Slab bacon cut to your thickness. Prices are very reasonable combined with their weekly sales you are sure to find something to your liking. They have a wide variety of jams and spreads. A hidden little gem discovered on our way to PSU to pick up our daughter for her spring break. Thank you for the billboard or we wouldn't have made the exit to find you! I've been going to Fisher's for years and it never disappoints. I will drive 45 minutes for some of their specials, especially because you won't find the variety of lunch meats and cheeses anywhere else. They also have hard-to-find baking items, canned goods and spices, along with brands of chips and snack foods that most stores don't have. I always love the Italian roast beef lunch meat, all the different kinds of Lebanon bologna, Dieffenbach's kettle cooked chips, BBQ corn chips and all of the homemade baked goods and breads there. Their prepared subs are also great, and they always have local produce. This is one of those stores you can't go to when you're hungry-- I've learned the hard way! read more

Fishers is the top of my list for stores in Bedford! They offer lots and lots of local and Amish farmed products. Every time I go to fishers I stumble across something I didn't realize they sold. Fishers has everything from Bulk baking goods, Birch Beer, Bulk Spices, Bulk Candies, Local Honey, Local Bee Pollen, Local Maple Syrup, Coconut Oils, Lots of Gluten free flours, and on an on and on. They also have an amazing Deli with 30+ meats and cheeses as well as fresh Bacon on the slab, and Sausage. If your in Bedford for any reason you have to go to Fishers, Its an amazing little Gem that will not disappoint! read more

Ahhh... Fisher's. Of all the places in Bedford, Fisher's has to be my favorite (possible tie with Hoke-e-Geez.) I moved here a few months ago from crunchy Austin, Texas, home of amazing grocery stores, daily farmer's markets and increasingly specific vegetarian-friendly restaurants (Probiotics? Yes, please!) When I arrived in tiny Bedford, I strolled into the local grocery store and felt my heart break in two. Visiting the "vegetarian" section in the produce aisle was like taking a family vacation to Walley World, only to find it closed. I should have known. What was I thinking? Now what am I going to do? I'm going to starve to death. I won't even make it through my two-year contract. I think I passed a cemetery on my way in, maybe I should go ahead and buy a plot for myself... Deeply saddened and wondering if I could convince my mother to help me drive back to Austin, I turned to the interwebs. I googled. To my incredible relief, I found the Fisher's website, which lists their incredible list of products--quinoa, nutritional yeast, whole wheat lasagna, textured vegetable protein! Stacie food DOES exist in Bedford! Like most places in Bedford, Fisher's shuts down at 5pm on weekdays, but not on FRIDAYS! I couldn't wait to get there and when my three-mile journey finally ended, I was still shocked to find so many good things in such a tiny store. Two full aisles packed with an enormous variety of baking/cooking essentials, snacks, candy, tea, coffee, you name it! I probably spent two hours studying the inventory. I suddenly regretted not bringing two reusable bags with me (rookie mistake.) My boss thinks it's hilarious that I brought both my sister and mother here on their respective visits to my new home, but anyone who likes food (especially cooking their own--and BAKING) could appreciate the selection of fresh produce (kinda sketchy at times, but good prices,) deli meats and cheeses and dry goods. Oh, and they accept credit cards! They aren't credit card snobs like some places--Amex and Discover are both accepted. The ladies (I have yet to see a dude) who work here are very kind and can tell you where everything is (it's easy to overlook items.) Parking is always available, and free llama viewings! My kids love coming here to get ice cream or a bag of candies from inside. The food served at the window is always good, the prices are more than reasonable, and the meats and produce are always really good. The gobs are one of the best things here, so make sure to grab a few! We always come here in the fall too to get our pumpkins. They always have a TON in white and orange, plus gourds in all sizes! Fisher's Country store has a little bit of everything good, including at times a few homemade crafts like clothespin aprons or handtowels hand made to hang from your oven handle. You can find things like old style(new) oil lanterns, and ingredients to make deer jerkey or your own sausage including casings. That said they also have a very wide variety of lovingly stocked items to choose from on the grocery, produce, and product shelves. There is so much good candy on their candy shelf. Some things you don't see day to day anywhere else. A wide variety of flours and candy making supplies... and many options of sprinkles for cake baking. Home made Gobs, pies, breads, and the famous kutztown birch beer are also a great find there. But my favorite thing is when the cases of fruit go on sale... I love to buy the oranges, or the sliced bacon is some of the best around... when it go's on sale, it's best to buy a little thick for the fire, or just right for the pan, and their turkey bacon is also good for roasting over a fire, (get it sliced a little thick, and it will make some of the best campfire sandwhiches! Also check often for the sales on American cheese... we buy it by the block! At prices like 1.99 a lb or 2.19 a lb, it's an awesome buy! What a find! Quality meats and cheese, along with other goodies that you don't find in typical grocery stores. I would not drive three hours just to shop there, but if I were driving through the area, I would make it a priority. They have a large selection of deli cheese, that ranges from standard fare (i.e. swiss, american, cheddar) to more diverse flavors (i.e. colby pepper jack, pepperoni cheese, chipotle cheddar and goat cheese). The deli meats looked great and contained as much diversity as the cheese groups. We ordered a pound of roast beef, which was tender and rare (albeit a little fatty), and two pounds of sweet itailian sausage, which was amazing. They have all types of bulk candy, dried fruit and high quality fresh produce selections. I could have spent all day in this tiny store. The deli prices are considerably lower than you would find at a commercial supermarket, and you would expect to give up a little quality or cleanliness to achieve these price points but the store was clean and food was of high quality. The employees were mostly friendly considering how close it was to closing time upon our arrival. read more
