I searched for a place nearby that offered Korean Digital perms. I had done a little research myself on the perm but was misinformed via the internet. I initially I tried to get in touch with the salon via the website via email; never got a response. Then I tried on the IG handle, never a response. I called, no answer. Last I texted the number as indicated on the website; no response. Literally day 3 of trying to get an appointment I called again and a man picked up. I told him I had tried numerous times to get a hold of someone on getting information on the digital perm. He apologized and asked what I was looking to do. I told him I texted the pictures via the number so he said hold on, he saw the pictures and told me that the stylist I had shown him was in fact Nayoung and that I needed to book a consultation to get a price. So I agreed to come in; there was a little bit of a language barrier with him. He's very kind but it was difficult trying to completely understanding one another. I got a date set and I came in. I wouldn't say I loved my experience here but it also wasn't bad. At the end of the day I did get what I asked for but the experience itself wasn't spectacular. The salon itself is very spacious, beautiful and clean. The staff is very kind, especially the assistants. The man I spoke with was at the front desk; he's so kind. He gave me a jacket to put on and then took me to the chair and introduced me to Nayoung and another lady. I was given a tray of water and Korean snacks. They asked what I was wanting picture wise so I showed them the ones I had saved. This is where the internet did me wrong; Nayoung explained with my fine hair texture the picture I was wanting was in a sense unattainable. And that the picture also is a styled look, not what it would actually look like once permed. I was disappointed to hear this, but she told me they could still do it and that with hot rollers and product I could almost achieve the look and that the perm would help hold the style better. She asked about the previous chemical treatments I had had, and I told her about my most recent one. I did fail to mention my balayage from over three years ago ( that was completely my fault ). She told me that with digital perms you cannot put it on previous lightened hair so there was a moment where we weren't sure it would happen with the digital perm. So for my bang area she used a cold perm. Before starting the service they came at me with a written estimate to sign, it was $500. I get it my hair is long but it's thinner than most people's. I had read online that hers started around $350 so initially I was taken back by the price. But they had literally already dampened my hair to start and then were like is this okay. I didn't even have time to react; I just agreed. So that part was not very pleasant because I felt pressured in that moment. But of course I agreed and she told me she had to cut off dead ends, I asked immediately if that would cost more and she said it was included. So she cut my hair and then her and her assistants/team got to work. Another thing I was not aware of, I thought booking with Nayoung she would be doing my hair solely, no mam, I had 7 different people in my hair. They did a good job at the end of it, I was just not expecting that. The other ladies were great though. I just personally feel it takes away from the experience with your stylist, I really didn't get to chat with Nayoung at all, nor did I see her much. She was multi-tasking tending to about 6 other clients. Haircuts, perms, color, etc. She was with me in greeting, then cut my hair for 5 minutes, came in and out a few times when the other girls applied the perm, rollers, and heat; then I saw her at the very end got a hug and then was kinda rushed out in a sense. I just didn't feel like my business mattered in that experience. I go back to the gentleman up front so he can take pictures and so I can pay. I also had to bring it upon myself to ask questions on the aftercare. I was then told not to get it wet for 48 hours. Then told to air dry with cream and use hot rollers and product to achieve the look I wanted. Wasn't informed on a specific shampoo to use. Had every intention on purchasing the cream she talked about but because I felt rushed I forgot to ask if I could purchase it in house. I later texted the number if I could purchase the cream there or where I could buy it from; and I got a response later in the evening just reading, you can buy. So I just got some supplies elsewhere. They did the perm, it looks great, I'm excited to wash my hair tomorrow and use the rollers and I guess then I will see if it was all worth it. But being honest for my first visit here with a new service I'd give a 3/5 just on customer service in the initial booking, consult and lack of aftercare information given. I gave a 4/5 because the staff was very kind and they all worked together to give a great end result. read more

