures, following work on social media, to find Jaime at Voss Salon. I finally reached out to her on IG. I gave her pretty much a power point presentation on my hair journey with pics and all. She does the most amazing vibrant and bold colors, and I know that if a stylist can pull off such artistic standards with incredible beauty and thoughtfulness of one's own hair quality and integrity, this is the stylist I need for me. I also researched her cutting style to ensure her end looks matched my taste. They did! So...I booked an appointment. Jaime greeted me and was friendly and listened to my concerns. I originally came in thinking I'll play it safe with a Chocolate Cherry color. After looking at my skin tone and hair, she suggested a vibrant maroon color to give me a stunning pop of color that would enhance my look and match my skin tone. I agreed to trust her judgement. After all, I did my research. I felt I had educated myself as much as possible about her to trust her judgement thus far. WOW! She knows her trade! I also knew that I needed a trim to try and get the hair growth on the sides from my Mullet cut to match the back. She was so thoughtful and careful to ensure I knew what she was about to do so I would be comfortable. I walked out feeling like a rockstar, so beautiful and refreshed! After over a year of searching, I have found THE ONE! Don't let these so called upscale or trendy salons fool you. Just because these salons stand behind a "name" doesn't mean they know what they are doing. Voss Salon is what I consider posh but the fact is that Jaime happens to work here.I would book with her if she worked out of her garage. The point is that her talent shined through during my extensive research, and she exceeded all expectations. You don't have to go with a "vibrant" color to have Jaime do your hair. I paid over $400 for a level 1 stylist with one year's experience for a cut and highlights because I couldn't afford a level 2 at Voss. Prices there are stupidly expensive . The appointment took over 6 hours. I asked for a few caramel highlights in my brunette hair & some gentle layers. I ended up an over processed blonde. The cut was non existent I gave up told her to stop she was sweating and scared! Frankly my nerves were shot. I left for a family trip the next day and returned ill Then it was a weekend they were closed. I emailed no reply.It took a few weeks to get a someone. I wanted either a refund or some to fix my terrible over processed hair which was yellow with giant streaks. A reputable salon that values their customer's would have gladly fixed this situation. Voss failed on every level. Bad hair happens sometimes but poor (AND great) client relationship s are developed. Unless you have hundreds of dollars to throw at a hair stylist hoping you will look good then I suggest going elsewhere. Dallas is full of great salons that also have great management.
