The Meadows - Peanut butter melt away in a cup.

Who knew that a frozen custard stand that started in Duncansville had such a reach. Checking out the website you will notice that a lot of the locations are franchises, which is the case with this one. This actually replaces the location that was at the cloverleaf. I don't know the reasons for the move, nor do I care. This now sits on Scalp Ave. in the Richland area. It sits in a building that has been everything from a therapy office to a pharmacy. Maybe this one will stick. Right next door is a Em's Sub and I have heard that he owns this as well. What I did find interesting is that there is a swing door connecting the two spaces. So stop in for a sub for your lunch and then swing over and get dessert. The location with inside seating also has outdoor seating and a drive thru. Making for needing an excuse not to get frozen custard nearly non-existent. Check out their website or Facebook page and you will be up to date with their flavors for the week and specials that happen throughout a month. I just happened to stop by when they had peanut butter melt away as a flavor and my god was that delicious. I chose to get mine in a cup instead of a cone, I don't like the mess of a cone. The pic you see is a medium, and that to me is more than enough. The space is clean as could be, and with the white interior it really does give off the feeling of a an old time malt shop. The staff are friendly, and quick as can be. They are accommodating as well.

The Meadows has many stores and has been serving creamy frozen custard for over 60 years. We were promptly waited on by the friendly and helpful staff. We are from Baltimore, Maryland, and I have never had frozen custard. My husband enjoyed a medium cup of Cappuccino Chocolate Chunk and I had the Dirty Turtle in a cone, but they gave me a small cup to keep it all together. The servings were generous and the tastes delicious. We were sold on the custards!

I like the old fashioned candy section: coconut patties, flying saucers, peppermint sticks, and more. The store has an impressive selection of types of candy. This location also has an ice cream shop. I recently found out that they ship their goods. I ordered the cherry cordials 3 days before Mother's Day and they arrived promptly and packaged well--even included free gift wrapping. My only complaint is the prices can be a little steep. However, I don't mind paying extra for homemade items, especially when the quality is consistently great like O'Shea's.

We visited in the evening for ice cream. My oh my, I have never seen a menu with so many options and flavors!!! Very impressed, and over overwhelmed ( in a good way!!). I really enjoyed reading some of the sundae optioned named for the Johnstown area - the JOHNSTOWN Flood, the inclined plane, etc. Once we decided on milkshakes, we placed our order (very polite staff). Wow, milkshakes were delicious and creamy! Generous portion and tasted great! This location ships chocolates, here's their website - osheascandies.com Excellent job O'Sheas! It's nice to see a local family business still providing a great product and service for so many years! PS - my mother was so happy to see Chocolate Marshmallow Flavored Milk Shakes - this is a flavor that's very hard to find! Thank you!! :)

Don't read that as I do like what they are serving. Who could complain about frozen yogurt with tons of toppings to choose from. The options are endless and quite delicious. What I am really skeptical about is the fact that this is a Christian based company that could easily offend any number of subset cultures in the nation. If you do a little research you find out that the "frog" part of the name is actually an acronym that stands for "Fully Rely On God." I'm not very religious myself and I have no hard feelings towards any one that believes in any type of religion. Just not my cup of tea. I can go to several other ice cream shops without scrutiny. **Bonus for this place, you get a deal when you check in on Yelp.

Whenever they told me the frog part of the name stood for fully reliant on god, I was a little skeptical but decided to try it anyways. If I remember correctly the store had 6 machines for a total of 12 flavors to try. Even more impressive was their topping bar which was easily the biggest I have seen in a froyo place. Everything that I had ended up being spot on and the only thing I noticed related to the name was a book about frog and Goliath which was a-ok by me. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. I imagine it will become one of our normal stops when visiting my fiancés parents.

Y'all they got rid of the steaks!!!!!! I'm so beyond disappointed. Honestly the whole reason I…read morereturned was for the food envy of not ordering the steak the last time I was there. So now....I have been here various times and the food before was excellent. There also appeared to be much more variety before. It doesn't appear now that the restaurant staff and menu supports the initial idea of the place so the whole speakeasy vibe and is now lost in translation. The service this time was good albeit we had another new server so it kind of scares me that on more than one occasion our server was new. It doesn't appear to be a place where they can retain staff. In addition the place was pretty empty, so you would expect The servers to be extra attentive which did not appear to be the case. The food this time was not even memorable. My husband had some salad thing which was pretty standard. But this time nothing wowed me like the first or second time since the original options were greatly reduced or removed. Really kind of sad to see the whole vision for this place to fall apart. I'd say with the menu options now and the standard of service. They are better to scale back completely and rebrand as a lunch spot. Reduce the prices and put out cheaper lunch options. It's giving "it could have been love but it's over now..." Overall would not recommend this place for dinner or couples. But maybe a cool lunch spot for working professionals or ladies who lunch.

Once we were seated and presented with the menu we realized why...half price sushi! We ordered several different ones, Dragon Roll, White Swan Roll, Spicy Lady, a salmon and a tuna roll. When I got my beloved firehouse roll this time it was not cold and actually kind of warm, which is not the experience you want at all with sushi. We received our garden salads and they were basically just lettuce with a single tomato. My mother ordered hibachi and my attempts to sway her for sushi were obviously failed as I was delivered warm sushi. Neither of us even wanted to take the food in to go boxes which is bad for us. The place was pretty busy and we chose to sit at regular tables. Unfortunately we were placed in the far right corner next to the sushi bar. There were booths and tables closer to the front but no, we were sat in the dark corner. As a result service was not good. No refills were offered and waited for approximately 15 minutes for check. We tried to be patient but eventually grew tired. I literally had to walk all the way to the front to tell them we needed someone to bring us our check. And surprise on the way back in another waitress, not our own asked if we needed anything. It was terrible. Our waitress dropped off the check with no instruction and just left without a thank you or polite departing greeting. And on our way out I heard another table begging for their check. It appears they too waited for something food wise that never came and were just waiting to leave at that point. So disappointing. Will not be returning here, unfortunately.