Booked a 3:00 PM appointment and arrived at 2:45. By 3:20 I was still waiting with no acknowledgment. When I asked, I was told "10 more minutes" and another 10 minutes passed and still nothing. No apology, no check-in, no updates at any point. I came in excited based on the strong reviews here, but the complete lack of communication was the real issue. Running behind happens at any salon; ignoring a waiting customer for 40+ minutes is a choice. If you book an appointment here, don't expect it to mean much. From making an appointment and arrival, I am very pleased with my experience. I scheduled a keratin treatment and they looked over my hair and thank you for letting me know your professional advice and also the price before beginning. They were professional and I was amazed how much teamwork they do here. They all jump in and help out every client. For a treatment that can take much longer on my thick hair, they got me done in 2 hours because 2-3 different people were helping when they could. I had high expectations for this salon and booked an appointment with Nayoung after hearing great things about her skills. I drove an hour to get there, hoping for a professional experience. Unfortunately, I left extremely disappointed--and without getting my hair done at all. After arriving on time and checking in with the receptionist, I sat in the waiting area for 45 minutes. During that time, multiple people received service, including walk-ins or clients who didn't appear to have appointments. Eventually, I was brought to a chair, only to wait another 15 minutes while Nayoung continued working on several other clients. She seemed to be juggling at least seven people at once, even stepping in to finish parts of services that other stylists had started. After waiting a full hour with no service or update, I decided to leave. It was clear my time wasn't being respected. While Nayoung may be a talented stylist, the management of this salon is unacceptable. Overbooking appears to be a routine issue--at one point, I saw multiple appointments double and even triple-booked on the scheduling screen. Leaving clients to wait indefinitely with no communication or apology is frustrating and unprofessional. I've also noticed that some reviews mention concerns about racial bias in how clients are treated. Personally, I don't think that's the issue here. From my perspective, this is simply a case of poor operational management--not anything related to ethnicity. If this salon wants to maintain a good reputation, they need to seriously improve their scheduling practices and overall customer service. Sadly, I won't be returning. read more

I have never left a yelp review before but I was so pleased that I just had to. Our family moved to the Fort Worth area recently and I needed a new stylist. I found NaYoung's salon on yelp and decided to try them out. May I just say, I am so happy I did. They cut out of a beautiful salon called Salon D and I was assigned Jennie. I was really thrilled with her work. She was so sweet and friendly and listened to what I was saying. She really takes her time and makes sure that you are satisfied. I can't wait to see her again for some balayage. She has a return customer in me! Oh, and here is something I found out about tipping if you use your card -Those tips go to the salon and not the stylist! So make sure to tip your stylist with cash! Also, I never requested a perm + my hair is not damaged (my profile photo depicts healthy BLONDE hair recently done by another salon) - if you don't specialize in blonde hair, just say that- it's ok to not know or specialize in everything. I sought out Nayoung and her team after perusing the internet for the best digital perm in the Dallas area. It was my first hair treatment, so I was very nervous. I brought a few pictures and videos of what I wanted, and Nayoung was able to accomplish exactly what I had in mind! I was looking for a blowout-style perm with big, loose curls. It has now been about five weeks. My curls pretty much look the same as when I first got them. They tell you how to best manage your hair afterwards, which includes not washing your hair for a few days (I went a week without getting it wet), not tying your hair back for a couple of weeks, and using the Korean conditioner I purchased from the salon after I wash my hair. (I tried uploading pictures but Yelp won't let me) She has a group of students working with her, which, as a student myself, I enjoyed and appreciated, as all of them were very attentive to me and eager to learn. Everyone was very understanding of my nervousness and answered all of my questions with patience. One student shared with me that among hair students, it is known that Nayoung is the best in the area when it comes to digital perms. It cost me $350, not including tip or the conditioner I purchased. Yes, it was pricey. But having said that, if I were to do the digital perm again, I would go back to Nayoung, who I now trust and have a positive experience with, rather than try out someone new that I don't trust.
