I've been to this salon twice now, and I can honestly say I finally found a hairstylist that truly understands my hair. Abrey is AMAZING. I have thick, long, wavy/curly Latina hair, and finding someone who knows how to lift it properly while still keeping it healthy and achieving the exact color I want has not been easy. I love a natural, lived-in brunette balayage look, and she absolutely nailed it. She really listens to what you want and creates color that looks dimensional, blended, and natural instead of overly harsh or stripey. My hair feels healthier, looks shinier, and still has brightness while being very low-maintenance. What I appreciate most is that they care about the long-term health of your hair, not just the immediate results. They're knowledgeable and proactive about what your hair needs, but never pushy, which I really respect. The salon itself is beautiful. It's clean, modern, chic, and the overall experience feels relaxing from the moment you walk in. They offer complimentary drinks and snacks, which is such a thoughtful touch, and everyone there is incredibly friendly and welcoming. I also want to mention Abrey's assistant, who I believe has only been there a few months. I unfortunately cannot remember her name, but she gave me one of the BEST scalp massages I've ever had while washing out my hair treatment. It was so relaxing and honestly elevated the entire appointment experience. I left feeling refreshed, confident, and genuinely cared for. If Abrey can handle my hair, she can handle anybody's. I love this salon highly recommended by my daughter, the only drawback is they are not in Georgia. This was my second visit with Mary and if I could go higher in stars I'd give her a 10+! She is truly amazing when it comes to cutting my hair which is on the finer side. Great consultation and suggestions for my hair style now that I'm dealing with humidity in Georgia opposed to where we lived in California. Mary is kind, engaging in conversation, listens to my hair concerns, great recommendations for hair products, just an overall joy not to mention gorgeous inside and out!! Loved my visit to Indigo Child! I was able to snatch a last-minute appointment which worked out perfectly with my schedule. I had zero expectations as this was my first visit. The morning of my visit I got a text from the salon asking me to pick my drink preference so they could have that ready as I walk in. That was the beginning of the great customer service I received at this place. The place was so cute very minimal but very artsy. You could tell that they were regulars at the salon and the employees really enjoyed what they do. I saw Madelyn for a haircut which cost about $77, which I thought was normal for a haircut. She recommended some great products for me to use at home in preparation for the hair color. I will be getting next month. I loved that she got to know my hair and the products that I used at home and ended up using the same products during my wash at the salon. The salon uses Oribe and Kerastase products, so that was a huge plus! I'm excited to continue using indigo child as my hair salon and 100% recommend this place. read more

Toxic and rude environment and employees. They never answer the phone so it's impossible to change an appt.

I booked a haircut here and I tried to call them to let them know that I was having car troubles. Nobody answered the phone. I came in exactly 15 minutes after the time I booked but they already charged me for the full service and would not take me or let me re book without paying the full amount. They were completely unsympathetic to my situation and charged me the full price. It would have been one thing to charge me full price if I completely no showed - but I tried to call and I came in 15 minutes after and they were not willing to budge at all. I had the stylist Athena and she absolutely damaged and messed up my hair. She highlighted and cut my hair. The color turned out ok but the way she brushed my hair out with the bleach in my hair styles broke so much of my hair. I thought it was odd when she was blowing my hair out that she paused and told me she liked to tell her clients when she sees new growth and that I had a lot of it. I thought oh well cool that's nice to hear but then when I got home and put my hair up, I had so many "baby hairs" everywhere that I most definitely did not have before she touched my hair. She then cuts my hair. My hair was long and decently thick for fine hair. It was at the very bottom of my boobs and I told her I am growing out my hair and to just trim and clean up the u shape and that I like minimal long layers and that I hate short layers with long hair and I hate thinning shears because I like a more blunt look. When she dried my hair and pulled it to the front, my right side of the hair was an 1-1/2 shorter than the left and there were short layers and it just looked so choppy. She then proceeds to say that I am wrong about needing the thin ing shears and she starts to do it without my permission. I then see a huge chunk in the front of my hair due to this. I told her she had to stop and then she said I could come back another day so she could fix it and then left to go to her next client. I thought it was quite crazy to have her fix my hair when she was the one who damaged it so I had the educator fix it. She did a nice job but I hated the short layers still. But in all, I now have thinner hair/ less volume, lost 3-1/2 inches in total with them (went to a new hair stylist yesterday who cut it EXACTLY how I wanted and like but now in total to fix what Athena did to me, I have lost a total of 5 inches), I have recolored my hair because the color just wasn't great, AND I didn't even get my money back so I am out $500 dollars. I write this mostly to warn other ladies to choose a different stylist. She says she has 11 years experience and she seemed completely sober that day so I have no idea how it could have turned out so badly but just choose someone else and if anything, another hair salon. Also, Athena never apologized to me. Be careful! read more

