You make the best banana splits in Johnstown. They are fantastic. I tried banana splits around Cam County. They are the best.

Who knew that a frozen custard stand that started in Duncansville had such a reach. Checking out the website you will notice that a lot of the locations are franchises, which is the case with this one. This actually replaces the location that was at the cloverleaf. I don't know the reasons for the move, nor do I care. This now sits on Scalp Ave. in the Richland area. It sits in a building that has been everything from a therapy office to a pharmacy. Maybe this one will stick. Right next door is a Em's Sub and I have heard that he owns this as well. What I did find interesting is that there is a swing door connecting the two spaces. So stop in for a sub for your lunch and then swing over and get dessert. The location with inside seating also has outdoor seating and a drive thru. Making for needing an excuse not to get frozen custard nearly non-existent. Check out their website or Facebook page and you will be up to date with their flavors for the week and specials that happen throughout a month. I just happened to stop by when they had peanut butter melt away as a flavor and my god was that delicious. I chose to get mine in a cup instead of a cone, I don't like the mess of a cone. The pic you see is a medium, and that to me is more than enough. The space is clean as could be, and with the white interior it really does give off the feeling of a an old time malt shop. The staff are friendly, and quick as can be. They are accommodating as well.

The Meadows has many stores and has been serving creamy frozen custard for over 60 years. We were promptly waited on by the friendly and helpful staff. We are from Baltimore, Maryland, and I have never had frozen custard. My husband enjoyed a medium cup of Cappuccino Chocolate Chunk and I had the Dirty Turtle in a cone, but they gave me a small cup to keep it all together. The servings were generous and the tastes delicious. We were sold on the custards!

I like the old fashioned candy section: coconut patties, flying saucers, peppermint sticks, and more. The store has an impressive selection of types of candy. This location also has an ice cream shop. I recently found out that they ship their goods. I ordered the cherry cordials 3 days before Mother's Day and they arrived promptly and packaged well--even included free gift wrapping. My only complaint is the prices can be a little steep. However, I don't mind paying extra for homemade items, especially when the quality is consistently great like O'Shea's.

Wow, milkshakes were delicious and creamy! Generous portion and tasted great! This location ships chocolates, here's their website - osheascandies.com Excellent job O'Sheas! Some places are worth building an entire adventure around. Penn State Berkey Creamery is one of…read morethem. As fate would have it, my Adventure Buddy and I found ourselves in State College on National Ice Cream Day, and there was absolutely no way I was leaving town without finally visiting the home of my favorite ice cream flavor ever...Monkey Business (banana ice cream, peanut butter swirl, chocolate chips). I'd fallen in love with Monkey Business last summer after trying it at an ice cream shop close to my house, but somehow I'd never actually made it to the Creamery itself. Correcting that oversight immediately became part of the day's adventure plan! We arrived around 12:30 on a beautiful Sunday afternoon, fully expecting National Ice Cream Day to mean complete chaos. Surprisingly, it wasn't. Busy? Absolutely. But the line moved quickly, everyone seemed to know exactly what they were doing and the whole operation ran like a well-oiled ice cream machine. Then I looked around. Cheese. Sticky buns. Chocolate milk. Bagels. Ice cream. Ice cream. More ice cream. At one point I turned to my Adventure Buddy and said..."I could live here." Ordering couldn't have been easier. First, you tell the cashier whether you're getting a cone, bowl or shake and pay. Then you move down to the ice cream counter, where you pick your flavor. Finally...you wait for your number to be called so someone can hand you what can only be described as an absurdly generous serving of happiness. While I waited, I sampled the Grilled Stickies flavor. Big mistake! It was phenomenal! For approximately fifteen seconds, I seriously considered abandoning my beloved Monkey Business and trying something new. Fortunately...I came to my senses. Monkey Business and I have history together. When my number was called, the gentleman behind the counter handed me a bowl that was significantly larger than I expected. And yes...I audibly squealed. Again. Right there in the middle of the Creamery. I looked at him and said, "You absolutely made my day!" Because he had. We found a table outside on the patio to enjoy the beautiful weather, performed a few completely necessary happy food dances and proceeded to enjoy every glorious bite of what is still, without question, my favorite ice cream flavor on Earth. For only $6. On National Ice Cream Day. Honestly, I don't know how that day could've gotten any better. PRO TIP: Don't skip the sample spoon! There are so many incredible flavors that it's worth trying something new before committing. Just be warned...you may accidentally discover another favorite! I also learned that Berkey Creamery ships ice cream to the lower 48 states. This information feels...dangerous. Living only about an hour and a half away, I probably don't need to have Monkey Business shipped directly to my house. But...I may have to test the process someday. You know...in the name of science! If you're anywhere near State College, do yourself a favor and make the stop. Whether you're a Penn State fan, an ice cream enthusiast or just someone who appreciates an exceptionally well-run small operation, Berkey Creamery absolutely lives up to its legendary reputation. WE ARE...ICE CREAM HEAVEN!

That said, while there are some really wonderful features of their ice cream, particularly the texture of small chocolate chunks they embed, it's not actually the greatest ice cream in existence. When I say this place is unique you just have to visit. It's packed to the walls with inventory. I think they have more fishing gear than two Cabellas or Bass Pro shops combined. It took me awhile just to decide to get our ice cream because I was busy looking at everything they to offer. There is so much inventory that you can't get down some isles without moving things out of the way. Now the Ice cream. They have probably fifty flavors. Okay maybe not quite that many but if you can't find what you want you don't want ice cream. Just go home. Lol. I wanted the grasshopper mint with chocolate but it must be so popular because they was out. So I settled for a double scoop of raspberry chocolate chunk and my daughter got a single scoop of play dough. Ice cream that is. Lol. And we got the pups a cup of vanilla. I mean what furry friend doesn't like a pup cup. It was really really good. I forgot to get a pic of my cone as my hands were kinda full. Did I mention you can order food to eat? Yep. They offer a menu of food. Great place and friendly staff. A must visit.
