The vibe was slow and easy - friendly - the kind of place you hang out in for a spell. The whole dining room feels like a museum - you are surrounded by photos and relics from Cambria County's past. I sat near an antique telephone switchboard! Now for the food... I've eaten a whole lot of omelets in my life, and I've never had one like this. Wow. I ordered a 2-egg omelet for $7 and change, and it was absolutely bursting! It covered the plate. The egg was cooked thin - almost transparent, and it was wrapped around a huge ball of bacon, tomato, mushroom and provolone. I needed a box. It reminded me of a large Stromboli, but made with egg instead of dough. I can truly say I had the best omelet I've ever had today, and it happened in Nanty Glo. This is a bit of a chain thing going on, but it is a local chain that has expanded slowly. This location has been here for what feels like ages. The neat thing about Meadows is that they attempt to build in a drive thru at each location that they can. Making it a bit more convenient to get your ice and go. They still do allow for indoor service and have outdoor seating available if you do not wish to eat on the run. Be prepared however, sometimes it may take a while to get through the drive thru line, it sometimes wraps around the building. When we did our most recent stop there were people getting out of the drive thru lane to park and go inside. Did it save them that much more time, not really, because when there is a line for ice cream it does not matter the way you attempt to get it. Check their website and/or Facebook page to see what their flavors of the day might be. They change on the daily and some days you have a better selection depending on your tastes. The day we arrived they had chocolate peanut butter cup and after some internal back and forth over that and a cookies and cream flavor, I went with the peanut butter. I am so glad that I did. When we got to the window after ordering we were in for a special treat. They had just made a fresh batch of the chocolate peanut butter cup. And, oh my god, it hit me hard...in a good way. Most places you go to and get a combination like this you usually only get the pieces on the smaller size. Not here. I ended up having full size peanut butter cup minis throughout the cup. Talk about exploding with peanut butter cup flavor, wow. Then to have it mixed with the soft serve was definitely a good treat after a long day. And to say that the employees here were doing an excellent job is an understatement. They were upbeat, hard working, and happy to make a sale.