Booked an appointment based on my car maintenance appointment and had multiple bookings n cancellations days before the appointment. Multiple issues occurred on my end and theirs but instead of providing a first time client a one time courtesy of not charging 100% of the service cost ($87) they chose to keep the money and refused to find any other way to help with the situation. Especially when I had said I'm more than happy to come in later or come in on another day with the same stylist. I will never be coming here and will tell everyone I know as well. This was a horrible experience. No humanity or grace. Please go to a small business mom n pop shop that have more kindness towards their clients. read more

where do I even start.... today I sat in a chair for SIX HOURS while a stylist completely highlighted my entire head, after I simple only asked for a FEW light pieces. when I explained that I wasn't satisfied, she tried again. to which it came out worse than before. She then bursted into tears, had to leave the chair and go get a different stylist to come help her. they suggested a THIRD round of bleaching and toning. I objected kindly and explained that I no longer felt confident in the process and would like them to just take me back to my natural color to the best of their ability. after my original stylist came back with brown dye, she applied, washed, and blow dried without ever asking me if the color was accurate, check in on my satisfaction, or explain what she was putting on my hair to fix the problem. Extremely unsatisfied, I headed to the counter where the young lady very rudely said that I was responsible for paying for every. single. service. they did, despite leaving with a less-than ideal version of my natural hair, three rounds of damage done to my hair, and after their stylist completely lost her composure and made a scene in the middle of the salon -- FOR OVER $500. I obviously said I'm not paying for the services and left. NOW, I'm simply trying to ask the stylist over her IG, her preferred mode of communication, what she added to my hair at the end (permanent or gloss) so that I can communicate it to someone else to fix it. AND SHE WON'T GIVE ME AN ANSWER. This is, by far, the worst experience I've ever had at a hair salon. read more

On a small window of time, I took a chance with Audrey here at Indigo Child without any knowledge of the place. I was pleasantly surprised. My first experience getting my hair dyed and it was terrible. Attached are the photos I sent to my stylist (months ago) along with the result. I wanted all the ends blonde and balayage. I left with tiger stripe highlights. When I asked my stylist to fix it, she blamed me and said that it was a miscommunication and that she was sticking to my "budget constraints." Both of which were lies. She went over budget with me, it was high but I said If that's what it costs, let's do it! I was also told that if I didn't like anything she would fix it for free. Instead I was told I would have to pay for another "custom lightening session." I spoke to the manager about this and she did not empathize at all and continued to gaslight me. They would not offer any way to remedy the situation other than for me to pay more money. I paid $425 with tip. After getting consultations at other salons I'm also learning this is wildly overpriced. I'm not one to leave poor reviews but I don't want anyone else to get taken advantage of. read more

