First off extremely friendly staff. Always stop here, because of them. This is a really laid back location. Also the customer service is high. I'm glad this is where my son and I get dinner after skiing Liberty or Roundtop. We always have the munchies after a day on the slopes. Here we can catch our breath a bit. This one might need a remodel, as it is an older location. With that being said it's comfortable enough for us two guys. There's room at the tables, and the restaurant is very clean. Considering it does a decent business, kudos although breakfast is my favorite. Tonight the roast beef sandwiches were good. The fries and sodas provided us a boost. Prices are up considerably. Very rude staff, one male employee rolled his eyes when i ordered pancakes at 1020, 10 minutes before breakfast ends, insisting they would have to make more batter. I said that's fine, and the rolled his eyes and stormed off. Other workers were also rude, and food was cold and not like the pictures. read more

HORRIBLE!! Went through the drive-thru and asked for a 3-piece chicken meal. I asked for two thighs and a chicken breast. One of the employees stated it will be an 18-minute wait for the dark meat. That's fine. Went inside and ordered my food and informed the cashier about the 18-minute wait for dark meat. She said okay. I waited for 20 minutes. I asked for my order update, the manager said the cook wasn't informed about COOKING the dark meat! How was the cook wasn't informed about cooking the chicken? It's after 6pm, especially during dinner hours. It will take another 16 minutes to cook the chicken. You can't be serious. I was EXTREMELY pissed!!! Waited another 16 minutes. My elderly father absolutely loves this restaurant. He has been a fan of the Roy Rogers chains ever since I was a baby and he is a devoted customer. We actually live an hour away from this location and he makes special road trips just to visit. Today we went because it was his 78th birthday and that's where he wanted to have lunch. One thing that makes me mad is a wrong drive-thru order. Today at this location it was a little windy so it was a little hard to hear everything. I put my order in and she repeated back correctly. When I pulled around she double check on my order to make sure heard it correctly. Before she took payment. She was asked to double check. I like the way they all took the time to make sure it was right . I would have not have been happy if I went down the road five minutes and found my order wrong. I've been stopping here for well over 10 years when visiting Thurmont. Service is always efficient and friendly. Restaurant has always been clean. Fast food is what it is but Roy Rogers is just a little better experience. If you in the area, you'll want to stop here! We have stopped at this Roy Rogers a few times on our way to Pennsylvania. When we get to Thurmont, it is usually around lunch time and this Roy's has easy access from Route 15. Heading northbound on Route 15, it is at the first Thurmont exit. I've always been a fan of Roy's roast beef sandwiches. They are consistently good with rare roast beef and just enough au jus sauce to accent the flavor. I rate their roast beef as being far better than Arby's. Since the closest Roy's to where we live is in Leesburg, we rarely go these days. So, passing through Thurmont gives us an excuse to stop in! The staff here has always been friendly and efficient. They keep the place clean and the fixings bar is always well stocked with fresh veggies. A big plus---the bathrooms are always clean. Many times with fast food places, this is not the case. It's easy to find off Route 15. If you are heading northbound, at the end of the exit ramp, make a right. When you get to the traffic light, make another right and you will immediately see it. It's next door to a High Up which has a gas station. We will most definitely stop in again next time we head to Pennsylvania! read more

As a treat we stopped here on the way home from a trip to VA, not many are left up in PA. Nothing fancy here, location was reasonably clean with the usual charm of an Roy Rogers. Food was fresh, the fries were plentiful and golden. Burger was really good. The soda machine had Cherry Coke and Pibb Xtra! Worst service ever. 30 minutes to receive food through the drive-thru. Car after car went through behind us. Nothing came for us. After 15 minutes, went inside to ask. "We are working on it". Going inside defeats the purpose of the drive-thru. Once the four burger meals and chicken dinner finally came, multiple trips had to be made by the employee as they forgot condiments, straws, napkins etc. Drinks were water down as they gave us those in the beginning. No apologies for the $50 worth of food and the service. Food ended up being cold after all that time. My family has been coming here for years. We will not be returning. read more

I grew up with Roy Rogers in Montgomery County. After they closed all the ones down there, I found em up here in Frederick County. Fantastic burgers and fries. Plus, even though they've got high school kids that work here they appear to be focused on the customer unlike many other fast food choices. read more

Excellent is all I can say. The food was fresh, hot, and tasted good. The service (although they were VERY busy) was excellent. Everyone was very nice and kind. I noticed everyone trying their best, which was surprising for fast food. It really seemed liked everyone cared. In fact one lady came around and asked if we needed anything and handed out mints. The place was very clean. I would compare the service at this place to a Chick-fil-a (but for burgers). It's a tad on the expensive side, but you get what you pay for. read more

This most recent trip, I had to wait in the drive through line for more than 15 mins and when I finally got my food, the Hi-C I ordered was severely watered down. The food is what it is, fast food. I stop by Roy's in Thurmont often when I'm traveling to and from Pa for business. I always use the drive through just because I'm generally pressed for time. The food is typical "Roy's quality" or slightly better. What prompted me to write the review is how consistently polite the the staff has been. I've stopped here 5-6 times a year for the past 5 years. The staff has always been polite. That's something you don't get too often at most fast food places! Only 4 stars because of prices are bit on the high side but I'll pay a few extra bucks for politeness any day! read more

They ran out of chicken which is a main food they have there, they ran out of baked potatoes, lids do not fit cups, and ran out of batter for chicken also. Kids liked their chicken strips. Hubby loves the burgers. I like that they have fresh toppings (lettuce, tomato, pickle, etc) for you to be able to fix your burger the way you want it and now how someone else makes it. Fries are ok but nothing fancy. I was at Roy Rogers in Thurmont, Md on Tues, September 4th at 4:30pm. Good food, but the young lady who was fixing the food had her hair dangling down over the food and she was sweeping her hair away from her face with her gloved hands and then touched the food. Stopped in after a trip to PA. Double R Bar burger is great, beef is fresh, ham is juicy. Fries were hot and crisp. The best part though was the strawberry milkshake. I had not had a shake at Roy's for a very long time as the locations are few. I was expecting a McDonalds style machine milkshake.
