I had just moved to Dallas and was looking for a new salon. There are a ton of reviews about Jake on here so I booked an appointment with him. It was his last appointment of the day and I could tell he was rushed. Instead of actually dying all my hair blonde and taking the time he had me sit in purple shampoo for like 15 minutes so it looked okay when I left (and tipped) but the next day I could tell not much had been done. I just felt like I didn't even get my hair done. Had to go to another salon and spend another $200 the next week. Beware of the glowing reviews... wont be going back. read more

My long time hair dresser, John Vega made a move to this salon just two weeks ago. I was reluctant at first because the salon he had been at was small, friendly, and quaint. My fears were put to rest. larc is large, friendly, and stylish! Knowing John's demand for knowledgeable, capable, professional staff, I knew his move was founded. Everyone was nice, not at all stuffy, and performed their jobs with attention and efficiency. As for John, I believe the move has paid off. My cut had an extra umph to it, an extra level of inspiration! I have received so very many compliments this last week, including one from the hairdresser at my niece's wedding. It's the first thing she commented on! If you are looking for a detail oriented stylist, look no further. John will also pull no punches in referring you to a style that fits not only your facial structure, but your personality and the amount of time you are willing to put into your hair. (Mine is zero time, lol). His shampoo is a thing of note. Prepare to relax and feel as if you just got an hour long massage. Jake. He's the one. I'm new to Dallas, came out of COVID in desperate need of a skilled stylist to resurrect me from the muck. I searched yelp for salon, admittedly filtered for 3 "$$$" knowing that I'd have to take a risk on someone. First found Larc then when I called and said that I need someone who has years of experience and can do more with my hair than I can understand, they paired me with Jake. They disclosed that he had moved from Denver not too long ago but had an extensive and credible book of business. I said ok! Best cut, best color, best time in the chair. He gave me the perfect little sun kissed look and a low bob that I can manage and style very easily. And he's just a really cool, really good-looking, really sweet, very trustworthy stylist. He's really a beautiful man who knows exactly what he's doing with both you and your hair. He is taken relationship wise, but for your hair--he's the one. read more

The salon is hard to find but thankfully I used Yelp photos to figure out the location. I made an appointment to have my hair colored. On the morning of the appointment, I called to see if someone could trim my bangs. I should have booked it in advance but I didn't, my mistake. I was told that there was someone available before my appointment, so I left work a little early to make it in time. 15 minutes before the time they provided me, they called to say the stylist left early for a doctors appointment. I was slightly frustrated that there was no one else available to take 10 minutes to trim my bangs in an entire salon of people. Anyway, my colorist was nice and did my color correctly. I also don't understand that you only get your hair styled if you get it cut, not colored. So my options were to walk out with wet hair or fix it myself at a standing station. I opted to dry it quickly to check the color, but not style it since I was just going home. My frustration continued when I called the next day to make another appointment. This time, I was booking 7 weeks out for both a cut and a color. Yet again, I was able to make a color appointment but my only option for a cut would be before the color, in which I wouldn't have my hair styled so I couldn't check the cut. Unfortunately with all of these booking issues, I will not be returning. I've never had such trouble trying to get my hair done! read more

Warning: you're about to pay to style your own hair. I'm new to the salon and informed the receptionist of this when calling to book a color appointment; she never mentioned to me that color services are just a color. Once my color was painted, I waited 40 minutes for someone to come get me to wash my hair and when she was finished I was led into a corner where a mess of products, brushes and a hair dryer were lying. She left me and I inferred I was supposed to dry and style my own hair. No one explained to me what the different products were for and I had to ask for a curling iron to style my hair. I have never had to do my own hair at a salon, especially when paying for color services. read more