I am sitting here in the chair realizing if I had just moved to Dallas all over again I'd be so grateful to read continuously positive reviews so I could be introduced to a salon as consistent and solid as this. I'm so confident in the talents of everyone at this salon that even if Sarah were booked up and I needed a last minute cut I wouldn't hesitate to book with any one of these stylists (artists). I've seen over the years how Sarah takes such an investment and encourages her team to grow to their fullest potential. Every time I come in for an appointment it seems she has evolved her technique and her social media accounts are always posting about the classes and workshops the staff attend regularly to ensure they're up to speed and trained on what's new in hair color/cutting/styling techniques. Did I mention Sarah is the only person to be able to lift 15+ years of black box dye off my hair? Do not miss the opportunity to let Indigo Child totally pamper you and bring out the fullest potential of your hair cut and color. UPDATE 2019: how could I leave out that these gals give the best blow outs ever after a cut! I've visited plenty of dry bars across Texas, CA, Boston and no blow out I've ever paid for comes close to the sleek straight or loose effortless curls/waves Sarah and her team achieve. I've realized I get my hair cut more often than I used to just to plan my hair do/blow out around various events or special occasions. In the past at other salons I may have loved my cut but would have to go home and restyle my hair -- well, definitely not the case a I cannot emphasize enough just how talented Sarah is at cutting and styling hair. It's seriously a supernatural gift or something! Sarah popped up on my Instagram feed one day and I immediately was drawn to the choppy cuts and styles. There was a consistency with the cuts among the different clients and so I had a feeling I'd walk out happy. I couldn't believe the results after my first visit. Too often I've experienced botched haircuts or cuts that were just less than stellar and nothing like I'd expected - Sarah's choppy, textured, edgy cut on me was beyond my expectations. Today was my second visit and I was nervous that I over-hyped myself from the first cut, but I think I'm even more impressed now and am so relieved to have found a consistent stylist. I had her cut side-swept bangs this time and I'm usually quite particular - but she nailed them, no problem. You can tell she cares about every cut and has an eye for detail. She is SO good at creating texture. The experience starts out with a nice, long wash and scalp massage and then Sarah gets to work. She's bubbly, easy to talk to and funny - bonus points. Well...my review for this place is long overdue, but I believe I found my go-to salon in Dallas! I have been to Indigo Child three times and booked appointments with three different stylists: the first was a haircut + conditioning treatment with Alexis, the second was a gloss + conditioning treatment with Shaina, and the third was another gloss appointment + conditioning treatment with Joyce. Indigo Child definitely provides a luxurious experience from start to finish; on my most recent visit, I requested a complimentary mimosa which was DELICIOUS. I remember Alexis did a great job with my haircut and was really sweet to talk to. Shaina toned my hair to the perfect shade of brown; however, it ended up washing out and looking really brassy really quickly (in less than a month or so). During my most recent appointment with Joyce, she was extremely attentive in listening to my hair concerns and providing recommendations on what I could do to maintain healthier hair. She also toned my hair to a very dark brown which was exactly on par with what I asked for. Indigo Child also has a pretty lenient return policy when it comes to products; the first few products I bought from the salon didn't really do anything for my hair, but they let me exchange them for a new set of stylist-recommended products that ended up working much better the second time around. I was extremely lucky to hit a home run with Indigo Child and would recommend this salon to anyone. read more

I've been going to Sarah for more than 4 years. She is absolutely a hair goddess. From highlights to bayalage to color, cut & style she is amazing. Every time I leave the salon my hair looks perfect, I especially love the beachy wave look. Booking online is a snap. Her website is very convenient and user friendly. I usually make appointments close to when I need my hair done because of my crazy life schedule and she always finds time to accommodate me. She absolutely has the best staff. I look forward to my appointment just to see them and chitchat. When I first started going to Sarah my hair was damaged and the color wasn't the blonde I wanted. I was always wearing extensions because my hair was so thin and brittle. I can now finally say that my hair is the blonde I've been looking for for years. It is healthy & strong again and I never have to wear my extensions. I get so many compliments on my cut and color. All of the other stylists seem extremely experience too. The manager made an interesting business decision as she decided to charge my wife the full price of a cut when she cancelled the appointment because she had COVID. Instead of eating the money on this appointment and ensuring a loyal client and flow of cash for future appointments, this manager and salon chose instant gratification. My wife could've kept the appointment and spread COVID to the entire salon but she chose the moral decision. Sad to say that Indigo Child didn't. I was in search for a new hairstylist in the Bishop Arts area and found this cute salon with reasonable prices. The atmosphere is so welcoming and all the staff is extremely attentive. I came in for a women's cut and Drew did not disappoint. She was so mindful of my hair goals and walked me through the entire process, something that I have not personally experienced from my previous hair stylist.
