Today I had my 13-year old Havanese groomed at Rover's Place, and I'm thrilled. After a brutal groom at Wags on Willow (reviewed separately), our vet suggested Rover's, and I'm so glad. My senior dog can't take epic grooming sessions, and her hair was choppy and uneven after her last groom. Her ears and tail had been weirdly shaved, and I wasn't sure we'd be able to make her look normal again during her lifetime. The staff at Rover's is friendly, patient, and knowledgeable. The groomer we saw today has been grooming for 18 years, and had my sweet pup groomed in 45 minutes--and it's the best cut she's had in years. She did what she could to round out her ears, and to help set her up with a cut she can grow back into and look like herself again. My dog is fluffy, soft, adorable, and HAPPY! As a side note, all of the groomers there today were being so warm and friendly with the dogs in their care. I even saw one groomer sitting on the floor keeping a dog company while it waited for its owner. We will be going to Rover's for our grooming from now on!! read more

The staff have been great and the facility is clean however the ratio of dogs to humans can be too extreme. On more than one occasion We have seen one person trying to manage 15+ large dogs. It's often too many for him or her to control. One family member compared Rover's Place to a shelter because the dogs are put into crates more often than they should be. Our dog enjoys going to Rover's Place, finds ways to have fun with the other dogs and comes home tired however, we were hoping that there would be additional open space for the dogs to run around. read more

Best crew in the Northshore, hands down! Everyone there is so kind, happy and caring of all the dogs that blow in and out of here. We moved up from the city in 2020 and shopped around. The girls here just took to Rocco who is/can be a handful. I am a working single Mom & Dad so things can change hourly. They've helped me out in dire times of need, at the last second. Even when I've been out of all options, Rovers has always come through for us and Rocco They even suggested an older folks section for us given the aging of Rocco and his temperament. Patient, happy, kind, caring, reliable all while there are 50 dogs barking- so thank you Rovers!!! Our lab Hawk has been going to Rover's now for almost 3 1/2 years since we got him. They are absolutely amazing with him and every dog I have seen there. Hawk goes absolutely crazy when we are driving down the road to Rover's. Finally they have been very accomodating with Hawk and his recent leg surgery. Any requests i've made to make sure he doesn't reinjure himself they have gone above and beyond to adhere too. Rover's we love you dearly and Hawky wishes he could go 5 days a week. I don't know why I haven't yet written this review as our dog has been boarding at Rover's Place for over five years and he loves every moment there. When we moved from out of state, ensuring our pup got settled was one of our big worries. After his first daycare visit to now many overnight stays, he always pulls on the leash so he can get inside and run to play. The staff learn the regular dogs' names and personalities quickly and know that our pup can be a bit "chatty" (aka, he barks if he's not first for basically everything). Considering on a dog beach, our dog mostly sticks to himself, we find it to be amazing that when we check on him via webcam, he often starts his day at Rover's Place actually playing with the other dogs. We have also found the staff to be super attentive and they often go above and beyond caring for the pups. As an example, they diligently applied medicine over a recent stay (so much so our vet was impressed with how quickly a skin irritation healed). We very highly recommend Rover's Place! read more

Our dog loves it here! Anytime we need to board Pippa, she stays at Rovers and absolutely loves it. You can watch the dogs on live video feed and see that that they treat all the dogs like family. We live in the city so it's about 20 minute drive but won't board her anywhere else. She always knows a few dogs and makes new friends as well. She plays for hours and they bathe her before pick up so she comes home happy and clean. Won't take her anywhere else. read more

The best! Wonderful staff who are always looking out for my two dogs. I also love the webcams so I can check in on them when I'm working. I have both boarded my dogs, and dropped them off at daycare (one is actually there living his best life right now!). They also provide grooming, so after a long day at daycare, you have the option to bring up clean pups. Had an appointment but had to wait almost an hour because someone was late to thier appointment and they let them go ahead anyway Asked for an even cut with the clipers, they cut her with the scissors and is very uneven, dosent even look like they cut her legs. Major lack of customer service from the time of drop off to the time of pick up. Incredibly disappointing. Out dated facility.

This place smells dirty when you walk in. The staff is rude. They do not even say hello or smile. They do not ask if animals have been immunized. The owner is cocky and sarcastic. He picks grown dogs up by the neck with one hand. While addressing me the owner kept rubbing his bare belly and rolling his eyes back in his head. He did not think it was a problem that My 6lb. dog was given back to me wet with knots in her hair after supposedly being bathed. It is not a difficult task to groom a 6lb. Dog. 5 days later she developed a rash all over. My vet told me I was the 3rd person to come in with the same bacterial infection on my dog that came from Rovers Place in the past week. They let animals run freely throughout the facility including a Pit bull. Do not bring your pet to Rovers Place. Consider yourself warned. read more

My dog comes here occasionally for daycare. The hours are great (7-7) and I love watching the webcam feeds. Penny always has a great time and comes home exhausted. The staff clearly cares for the dogs and the facilities are very well maintained! My only complaint is that it's super expensive!! That said, the price seems to be the norm around here, it's just way more than I'm used to paying and a little bit above my budget to have her come as regularly as I'd like. read more