Super Loud!!! Chaotic zoo atmosphere and way too many people for the space. My long time colorist just moved to this new location and I hate it. My experience there today was bad. Chaotic and crowded, super loud, no personal attention, no one even could hand me a smock or point me to a bathroom. There are only 5 shampoo chairs and a wait at 12 noon on a Friday to get one. One blow drying station and 4 girls waiting to use it so I left with sopping wet hair after paying $115 plus tip for service. Love my colorist but I cannot stomach this place. I loved my visit here. From the time I walked in the door and the wonderful smell of the salon hit me until long after I left I felt relaxed. The salon is beautiful and comfortable. Rasheena colored and cut my hair. She is great! She completely changed my hair to a much more up to date look. She is a very nice lady. The staff are all very professional and nice. Larc is a great oasis in the hussble and bussle of McKinney Avenue. All the staff that I interacted with was very friendly and helpful and a hot cup of coffee was waiting for me as I walked in. If you are looking for an amazing colorist, go for Ryan. He does a wonderful job but keep in mind that he is a colorist only and does not cut hair but is happy to offer suggestions of other stylists at the salon who may suit your needs. Larc is gorgeous on the inside with exposed pipes, heavy wood and a very rustic feel. Prices are competitive and they definitely have my business for many years to come. read more

I've been coming to larc for about a year now and absolutely love it! I had been going to the same stylist at home for several years and was very nervous about finding someone new when I moved here. I found them based on the product lines they sell. Initially I was a little hesitant about having to see someone for my hair color and someone different for my cut but it has worked out great! Angela has been cutting my hair and Katy has been doing my color. I would highly recommend either one of them. Katy has been great as I move from red to blonde and probably eventually back to a darker color, it is always looking natural! In the beginning it was a little annoying having to dry my own hair after a color or remember to book a blowout but I have gotten used to it and it doesn't bother me anymore. It is always nice to have the complimentary valet out front when I don't want to look for parking, but I always make sure I have a couple dollars for the guys....they are also always on their game (rain or shine, even in the middle of summer). read more

Tamie Kettle is the colorist extraordinaire in this cool and relaxing salon that is definitely not the "seen and be seen" place I steer clear of. Great location off McKinney that allows for a little walkabout to the Apple Store, Crate and Barrel, Wild about Harry's or...wait this is about my 'do. I got sidetracked. Anyway, the girls at the front are very welcoming and patient when you are trying to book your next appt. but can't quite pull it together (not that I would know anything about that.) Parking is my biggest issue. Like there isn't any. You have to valet which really chaps my hide. But the valet guy is very nice and speedy so it won't keep me from going back. If you need to get you hair looking fab then go to LARC and enjoy the oooohs and ahhhs to come. read more

When I moved to Dallas 4 years ago, I thought "This is the land of blondes! Surely anybody can take my naturally dirty blonde hair to light summer blonde!" I was wrong. The other salon in town that I tried did an okay job, but it was nothing like what I was used to. So, for three years, I drove back to OKC every time I need partial highlights. That was until I met Crystal at larc! The color is perfect, and the price point is super reasonable. (I think $100 for partial highlights with no blow dry?) She definitely knows what she's doing. A couple heads ups: she does have a tendency to run a little late. So do I, so it's never bothered me, but if you're on a tight schedule, you might want to book with 20 minutes to spare. Also, the guy who operates the valet (which is essentially your only parking option) is an absolute doll who never fails to tell me how great my hair looks and insists on opening my door even if my car's parked right in front (read: even though it's free, have an extra couple dollars in your pocket. I have been following Kirsten Mitchell, my stylist, through 3 salons over the span of 8 years and this is my favorite one. The valet parking is free and they offer you a beverage of your choice upon arrival. From green tea to red wine, I love what they offer. I never use styling products at home because I am always touching my hair and hate when it feels overly styled and processed, but I actually love the products here. Jake - new hire from Denver CRUSHED it. Very thorough / asks questions so you walk out with what you want and also just very talented. Knew when to thin, when to texture, when to leave as is based off of hair texture. I cut 7 inches and I was crazy nervous. I do not like short hair, just wanted to try something new but the cut is objectively awesome and im having so much fun with it. Haircut took under 40 minutes including g the consult (was my first time with this person), wash, cut and blow dry. They lost my jacket for a few minutes which they said "happens al the time" but not to worry I would get it back so "go take a seat and wait". I booked an appointment with Rachel over a month ago. She messages me to let me know A WEEK before (literally 7 days) the appointment that she would charge me $120 per hour for my service and that she booked me for 6 1/2 hours ($780!!!!). I went to a hair consultation in August and this was not mentioned at my consult. I have extremely curly hair and I explained this to her prior to booking the consultation. I sent her pictures of my natural hair and my hair straight, she was well informed. She said she can do curly hair but this whole exchange has me feeling like she didn't feel like being bothered with my hair. I told her I did not feel comfortable moving forward with the service and she did not apologize at all. So terribly disappointed. read more

