I started going to Roy Rogers as a little boy in the 1970s. It's a nostalgic place for me. This location upholds all the traditions: good service, making things right, fried chicken with so much bread and salt you start peeling it off halfway through, and a fixins bar with every topping and sauce you could possibly want. Lunch and dinner I'm not a fan of anymore. This could be on me, but I'm tired of the roast beef sandwiches. Their burgers are decent for fast food, but I wish they'd expand their menu offerings more. Best time is breakfast. The made from scratch pancakes are delicious. Also the bacon and other sides are pretty sweet. I do like stronger coffee, but it works for general purposes. This is a clean establishment. As for the drive thru it is for the most part quick. I usually dine in and like the decor. There's probably some nostalgia that makes me happy. Roy Roger's would be proud, and when in the area, I usually do breakfast here. With today's inflation it's a viable choice. Parking is a cinch and the employees are friendly. read more

I like Roy rogers food. I don't like the staff. Tonight I walked in 1 hour before closing. I ordered a cheeseburger and fries. Simple. They were super annoyed that I was even there and Those lazy jerks told me it would take 10 minutes to make my burger. I said, fine, I'll wait as I watched the disappointment on the lazy clerk's face. I then made them make me fries with no salt. And then everything was given to me I asked for salt. Then I laughed. I used to love RR! We stop at this RR on our way to a doctor appointment at the hospital. We actually live in Winchester so it's an hour drive. I was encouraged to see the 3 1/2 star rating. It was disappointing. Coffee was cold. Breakfast sandwiches were lukewarm warm. Potato's were cold. We were pressed for time so I didn't have time to wait for them to make everything fresh. On a positive note as we were leaving they had fresh hot coffee for refills. Staff was nice. Just would have preferred fresh hot food. read more

Stopped in here yesterday, Oct. 22,2024 with my Aunt. We ordered at 1:11pm, 2 cheeseburgers, 1 fry, 1 onion rings, 1 soda & 1 orange creamsicle milkshake. Right off we were told they were out of the milkshake but did have other flavors. No problem, make it chocolate. At 1:30, I checked on our order - no luck. At 1:35, again no food & they don't know where our order is......... Asked for our money back, the guy had to call someone to find out how to refund the money back to the credit card. People came in after us, got their orders, ate and left - but no one knew anything about our order even when I gave them our ticket. One person working the front & the drive through, one in back cooking, and one going back & forth without a clue of what he was doing!!! Definitely won't be going back here!!! read more

So this review is going to be a bit unfair. My family likes Roy Rogers a lot. They support local school programs, in fact today they have a car wash for LCHS crew team. Unfortunately, they don't have any real options for vegetarians. I'm a bit tired of eating mac and cheese and fries and cole slaw while my family is able to eat a wide selection of main food options. Chik and others are also bad at the lack of veggie options. Restaurant itself is a bit dated. I've always loved Roy's DoubleRBar Burger - so whenever I get a chance for inhale one - I do! Had a late lunch here today. Got the #3 - "DoubleRBar Burger combo - with small fries and Diet Coke. One of the other reasons I love Roy's is that they offer Horseradish sauce! Everything tastes better with Horseradish. Snagged by burger - hit the fixings bar - added iceberg lettuce, a slice of tomato, onion, and Horseradish sauce to the burger - plus sides of Horseradish and Ketchup for the fries. Delicious! As the child of immigrants, I grew up pretty poor and without the luxury of having my parents around all the time. That being said, any time with them was guaranteed to be a great and I can attribute my undying love for Roy Rogers to my father. Roy's is my original fast food place, I don't even think that I even knew about the existence of McDonalds, Burger King, KFC or Taco Bell until I was in grade school. I was in a Leesburg for a wedding reception when I noticed the Roy Rogers sign on the side of the road and immediately made Rob turn off to the exit. As you probably know, Roy Rogers are rare unicorns in the fast food industry, you don't come along them often! I walked in and was pleasantly surprised to see that not much has changed since I was three years old. I ordered a two piece fried chicken with biscuit and it was just as juicy and delicious as I remembered. The outer skin was super crispy (Rob could hear it crackling in my mouth for a good ten seconds on the other side of the table) and the inside moist. There was even a nice little surprise of spiciness towards the end! The workers were all very nice and several times the manager walked around to make sure that we were enjoying ourselves and even offered us an after chicken mint. I usually try to eat "real" "whole" food as much as possible but I DID not regret my decision to eat here at all. Happy trails to you....until we meet again. read more

Every so often we get a craving for Roy's. It used to be easy to satisfy this craving since there were many other Roy's around. These days, we have to head to Leesburg. When I'm at Roy's, I have to have the roast beef sandwich. IMO, it's much better than Arby's. Arby's tends to use that fake pressed beef while Roy's uses the real thing. It seems to me that at one time Roy's cooked the roast beef rarer but these days it's well done. That's okay. After all, it's plenty juicy and flavorful. My husband likes their burgers. In fact, this time he said he really enjoyed it. We also like the fixin's bar. I like that you can add as much tomatoes, lettuce, pickles and onions as you want. While I like their horseradish sauce, I think it could have a little more kick to it. Also, we like that when you get a combo, you're not restricted to only fries and have your choice of sides. I like their mashed potatoes and gravy. This time it came out piping hot with flavorful gravy. I do hope this Roy's sticks around! read more

Holy crappy service batman. En route to VA for Thanksgiving, we stopped for a quick dinner. The service was TERRIBLE. I usually like Roy Rogers but this experience was the pits. I wanted chicken wings, but none were ready. I had to wait for them. I wanted decaf coffee but I was told there was none and there was no offer to make some. Sandwiches the others ordered looked like they were slapped together by preschoolers (apologies to the preschoolers who can align bun tops, bun bottoms, and sandwich contents). A few days later, after the holiday, we stopped at a Roy Rogers in Thurmont, MD and had a WONDERFUL experience with stellar service. Just like McDonald's there are two Roy Rogers in Leesburg. If you are in the mood for Roy's please do yourself a favor and go to this one. The other one is so god awful, cold food and stupid people. So in my quest to eat al every Leesburg restaurant, I'm reviewing yet another fast food joint in my hometown. This location is better. Not great but better. I've always gotten hot food here and the people seem more attentive over here. I usually get the same every time. The good old Double R burger. This is my alternative to a Big Mac. Not really sure why I like it, it's just a plain burger with a piece of ham on it. My wife and daughter both ordered cheeseburgers and fries. It was a little slow, but it was o.k., there was a large crowd in there so I didn't mind. The food was what you could expect from a fast food joint. Plain and simple. Doesn't seem like many Roy Rogers restaurants survived, but this is one of the few. They only appear to be on the east coast now. Typical Roy's restaurant for this area. Love the fixin's bar.