Finding a good place for doggie day care and boarding is always stressful for me but we have been very happy with rovers place. We have two dogs and they have been great with both of them. Just read a horrific review of another dog boarding place and realized I needed to write up this place to let people know how good it is. I've had my dog since he was 2 or 3 months old, have never been away from him for longer than 10 hours so I was a bit anxious as he is a special breed and very aggressive. It took Ray, the owner all of two minutes to become his best friend. While I was out of town I got to watch him on their web cam, even called up and talked to him once. They were able to keep him in his own large pen as he isn't very social so he was a bit lonely. As you might imagine this was a little disorienting for him and I'm sure it made him a little apprehensive but now, 3 days later he is as confident as ever and happy to be home. P.S. Ray has about 7 dogs of his own and if you're an animal lover you'll love walking into this place! read more

i am so happy I discovered this place. i only have good things to say about rover's. Let me start with the facility. It'salways fun walking into the place with all the friendly dogs just waiting in the front to greet you. they let all the dogs (the friendly ones) wander in the open area to play with eachother. My german shepherd loves it and always gets so happy being and playing with all the dogs. They keep the place super clean which actually lives up to my high standards. :) The staff is great too. Ray, the owner, is a cool guy. seems like he is there all the time, making sure the place is running smoothly. Pam is great as well.. her dog even has the same name as mine and we both dont know anyone else with our dog's name. you can tell that everyone that works there are true dog lovers. i feel no worries at all when i leave my dog at rover's. Not only are their prices better but they do a much better job with grooming than any chain and they will take your dog in the same day. i never have a problem with getting an appt. i always call the same day and they tell me to just bring her in anytime. take your dog(s) there and see for yourself. they are the best! i cannot say enough good things about rover's. i wont take my german anywhere else but here. she loves it and so do I :) read more

Sam and Sadie, my senior dogs, have been coming here for 10+ years and my pup Jonah just stayed here for over a week. They truly care for the dogs, this is not a "kennel" but more so a doggy hotel. We used to say "Sammy... 'Rovers?' and his tail would start wagging. One staff member mentioned she been there for 4 years and loves Sam, and that made me really happy little did she know. Nice to see them keeping the same people around for as long as possible. For those that complained of getting an infection or whatever the case may be, there's a small chance this can happen taking your dog to any dog park (with water bowls laying out) or kennel. This place is well sanitized and smells like yummy puppy when you walk in, which to me is a good smell haha. You don't pull your kid out of school because he got a fever (likely from being at school). Anyhow I'm done entertaining this, Rovers is great. Take your dog there and spy on them all day on the webcam playing with other dogs. read more

Rover's Place is the best. Their resident trainer helped my parent's dog with barking, dominance and separation issues (that's a lot for a Schnoodle...). All of our family dogs have been boarded there and played in their day care, as well. They LOVE it. Rover's also has a Zen Den where stressed dogs can rest and enjoy classical music, aromatherapy, etc. They also just started a program called "Camp Rover's Place" to help rehabilitate dogs from no-kill rescues. They are all just so gentle and sweet with all dogs of all breeds, sizes, etc. and I would trust them with my dog any day! read more

I don't normally take my dog off leash because she likes to explore, but I can when I pull up to Rover's Place, she runs right up to the door excited to go in, she loves the place. The staff is friendly and they are constantly cleaning, keeping the place fresh and clean as you can get when you have numerous dogs in the place. They know my/your dog(s) as much as you or I do as well, they know when they're not acting themselves and immediately react to it and start solving the problem. I know this because my girl was acting a little sluggish and shes the complete opposite, turns out she just had an upset tummy, and ate some plant that didn't agree with her [Don't worry the plant was from home since there's none to eat at Rover's] . If you're a a new customer, they require you to have your pet vaccinated, and they have all your dog's medical info as well, so if they need a new vaccination they'll let you know. The trainer there, Pam, is phenomenal and highly knowledgeable, I watched her turn a dog aggressive Corgi into a dog loving Corgi in about 10 minutes without being aggressive to it while I was waiting for my girl's nails to get trimmed. It was impressive. Aside for daycare and boarding you can also get your dog's groomed/bathed there. You can also do a "Do-it-yourself" bath if you like. The groomer, Kim, does a great job, professional grooms every time. The owner, Ray, is a very personable guy and make sure everything runs smoothly in the place. Everyone on staff loves your/my dog as much as you/I do, so you never have to worry about your dog's well being. If you do worry there's also web cams streaming of the whole place on their website so you can see your dog at play. If you need an amazing place to take your dog for daycare, boarding, training, a bath or a groom, go to Rover's place, you will not be disappointed one bit. read more

