Adorable road side ice cream stand a few miles off the highway. Choc Cherry flurry was Yummy!

Amazing! Other than being cash only (completely their prerogative, and it's fine - just inconvenient for me) this is a great place! The Cappuccino Crunch alone is worth the drive! Great servings, great price!

What a great find this summer after visiting Old Bedford Village. A bit nostalgic drive up ice cream stand. Good prices, large portions, good products, quick service. The good feelings of summers gone by. Kudos!

What a find The Penguin was on our recent trip to Bedford County! It's a very good ice cream stand, serving soft serve ice cream and sundaes. We stopped by twice. I had a hot fudge sundae on one visit and a small dish of French Vanilla soft serve on the other. Both very good and ample. They appear to feature flavors of the week. These were Dreamsicle and French Vanilla when we patronized the stand. Scooped ice cream is also available.Open 12:00 to 9:30. The Penguin accepts cash only.

This is such a cute ice cream shop!! Totally worth the detour on your drive. We were driving through getting back to DC when Google Maps sent us the local route, probably to avoid the Labor Day traffic. And we're so glad, because we saw this cute place which was a great stopover to distract our toddler who was starting to get antsy in the car. The flavor options were amazing--including shakes, cones, cups, flurries, or frozen yogurts. The service was very friendly. In the only 20 mins we were there, I was impressed at how many people came for a quick ice cream stop. You can tell this place is loved by locals and visitors alike. I loved how they had a flavor of the day and ordered the peanut butter fudge brownie ice cream in a kiddie cup for only $0.99. Such great value and terrific flavor! We've bookmarked this ice cream shop so we can stop by the next time we're driving through the area and avoid the service rest stops if we're having a hankering for ice cream.

Throw back to an old style, stand alone ice cream stand. Service was quick, and portions large! Worth a summer evening stop!

Go to the other location. We came here looking for the igloo, not realizing there are two…read morelocations, and were sorely disappointed. We're from out of town so we weren't able to drive other to the other location instead. Soft and hard ice cream. A few different soft flavors, Perry's hard ice cream, and all your traditional accoutrements (like dips and sprinkles). They make their own waffle cones, so those were quite good. There's a drive-thru too, which I'm sure is especially nice for rainy days. The pretzel cone sounded good as a unique alternative and the tea-berry soft serve was quite good from the taste that I had. I think our total (for two waffle cones) was ~$10 and the soft serve twist had much less chocolate than vanilla in it.

I'll make this short and sweet…read more.. The Igloo is really quite unique in they make their own waffle cones and ice cream sandwiches using either a chocolate cake, vanilla, oreo cookies or graham crackers, you choose the filling. If you do not want to fill an in house made waffle cone, they also have sugar cones, pretzel cones, chocolate chip cones and the traditional baked cake cones. They have thirty seven flavors to make a flurry, twenty nine plus to make a shake, twenty two varieties of sundaes, not including the banana split or the brownie boat split and what's an upsplit? They make smoothies, slushies, lattes, mochas, sno cones, ice cream sodas and ice cream floats. They will dip your cone in chocolate, peanut butter, blue raspberry, root beer or banana and then fill it with a nice selection of soft serve or homemade hand dipped ice cream in over thirty flavors. They also offer several lactose free hand dipped ice creams. For the frozen yogurt fans they offer a handful of flavors to choose from. The give a little more than The Cow does and charge a little less. http://www.yelp.com/biz/the-cow-alum-bank Both places serve the real deal and both are very good, the Cow offers food and the Igloo does not. The Igloo has two locations, one located in Everett and one in New Paris, really no more than a fifteen minute drive between the two of them. They are open seven days per week, including holidays, March thru October. I had just eaten a large lunch and even had a people bag, but I felt it was my Yelp duty to stop and try their flavor of the day, which was a homemade hand dipped orange and pineapple ice cream, so fruity and creamy with chunks of pineapple throughout. I had to bite the ice cream to eat it because it was so chunky. Delicious stuff, my teeth hurt!