I have been going to LARC for a couple years now, and have always been pleased with my experience. I have normally been going to Amanda, and she has always done an amazing job with my hair. She is a newlywed, however, and has recently been traveling a lot with her husband, so I have had to make appointments with other colorists. Since I have always loved every colorist at LARC, I was not worried about scheduling an appointment with someone I have not previously seen. I made an appointment with Eva (coincidentally on New Years Eve and my birthday) and I was unfortunately pretty sad about the experience. All in all, my hair didn't look TERRIBLE, but it was not what I wanted. When I expressed my concerns, she tried to convince me that it looked good and it was "exactly" like the pictures I showed her (which it did not and still does not). When I asked her to please use a toner on my roots, she reluctantly agreed after saying she didn't have time. I scheduled an appointment for 2 days later to do a color fix, but when I returned she told me that there was nothing she could do to my hair and I should just wait it out until the color fades - all the while STILL trying to convince me it looked great and I shouldn't touch it. My point is, whether or not my hair looked "great" or not, it was NOT what I wanted. If a stylist has to try and convince their client that their hair looks good, that's probably not a good start. It was extremely frustrating and rude. It might look good for some people, but it was not what I asked for. She barely seemed to care about my concerns at all. Being told just to wait until the color "fades into a more caramel color" (not sure how that will happen when its not caramel to begin with) is upsetting, especially because I go to college out of town and can't regularly make trips to Dallas. I will be cringing every time I look in the mirror for the next couple months until I can completely die my hair to fix it. PS - if you can make an appointment with Amanda, she is great. I can't tell you how happy I am with my team at l.a.r.c - Brittany Patterson and Nina Briese. Brittany is a master at color and my hair looks amazing, natural and feels fantastic. The color never fades and my highlights are perfect. She takes the time to get to know you & your hair and her suggestions are always spot on. I completely trust her with my hair. Nina is this curly girl's savior. Transitioning from wearing my hair straight to embracing my curls was a longer process due to a bad cut from another salon. Nina was amazing during the entire process and I can't thank her enough for her patience and those mad, magical Deva skills. She cuts straight hair, too! I heard about this salon from a friend and have been going for 2 years now. I love Pam Medina!! She has helped me look my best each time I see her. I often don't quite know what I want and she helps talk me through my ideas and gives me advice on what she thinks will look best on my face shape. I will just go into the appointment with a general idea and a few pictures and she will make sure it looks good! I recently decided to go short for summer (which is a big change for me) and she was very vocal about how short the style would be so I would be happy with the overall product, which I can appreciate...because it turned out amazing! The salon is so bright inside and I really enjoy going. The entire staff is friendly and they make sure you are having the best experience. I've been going to LARC since they opened and absolutely love it! The salon is beautifully decorated and so clean and nice! The commentary valet parks your car and pulls it around quickly when you are ready to leave, and the staff is very friendly and helpful. I get my hair cut by Amy, who always does a great job! She manages to cut and blow out my hair in less time than all the stylists I've gone to in the past, and she does a much better job! I highly recommend this great spot! read more

L.a.r.c. Salon is filled with mediocre salon services except for 1 or 2 people there. It's made up of owners/stylists/colorists that have job hopped other salons and back stabbed renowned Dallas salons, and taken their clientele. They do not provide good customer service and actually blame clients for hitting them in the head with a blow dryer or not removing color from the hair line before you walk out their door. A stylist there almost ruined my natural hair color and I only do a partial highlight! Stay away unless you want to pay triple the price for mediocre service, bad customer service and they feel like they are doing you a favor to step foot in their arrogant salon. They do not understand customer service. read more