We are new to the area and recently boarded our sweet and happy-go-lucky yellow lab at Rover's Place for the first time for 10 days over spring break. When she returned, her eyes were bloodshot, practically swollen shut, and she flinched every time we even attempted to pet her. I can't even begin to imagine what they did to her there that would cause such a physical and behavioral change. When asked if she had been involved any altercations with other dogs or staff, we were told no, and that there had been no infections or viruses reported by other customers. She has been boarded at various cage-free kennels and daycare centers in the city over the past five years and always comes home tired but even happier than ever from all the play time with other dogs. DO NOT take your dog to this establishment. I thought I had done thorough research by conducting phone interviews with various local boarding facilities and we even toured Rover's Place in advance as our dog had to be "tested" with five+ other dogs and approved in order for us to become a customer. I am heartbroken to have subjected her to a place that would treat an animal so poorly and think nothing of it. read more

Being that my husband and I work full time, it is important that she gets exercise throughout the week - especially in the winter when we can't always take her to the park after work to run around. This keeps her busy and she always comes home exhausted. This place saved me!!!! I have two small children and a seven month old puppy. The puppy needs more time and exerscise during the day than I can always give it!!! We take him to the daycare and he gets so happy when he sees the owner. ( I actually am a little sad when he runs away all happy to leave me:) I pick him up and he is a calm happy pup. I own (and love) a 4 year old German Shorthair Pointer called Eli in suburban Chicago. LOTS of energy, and loves to play ball all day. His favorite place in the world is Rover's Place. We found it when Eli was a big puppy. Now he knows it as 'doggie day care' and he runs to the garage door whenever he hears those words. We use day care for exercise on rainy, hot or busy days, and boarding when we travel. Ray, Mike, Pam, and everyone there is positive and always helpful. I couldn't have been happier with Rover's Place. I boarded my dog for a week in October. Usually my parents or father-in-law watch her when we travel, so I was a little nervous, wondering how she would do. When I came to pick her up, she was in the front office area, happy as can be. She was having such a good time playing, it took her a few minutes to even realize I was there! I love that they offer day care. I felt confident she was getting excercise and attention while we were away. I will absolutely use Rover's Place again for boarding. A bath was included with her stay. She was squeaky clean, and had obviously been brushed/de-shedded. Historically I've not used a groomer. (She's a pug and doesn't require haircuts.) The difference in her shedding was so incredible, I plan to bring her back for day of fun and a grooming. read more

Left my 14 year old dog here for ONE NIGHT and she came home with a urinary tract infection. Vet said she was probably left to lie in urine over a period of time to allow bacteria to reenter. So far, our one night stay has cost over $300 in vet bills and almost a week later our poor old girl is still suffering. read more

I am so happy with Rover's Place because it is the only kennel where my anxious dog enters happily and doesn't look back desperately for me upon handing her off to the staff. She stays there for 1-2 week overnights when we travel. They also have long play periods so I know my dog is not cooped up in her crate all day long. Absolutely in love with the grooming our pup got!!!!! Best ever!!!! We have a Bernese mountain dog, so needless to say sooooo much hair. He gets extremely anxious, but not with Fran!!!! When we came to pick him up , she was grooming another pup and our Berner was just laying by her legs. Like he was with us!!!! Thank you Fran so so much! First, I love animals. That said, you will not find a better dog trainer or caretaker than Pam Fogel. She has a passion for animals and a deep understanding of their behaviors. I've never really thought of posting a review because it was a given that Rover's excelled in animal care. I was searching on yelp for something unrelated to doggie daycare, but I happened upon the reviews for Rovers and was shocked, genuinely, that there were some harsh negative reviews--granted, they're dated reviews, but still. The staff's personalities can be quirky, but that isn't my primary concern. I want to know that someone is tending to my dog. In this, Pam is awesome! She's passionate and devoted. In fact, she is the first person people will look to when faced with the dilemma of rehoming a dog. Everyone wants Pam to take home their dog because she is known to be an amazing dog mom. In addition, Rover's was one of the few kennels that had no cases of dog influenza. When I asked about it, I was told it was due to their strict policies on vaccinations and their level of cleanliness. Rover's isn't the fanciest daycare. They're not the most high-tech, sometimes the staff is a bit casual for my liking. But the daycare is mindful and attentive to DOGS, which is to my liking. There are no ridiculous fees for your dog to get "extra" attention. It's difficult trusting someone else to take care of your dog like you would. Aside from a daycare attached to a 24-hour emergency vet, this is the place I'd want my dog to stay in a worst-case scenario. This is because of Pam. I wish they could clone her. AND, I kind of hate Yelp. It's so hard to weed out the truth from fake reviews and ones that are written by a person who finds flaws with everything, or places blame on the business when fault can be found with themselves (like the dog with the UTI that probably had a UTI previous to the night he spent boarding, but the symptoms hadn't yet presented.) I was recently burned by Yelp. I visited a 4.5 star, 45+ raving review business that turned my hair orange, took 3 more visits to try and correct, and made me feel shitty and small for Wanting the blond highlights I paid $200 for. Rant finished. So, take what you will from this post. Always check out the facilities. Ask for Pam. She's the heart and soul of Rovers. read more
